Cycling Books

Every time when the countdown to the Tour has begun, I read Joakim Jakobsen's Le Tour - propably the best book I've ever read. I've also read Lance's It's Not About The Bike. Right now I'm reading Brian Holm's Smerten Glæden (The Pain, The Joy or something like that Pfft). It's not written in a very sophisticated language but it gives you a look inside the peloton and Brian Holm has a nice sense of black humour. A couple of years ago I read Man Brænder Da Hekse (You Burn Witches, Don't You? or something like that Pfft) by Henrik Jul (the most knowledgeable Danish cycling-guy on TV) - it's basically just about his frustration with the 1998 Tour.

Le Tour is really a great book, I've had it since christmas, and I've already read it twice.

Johan Bruyneel's book "We Might As Well Win was pretty good. Right now i'm reading "Inside the Postal Bus" by Michael Barry and that is a good read.

i'll wait for it to arrive, but if it's that good i can't honestly wait to watch it. People have been saying you won't learn anything new, but will uncover the same things in a different light.

Edit: you seen the other trailer https://www.master...films.com/

is that about Tom Simpson? If not, the reason I'm asking is that there's a famous made up story going around saying that he said that before dying

While on the subject of films. The Flying Scotsman film about Graeme Obree is really interesting. I would presume that the book by Obree, also named The Flying Scotsman would also be a good read.

Another great read is "Lance Amrstrong's War" by Daniel Coyle. Really good insight to cycling not just Armstrong.

Also " A Dog in a Hat" by Joe Parkin.

"Pain is a big fat creature riding on your back. The farther you pedal, the heavier he feels. The harder you push, the tighter he squeezes your chest. The steeper the climb, the deeper he digs his jagged, sharp claws into your muscles."

I just bought yesterday for £1!!!!! the book, " A Significant Other". Basically an insight into Lance Armstrongs 6th Tour win, from the eyes of Victor Hugo Pena. Haven't started it yet, but should be good - its about bikes!!

The Death of Marco Pantani by Matt Rendell is brilliant- ive also read the Tour De France by Graham Fife, and both Lance Armstrongs books, which were all good.

I got the following book for my birthday (which incidentally ends in 3 minutes):
ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/51mSWNPQwXL._SL500_AA240_.jpg

It looks quite interesting - with the majority of it focusing on riders in the tour, giving information about them, with the whole other load of stats and info youd expect in a book about the Tour.
