The Tévez-style roulette is awesome
The graphics take getting used to. They looked crap at first but I'm getting used to them.
EDIT: and the difficulty levels are screwed up. "Top Player" is easier than Britney. "Professional" is the hardest.
That explains why I ate 3 from Real Madrid on Professional...

I played FIFA 09 on the PC and the 360 now, and both versions are not as great as pople (primarily gaming journalists) having been making out. Within about an hour on the 360 version I was scoring freely on the top diffilculty and whilst maintaining 70 % of the possession. That's not a challenge. I wouldn't even consider myself as a 'top' games player but every year FIFA seems to be the same for me. So, although I don't think this year's Pro evo is as good as its wonder years on the PS2, I still find myself counting down the release date...only a week to go now

I have it, and it's the main reason why my NGC story is suddenly developing a lot slower
I love it. Funny thing on the NCL (pcmbenelux) forums there are so many fifa fanboys..they don't know what they are missing out on. |

Yeah I tried FIFA 08 on PS3 at the public libary (had to go there with the school) and me and a friend, played something I would call "knock down the nearest opponent", and we didn't once get a red card, often they didn't even get a free-kick, really bad, and the gameplay, was so annoying.

The bad:
- Full backs are too reticent to overlap the wingers;
- The community's being lazy so I still can't find a patch to get the real kits for some teams;
- Commentator is awful. I've yet to hear him pronounce one non-english name correctly;
The good:
- Everything else. This year's PES is awesome |

Agreed. The more time I spend with it, the more I like it - a hallmark of all good pes games. |

They really hyped the new revolutionary ball physics model, and I've got to say: The ball's movement looks so amazing
I usually don't play PES much, it's something I pick up for a bit once in a while. But this year it's really sucked me in for the first time since ISS Pro Evolution 2 back in 1999 |

It's really great, just too bad, I've got the flu, and that keeps me from playing at the moment

Also, get well soon. |

I've been enjoying it so far. I'm currently trying out the Be a Legend mode and had a fairly enjoyable start.
You do certainly feel like a rubbish player at the beginning when you're only participating in the inter-squad matches - no audience, no commentary, nothing. I had 4-5-6 of those matches until I finally got a spot on the bench. I was subbed in in 2nd half of my first first (uh, I love having two words in row) team match, behind 1-0. In the very last minute of the injury time, I scored the equaliser -- that was fun
Other than that, I agree with those who've said that we're back at c. PES 06-level. This game seems rather good. |

After having played it for a longer period of time, I'm far from impressed.
They got the license for the Champions League, yet they are not using it in neither "Be a Legend" nor "Master League". Why not?
Why does the commentary always suck? Always! It's not just bad, it's stupid.
Why does your team mates not really 'notice' you when playing Be a Legend? They move exactly like when you're "normally" with a full team. When doing that, you can instruct the other players to do whatever you want to, but in Be a Legend mode you'd expect them to make some decisions themselves - but they don't.
Edit: And to top it all, I'm going to buy FIFA 09 now. It's time to give it a chance after so many years where I've only bought PES.

I tried FIFA too. You'll regret it. It does not in any way resemble football, so your only chance is if you find it fun. |

That's what I did this year, after playing both demos, and after playing PES in the computer, I'm sure that I made the right choice. I'm even regreting the money I spent in PES08 one year before...
Online 10 vs 10 is so much fun, if the players are experienced in Be a Pro mode, and the teams balanced.

I made the switch a couple of days ago. Sold PES08 and PES09 and bought FIFA09.
There's no doubt in my mind that PES in terms of football realism (e.g. tempo of matches) still is the best. But with that said, FIFA is better in all other aspects: commentary, graphics, AI, overall feel, etc. I enjoy it a lot more than I've enjoyed PES, that's for sure.

The one big thing for me Fifa has over PES is the online play. PES servers suck! Still a better game of football overall though, in my mind at least. |
