yeah but to be fair it is only the Vuelta al Tachira, you don't get any points for winning it, and it isn't a sponsor goal, so where's the problem in just playing through |

Ok so i couldn't fix it...
In this day, 8 January the Vuelta of Tachira has it's second stage, a 54.4km's team time trial. Today's favourites are Discovery Channel, Health Net and Team Slipstream who have the biggest chances to win.
For Discovery the best time trialists are Devolder, Vaitkus and McCartney. Health Net has a good racers, Australia's timetrial champion, O'Neil and Slipstream has as their main rider Timmy Duggan.
The race profile is on a perfect plat as usual and the altitudine is at 512 meters above sea level.
Lonny Banks is as usual with a cyclist this time it's O'Neil.
Q: How is training going Neil?
A: Pretty well, i hope we'll make a good timetrial because this is the most esential stage to win.
Q: Do you think you'll be able to keep your national champion jersey?
A: Well I can't because I'm participating in Vuelta al Tachira and i can't in the Australian Championship too, that was my choice though, I didn't stand a chance of winning.
Q: Who do you think has the best team for this tour?
A: Discovery aligned a very good squad and they are the strongest team from here.
Lonny: Ok, thank you for your time, good luck today and may the best win.
So the time trial started and Discovery have an advantage because they start last and they'll know the times that they'll have to beat. Health Net strats 11th and Team Slipstream 9th. Let's wish luck to all the teams and let's see who's the best.
After only a few km's Health Net seem to be going well, the rythm is imposed by their best man, O'Neil. Meanwhile Slipstream is next to start and Discovery's riders are training.
Discovery go past the first intermediate point and they are infront of every other team, second it's Slipstream with 2' 30'' trailing and Health Net with 2' 41''.
At the second intermediate point Discovery is destroyed everyone's times they get at 6' 47'' in front of Slipstream and 6' 48'' in front of Health Net.
The race is won by Discovery with 12' 3'' in front of Health Net and 12' 05'' in front of Slipstream.
General Rankings:
1. T. Vaitkus 3h 41' 44'' (DSC)
2. S. Devolder st (DSC)
3. S. Cummings st (DSC)
4. G. Meersman st (DSC)
5. J. McCartney st (DSC)
6. M. White + 5' 15'' (DSC)
7. N. O' Neil +12' 03'' (Health Net)
8. R. Kilun +12' 03'' (Health Net)
Best young rider:
1. T. Vaitkus 3h 41' 44'' (DSC)
2. G. Meersman st (DSC)
3. J. McCartney st (DSC)
4. R. Killun +12' 03'' (Health Net)
5. R. Sutherland +12' 03'' (Health Net)
This was 8 January's story, next day will come soon if i'll see if someone has interest in it.

9 January 2007:
This day we'll see the sprinters again in action, a 143kms race that is almost flat but has at the beggining a small hill that doesn't effect the income of the race.
I had a talk with the experts and they said that the favourites for this stage are: Bonomi, Loddo and Vaitkus, but we'll see who'll win.
With 113 kms left until the finish, the yellow jersey wearer, Tomas Vaitkus falls and his teammates wait for him and will try to take him back to the peleton but he already has almost 2 minutes behind them.
Meanwhile there is a breakaway with 8 cyclists Laverde, Diaz, De Mateo, Sutherland, Munro, Cardoso, Batista and O' Loughlin that has more then a minute in front of the peleton and things look pretty bad for Discovery.
With 100km to go Vaitkus manages to get back to the peleton but the breakaway has now 3minutes in front of them but they don't seem to be worried because they have to recover 12minutes which is almost imposible.
When there are 80 kms to the finish White, McCartney and Cummings take the relay because the gap has exceeded 6minutes and in this way it could get to more then 10 until the finish.
With 10kms only left to the finish the peleton catches Diaz and the they are now 2 breakaway groups, one with 4 riders in front(Sutherland, Cardoso, Laverde and O' Loughlin) that have a minute in front of the second group (De Mateo, Batista and Munro) and 3 minutes in front of the peleton.
But with 6kms before the finish the 2nd breakaway group is caught and the first one has only a minute of a half in front but they'll win this surely.
Sutherland stood in Cardoso's wheel and with 1km before the finish went sprinting and won the victory. The peleton came with a minute gap.
Stage rankings:
1. R. Sutherland 3h 27' 30''
2. F. Cardoso st
3. R. Laverde st
4. O' Loughlin st
5. G. Bonomi +1' 03''
10. T. Vaitkus +1' 03''
General Rankings:
1. T. Vaitkus 7h 13' 14''
2. S. Devolder st
3. G. Meersman st
4. J. McCartney st
5. S. Cummings +2' 42''
Best young rider:
1. T. Vaitkus 7h 13' 14''
2. G. Meersman st
3. S. Cummings +2' 42''
Best team:
1. Discovery Channel 19h 07' 54''
2. Health Net +11' 00''
3. Navigators +11' 39''
Interview with Johan Bruyneel:
Q: When Vaitkus fell where you scared?
A: Of course not, this race has no stake, I'm glad because he didn't get injured and he'll be able to continue racing.
Q: Why did you sign your team for this tour?
A: Because i thaught that it will be a good freshen up because the season has just started and we'll have a lot of work to do, our objectives are hard but we have to do them.
Q: Do you think you can win with your team all the 3 grand tours?
A: I don't think we can, I'm sure of it, we have the best squad, we have no rivals, you'll see, the giro will be won by Basso the tour de france by Popo and the vuelta by Contador.
- We'll see Mr. Bruyneel. This was Lonny Banks reporting for Eurosport news.
BTW can someone please tell me how to export results? because i have to make screenshots of results and it's anoying i tried pressing export and in exported files but there are only first 3 cyclist...
Hope you enjoy this episode too. |

"Hot news on Eurosport, on 10 January 2007 Discovery signed a free rider, Simon Cadamuro, a 30 year old italian sprinter for 2 years, he'll get a salary of 148.200 euro's every season. I personally think this rider will be the team's sprinter for this year's giro, he certanaly will give a benefit to the team." - Lonny Banks
Meanwhile the 4th stage of the vuelta of Tachira is about to start, the experts said Devolder has first chance to win this stage, Serpa has second chance and Missaglia could win this too.
It's the first hilly stage and the yellow jersey will certanly be given to another rider, we'll just have to see to who. It's a short stage as usual, only 112kms and the max altitude is 1150meters above sea level right at the start, almost have of the stage(first one) is on downhill then a perfect flat and the last 15kms are on a medium difficulty climb.
Km 98: Lagutin, Broco and Moninger attack and will try to remain in front as much as posible but no discovery rider seems to be worried about this thing, they chit chat and seem like they are still on a holiday.
Km 93: The 3 are already exhausted climbing with only 12km/h while the peleton goes in this portion with 15km/h.
With about 70kms before the finish the gap has reachen 7minutes and in the peleton 4 discovery riders take charge, McCartney, Meersman, White and Cummings.
Even thought they are relaying hard with 15kms before the finish the breakaway group has more then 2 minutes on the peleton and the climb has started.
Km 13: Devolder thinks he can win this race and goes alone on the climb, he reaches a breakaway group(not the first, the second), the first was formed by Serpa and Orozco and in the second weaker riders.
Devolder didn't manage to get to the first group and Serpa wins, Orozco second, Agudelo third and so on...

Well the stats aren't as high as they used to be and at some riders it's because of age(such as in boogard's case). |

Yes, SN, you need to delete your post. I was a bit surprised to see the All Blacks in this story, til I saw your avatar.
And well done Lance, just remember to pace yourself throughout the season
