The solo break really killed the spirit of this race and our race plan, as the hilly part became a sunday ride.

Nevertheless, Demare got into prime position under the kite, leaving others to burn their matches first knowing how tough it would be to retain speed in the steep part.


Sadly, 6th spot in the train at that point proved to be just one position too far down to haul in the leading sprinters on the line. A podium spot is nice in a home race though, and also keeps Demare's final points score for the season in an "acceptable" region come renewals.

We had a lot of decent punchy sprinters here besides Demare, but I guess they all participated in the chase or couldn't be bothered.
In a closer season, I would've expected several Top 50s to go with this third place, but this time I don't mind.



Congrats beagle for another Dege win, great to see he still has it.
