Thanks for reading / commenting!
Sorry about format - is it the amount of [spoiler] use? I went with this to avoid people suffering a mass of images loading. Still a work in progress. |

Yeah the spoilers aren't my preferred style to read. Or at least four per post. Stopping image flooding is nice of you but why not do one per post?
24/02/21 - kandesbunzler said “I don't drink famous people."
15/08/22 - SotD said "Your [jandal's] humour is overrated"
11/06/24 - knockout said "Winning is fine I guess. Truth be told this felt completely unimportant."

I am a minimalist person so spoilers suited me, but the amount of clicking is excessive I agree!
Thank you for comments - I will change. |

Stage 3 - Thursday, 19 February
Nakhal Fort - Wadi Dayqah Dam 193.9km
Day three sees the tour hit it's longest stage and with a slight incline finish perhaps we will see a winner other than in-form Nacer Bouhanni?

Stage 6 - Sunday, 22 February
Hawit Nagam Park - Matrah Corniche 138.8km
The final stage of the Tour of Oman looks set to be a sprinter's finish unless the day's breakaway can stay clear. Look for Nacer Bouhanni to wrap up a very successful race with another stage victory.

Stage by Stage
Stage 1
Tuesday, 24 March
Gatteo - Gatteo 100.3km
Winner: Nikita Zharoven (Nankang - Dynatek)
A bumpy first stage of the tour gave the breakaway a slim chance of staying clear and that is exactly what happened when the sprinter's team failed to catch all-day stay away Nikita Zharoven, who took the stage with over a minute on the chasing peloton.

Stage Result
"Rain.
Dibben hit the ground hard at the bottom of the final climb. I wait for him, we start 1'54" behind the peloton, but catch by the top the back end.
My legs are strong, I don't think they have ever been so strong as today. I ride hard all stage and am the first Team Sky rider to cross the line.
I felt great until questioned by the team why I left Dibben - he looked strong and nobody radioed me to stay with him."
Stage 2
Wednesday, 25 March
Sant'Angelo - Gatteo Mare 11.3km
Winner: Team Unieuro Wilier Trevigiani
In a close affair, Italian Team Unieuro Wilier Trevigiani edged out MTN-Qhubeka by two seconds to take the spoils.

"I rode on the front for at least half of the stage and suffered in the final km as I dropped off the back, finishing forty-six seconds back.
I'm happy and nobody on the team gives me indication otherwise."
Stage 3
Thursday, 26 March
Gatteo - Sogliano al Rubicone 153.4km
Winner: Edoardo Zardini (Bardiani CSF)
Once again the breakaway managed to stay clear and in a three-way sprint Edoardo Zardini beat off Daniel Teklehaimanot (MTN-Qhubeka) and Didier Chaparro (NIPPO - Vini Fantini.)

Stage Result
"I was hanging off the back of the peloton struggling to match the tempo until the last two climbs when everything splintered.
I dug deep and managed to limit my losses to my team-mates, catching Doull and Sutton."
Stage 4
Friday, 27 March
Zola Predosa - Piane di Mocogno 149.8km
Winner: Stef Clement (IAM Cycling)
As expected the climbs wrecked havoc on the riders with it difficult to call any of those bunched together a peloton.

My crash was pretty bad, but I loved the steep long climbs. I gained a lot of time back and am happy with what I did."

Stage by Stage
Stage 1
Friday, 1 May
Bridlington - Scarborough 150.3km
Winner: Daryl Impey (Orica-GreenEDGE)
A fairly straight forward opening stage lends itself to a mass sprint finish unless the breakaway manages to elude the peloton.
Cocoa's Thoughts
Spoiler

Stage Result
"Free to do whatever I want.
As a home race I guess the team allowed me some freedom to race solo. I focused on the mountain jersey.
I went with both breaks of the day. Poor positioning got me only third and two points on the first climb, but I learnt and took first and five points later."
Stage 2
Saturday, 2 May
Selby - York 166.7km
Winner: Hansen Lasse Norman (Team Cannondale-Garmin)
A dead flat stage stage lends itself to lots of scenery shots a mass sprint finish.
Cocoa's Thoughts
Spoiler
Fitness | Rhythm | | Freshness | Good | Bad | > | Excellent |
Stage Result
"I started out thinking there was nothing to race for. Diego told me to chase the breakaway for the intermediate sprint time bonuses.
While wearing my first jersey I won both time bonuses!"
Stage 3
Sunday, 3 May
Wakefield - Leeds 178.0km
Winner: Oscar Gatto (Androni Giocattoli-Sidermac)
Terrain suited to a puncher, expect a breakaway to stick and big changes to the GC.
Cocoa's Thoughts

Stage Result
"Terrible day. I made it into the group for the mountain points, but was out-thought and out-raced. I failed to get any points.
My legs ache, I hold onto the jersey by one point and David nursed me home in the last 15km."

Giro d'Italia Preview
Vincenzo Nibali (Astana Pro Team)
The 30 year old from Astana Pro Team is the number one favourite for Giro d'ltalia. Over the last weeks the results of Nibali were very promising. Nibali ended on a 3th place in Tour de Romandie. Next he also won Giro del Trentino. During Giro del Trentino, Nibali also won 2 stages.
Domenico Pozzovivo (Ag2r La Mondiale)
He's just a step below the top favourite but the cyclist of Ag2r La Mondiale still has a good chance on winning Giro d'ltalia. He had one of the best preparations of all for this race. An important race preparing for this race is Liege - Bastogne - Liege, Pozzovivo took the 3th place. He went on for another good result in Giro del Trentino where he finished 4th.
Fabio Aru (Astana Pro Team)
The number three favourite is Aru, he's not on the same level as the top 2 favourites but he's the best of the rest. Preparing for this race, Aru was able to take the 2nd place in Giro del Trentino.
Ryder Hesjedal (Team Cannondale - Garmin)
Spot four is for the 34 year old, it would be a surprise if he wins the race since he's not one of the main favourites, but we still see an important role for him in this race. During the buildup to this race, Hesjedal took the 5th place in Giro del Trentino.
Rafal Majka (Tinkoff-Saxo)
The cyclist of Tinkoff-Saxo is the last on the list, he might not win Giro d'ltalia, but we believe he can play an important part. An important race preparing for this race is Tour de Romandie, Majka took the 4th place. Next to that he achieved 8th place in Giro del Trentino.
