any indication of when it will be ready, would be nice.
1 month?
6 month?
1 year?

I don't think I'm gonna install anything new (patches included) until your project is done .-)

Plan is c. same time as when the PCM Spain DB was released.

bad move. now we'll have a bunch of "why isn't it done yet? you promised it would be done by now" posts in early november.

Release dates may not be a good idea on tis type of projects, but I would love to see progress reports.

naturally i have no idea of how this project is organised, but say that mr A is responsible for adding teams to the db, mr B for making jerseys, mr C for the stats and so on.

i think it would be very useful to see posts like

date A
Mr A: Added five more teams, we are now at a total of x teams (=y%)

date B
Mr B: Created jerseys for all five of the new teams

date C
Mr C: stats updated for three of the newly added teams

and so on.

This will give insight to the progress of the project and I also think it would lead to fewer 'when will you release it'-posts.

From my experience with other modding communities (not PCM), the only way to almost completely destroy the "when will it be ready?" posts is to keep a public checklist of "things still to do" and check off each thing that's done. That way everyone will know exactly what's left to do.

Those checklists are done on the private, PCM Fusion forum which is for members of the team only...

and releasing the checklist to the public wouldn't work anyway then you would get questions like "how long will it take to finish the last 37 teams?" etc.Wink

There is no way to escape questions other than with sarcastic answers (doesn't escape from questions but can be funnyPfft) and ingoring people who ask them

Once you announce the start of the project you will always get questions like that. Posting checklists/progress reports will, in my experience, reduce the number of questions.

because if it is a long way off done, people will complain...

if it is very near, people will be asking how long it will take to do the last little bit...

there is no way for the database maker to come out of it without questions but to work in private

Thanks CrueTrue.
... and don't worry about me bitching for the database to get ready - it will be ready when it's ready - now I just have an idea of when it is (and that will probably be before Christmas ;-) )

I just hope Cyanide will release a decent patch for PCM08 will be out before the DB ...

CrueTrue
Cyanide is working on (and testing) a patch right now, so no worries about that Wink

From personal experience I can guarantee that won't happen.
Those questions do however step up when the development team stops updating the community.

Do whatever you will as I personally don't care much, I'm just stating facts Wink
