now I've noticed...this is a BIG problem.
positioning by the AI is horrible. and given that the speed diference between sprinters is now smaller (which is good), positioning is (as in real life) absolutely critical. the AI's positioning is so bad, sprints are becoming very easy, and the winner is completely random when a human player doesn't participate.
also, see what I quoted above. it's a major annoyance.
given Cyanide's track record with patches...I expect them to NOT fix this, since it isn't categorized as a "bug"

page 15 of the game manual.
section 9.3 is called precisely "race strategy"
bear in mind that where it says that the team must be assigned "at least one leader and one sprinter", that's not correct. it's AT MOST one leader, and AT MOST one sprinter

I've bought the game today and besides the stats it doesn't seems that bugged, but i think with the new energy think it's almost imposible to win alone a breakaway, the speed decreases dramaticly if it's at 0.
But in real life not many lone man break aways get to the fnish anyway, unless they attacked right at the start or it is a mountain stage

it's more realistic now in that whoever is taking relay tires faster. that's not only the breakaway riders. it also means the chasers.
now it's no longer the case that some muppet (cough...Kaggestad...cough) is just as good to use in a chase as a guy like Vansummeren, Grabsch, or....if you have that Luxury...the mighty Voigt

It is very hard to put voigt in a breakaway when you want to simulate a race because it will say in the report that he was under to much survailance and couldn't go in a breakaway

Obviously, he is like one of the best racers in the field, you have to attack and attack with him when you play the race. Thats Groot is the best for breakaways B)

I wasn't speaking about riders in a breakaway. I was speaking about chasers. the guys who take relays at the front of the group to reel breaks in. Voigt is insanely good for that on any terrain.
of course for a breakaways, he's also amazing, but only after a few stages, when he's already far back on GC.

I appreciate your observations Isso. I had never thought to try the Windows trick for the graphics but I'll try it this evening.
I'll also look into your observations about sprinting. I've only played sprint stages thus far and have had limited success although I was using my old PCM 2006 tactics. In regards to sprinting, I assume you are playing on Hard mode, correct?
The thing I like about observation mode is that it gives your domestiques something to do. I have to shepherd them around the peloton to keep them close to their targets. Kind of a pain to do but it makes the flat stages less boring. i have found so far that the only relevant piece of information to get out of observation is the form of the day for the enemy rider(s). The blue and green bar information appears to be either incorrect or rarely updated but this might also be because I have been playing flat stages only and thus the blue bar usually stays at 100% until the end.

yes, and let me tell you that in climbing stages, hard is harder than PCM06 on extreme
this made me try normal. it's about the equal of hard in PCM06. if it doesn't level off soon, I might try normal mode for a prolonged period!
as for sprinting, I'm starting to think that I got a bit of sequential "one-offs", because sprinting since then has become quite normal. and in fact seems improved. especially the way guys lose the wheel they're following sometimes. especially through corners.
the only complaints I still have are the one about the riders taking relay sometimes getting good places because the trains form too far back, and another one which is that when the sprinter "fades", that is, slows down because the sprint bar empties (he's been sprinting in the wind too long), they don't seem to slow down as much as they pherhaps should.
I'd appreciate feedback on this. Is it just me or is it really happening?

now that you mention it, the energy bar observations don't seem reliable at all.

I've seen this phenomenon once in the 8 sprint stages I've played thus far on 3D. Some doofus sprinter (75/75) beat out the big guns (Petacchi, Boonen) because he was way out in front and the big guns were too far back. But the other spints were won by who you would expect. I think in the 4 sprint stages of Tour of Qatar, Boonen won one, Petacchi another, my guy Ventoso another and doofus got one. But I really haven't played enough stages to speak authoritatively. |

Yesterday evening, I uninstalled PCM0708 because I got a bit nervous. And I don't like to say this, but the game is a mess.
* Every stage lags, the graphics engine is a nightmare. I switched almost everything off to see where that got me, but no - the last 20 kms are a pain in the a$$. The game flicks harder then a christmas tree
I even did what I read in a topic where they said that playing in windowed mode makes it run smoother. But, to say it with a Little Brittain phrase : Computah says Nooooo !
It's weird that they made a perfectly good engine run berserk, specially since they pushed this forward as one of the main cool aspects of the game.
* List of favorites at the beginning of the race is mixed up with the team listing. Sometimes it's even empty.
* Observation is a laugh. I tried in a flat stage, observing Petacchi. Every time I got the message, "finished level X of observation", I checked the report but it stayed empty...
* The 'blue bar' is ugly, why did they change that ?
* The Rider's program - hah ! I was browsing Contador's listing. His profile says that his most preferred races are Tour de France and Vuelta d'EspaƱa, but his program says : September - No Vuelta !?! What's up with that ?

those bugs are all known and supposedly are fixed by the patch which should be out this week. except for the last one....which is perfectly normal.
take Piepoli. he hates doing the Giro, but for the second year in a row he did it to help Simoni.
