9/11
Guido Mukk
I understand matt..and I also understand Isso.
And i have also reason to be happy in 9-11 2008..because in this day I resigned from my long time career theatre and started to work with rental company.
Feeling fresh again.

I was actually watching CNN when they switched over, about 9p.m. at night, I still remember the commentators going on about how it might be an equipment malfunction despite the fact it was a clear day.

Which is plain wrong. Less people died than those who die PER DAY in the Western Sahara genocide.
It's true, but "9/11" is more famous because it has a much bigger symbolism. It has been the beginning of an on going "war of two worlds". Western imperialism against Islamism and poverty.

This is not about numbers Crue True.
Thanks Matt for posting this topic.

Of course this is not about numbers. I'm just saying that if we honour the dead people from 9/11, one might also consider honouring all the other people who have later lost their lives due to 9/11.

the world trade centers were a symbol of the USA and for it to be attacked was terrible. It was a frantic day, school was cancelled and all channels talked about it. Everything in the USA shut down.

I came home that day and found my dad watching TV. I said: Nice clouds, but why are they on TV? He said: Not clous. Smoke, and found out what had happened.

wait, your British. Seriously, I don't think America should be having moments of silence. Consider that every week, many more people die in car crashes than who died in 9/11. I don't think that 9/11 is as important as every makes it out to be.

They didn't let us out of school. I was in 2nd grade and they told us about it, but of course 8 year-old's cant comprehend the magnitude of that many people being killed.

I remember I had just come home from school, eating some chocolate ice cream an i flipped on the tv; i fell out of my chair when i saw it.
Last night i couldn't sleep and of course go to history channel, they were showing it, minute by minute in almost a timeline format. The craziest thing was the huge dust clouds after the tower(s) fell, thousands of people running away from a hurricane of dirt.
And after i fell asleep i had a nightmare that i was running from a huge dust bowl.
scary shit

At the time I was 8, and I knew about and I knew people was being killed, but it was so hard, to understand what all this meant.

I was six, and it was the same thing, i knew nothing about what was going on, but i knew planes flew into a big building in nyc and people were dead.

All the firefighters that walked right in there with out a second thought to try and save people...amazing.

Why are we paying homage to this and not the immensely bigger tragedies since?

oh, right, those don't involve oil.

yes thankyou isso.

i knew this thread would make me angry when i saw it Frown

a minutes silence if your school has been directly affected by it but bloody hell people, theres plenty of much worse things that have happened and we don't pay any attention them basically, let alone commemorating them years after they have occurred.

Move the political views to another forum. No class at all I tell you. The thread clearly states to honor the victims of 9/11. You can express your political views on another thread if you feel so strongly about it.

These are social views, not political ones.

I can hardly consider people who died that way like heroes or people who should be honoured in any special way, they were just where they shouldn't when they shouldn't.
There have been millions of people who died in ways that are as unfair since then, and they're not honoured in any way (or any topic Pfft). Maybe 7 years later it's not worth victimising ourselves (western people) too much ?

If we honoured every tradegy with a minutes silence then we'd get nothing done. OK if it's personal but worse has happened.

No disrepect at all
