That's a nasty goal with the Aussie Champs - they may as well ask you to win the Tour with 1 really bad Aussie

Well I replaced the Aussie Savings and Loans team, but even so Top 5 is harsh, I agree.

DOWN UNDER CLASSIC
Team: Julian Dean, Enrico Gasparotto, Gordon McCauley, Adam Blythe, Nicolas Roche, Ian Stannard, Danilo Wyss, Matti Helminen
Adam Blythe and 3 others formed the first break and many riders attacked from then until the finish including all but one of my team. Coming into the sprint, Nick Gates and Brett Lancaster led, with a gap to a small group containing Gasparotto, Blythe, Stannard and a few others.
The peleton sprinted hard though, but the gap to Gates + Lancaster was just too big.

Yup - I wonder whether I hadnt started all the other attacks (Stannard was the first to go after the 4) I could have survived for a top 4 placing for Blythe. Probably not, and besides its fun in the short one day flats to attack all the time.

Team: Julian Dean, Enrico Gasparotto, Gordon McCauley, Adam Blythe, Nicolas Roche, Ian Stannard, Danilo Wyss, Charly Wegelius
Sponsor Goals: Top 10 Overall, Stage Win
Personal Goals: A strong showing for Dean, in preparation for the Tour of Wellington.
Stages 1-4
Dean took the wheel of former teammate Hushovd but disaster coming into the sprint as a crash took out all the big names. Well, not quite.
We still had Gasparotto, who had the wheel of Carrara - who himself held the wheel of Luke Roberts.
Roberts faded and with 1km Gasparotto moved round Carrara but then Carrara came back!
Damn!

39 Julian Dean THE BRITISH ALL BLACKS s.t.
40 Stuart O'Grady TEAM CSC s.t.
41 Thor Hushovd CRÉDIT AGRICOLE s.t.
On the bright side, Ian Stannard was in today's break and gained the Mountains jersey.
Stage 2
I trusted Unibet.com too much and the chase just wasnt there. Adam Blythe had been in the breakaway and gave the mountain sprints a good attempt - he fell away towards the end though.
That speck in the distance is Julian Dean leading home the pack.

Stage 3
McCauley, Gasparotto, Dean a perfect lead out for Dean surely? It looked the case but..
Stuey O'Grady had Dean's wheel and although he made his move with 2km to go, O;Grady managed to hold off Dean - who was forced to switch to following O;Grady at 2km to go due to a disappointing performance by Gasparotto.

Stage 4
Stannard was in the break and was still there when the crucial hill came. The favourites attacked and Wegelius countered and passed them. Stannard went to the front of the break and dug deep as Wegelius recovered, took a drink and attacked again. As the descent finished, Wegelius had approx. 1'30 on a chase group of 6, with Stanard and the yellow jersey Guidi lying inbetween that group and the peleton.

Tour Down Under - Final Stage
A sprint finish and our plans were ruined by that stupid Zabel. I had Dean behind McCauley, with Gasparotto as a rear guard. The cheating german pushed Gasparotto out of the way and then when the sprint began, McCauley sucked.
So Dean was forced to go 2km out and did well in the circumstances. The best sprinter of the tour took the win though, the super-Aussie:
O'Grady!

Since the crazy commentator has myseteriously disappeared (Was not seen after the 'interview' with Mr Smile - maybe becuase Allan Smile is in Denmark not Thailand), the reports will be a little more normal.
Stage 4
Geraint Thomas made a failed bid for victory with 20km to go - he was caught with 2km to go and eventually finished 33rd. Up front, Cavendish was determined following yesterday's mishap and he took full control.

With 6.6666666 km to go in this C-raizey stage, its Laidler, Stevic, Cavendish, Gudseel, Thoma, Swift, followed by a bunch of asian riders. The sprint is-a gogo and no surprises that Chavvydish has zoomed off, the fight for 2nd is good though. Thomas has the edge but thats Stevic and Swift coming through, WOAH, Stevic swerves and has last ground, Thomas races towards 2nd and SWIFT takes 3rd.
