Thanks for the great reports by Red. Also, thanks MacC to cheer up with Gibbons
This is our first ever GC win. We didn't set any team goal on any GC in our debut season and didn't expect any results from GC. However, Gibbons carry us with his steady performances in this tour. GC, Point win plus KOM 2nd by Manakov. Truly amazing results for us.
Great answer from Gabby, taking at least one podium out of three prologues this month. Too bad he threw away any GC points (he'd have finished 6th or 7th, s.t. with Guardini) yesterday. But Aregger once again jumps in, showing why he was our main target this offseason. He has at least one good stage per race - or even 2 like here and in Jelajah - which is way more than what could be expected looking just at his stats.
2nd in the team standings is a nice bonus - although if Marchewka had performed according to his stats for once we'd easily have won those. But BNZ are definitely a worthy winner!
Surprising winner on top, definitely didn't have Gibbons on my list, but consistency rightfully paid off. Congrats to Bianchi!
And commiserations - unfortunately once again - to McCormick. Keough should definitely have finished 2nd GC here (after S3 that is, generally speaking he should obviously have won the race, especially when comparing Keough vs. Gibbons).
Thanks for the reports, red, and congrats to all others who feel like they've got something to celebrate
And last but not least: Happy new year (in advance) everyone!
And I thought him finishing 17th in a prologue last year was bad, topped that with 23rd here. And at least the 17th wasn't in our goal race.
Still he managed to put in one good stage and finish 5th, matching his best GC result. But also emphasizing how easy it would be for him to win this race if just showed up in every stage. The fact he has failed to come close in three tries is frustrating. On top of that we ended up on the wrong side of the fractions.
Mostov sneaking into the GC top 25 is nice.
Congratulations to Wildwind, Gibbons is a deserved winner with that outstanding finish yesterday and thanks to Red for the reports.
