World's View Challenge

Stage 1

Team:
Leader: Evan Oliphant
Team Mates: S.Richardson
T.Gibb
J.Jackson
A.Blythe
T.Phinney

Finally, our first race of the season is here! I don't expect much out of it, because we don't have any rider who could do it well in the GC.
The first stage of World's View Challenge, South Africa, is 128 km long. It's pretty flat and it should suit the sprinters best.

i276.photobucket.com/albums/kk25/G_Larsson/WVCBreak.png
Of course there was a Tv-break. It consisted of 9 riders, the most dangerous one were Menzies.

The break was fighting well against the peloton and with 15 km left they still had a gap over 1 minute, and when the sprint began Menzies had created a pretty big gap to the sprinters, but.....
i276.photobucket.com/albums/kk25/G_Larsson/WVC2-1.png
Murilo Fischer, the brazilian super sprinter of Liquigas caught the american on the finish line, with Robbie Hunter finishing third.

Stage 2

i276.photobucket.com/albums/kk25/G_Larsson/WVC10.png
Stage 2 is pretty flat except the small hills in the end and it is 131 km long.

Saryana, Collier, Jacob and Botha attacked in the beginning of the race and created a breakaway.

But Saryana had to drop from the front group in the climb and then Marco Velo and Luke Roberts attacked. Roberts didn't creat a gap, but Velo did, and joined Saryana.

Now Liquigas started to pull in the break, first Velo and Saryana dropped back to the peloton and not long after that the other breakaway riders had to give up.

The Swiss puncheur Albasini of Liquigas made a train for Murilo Fischer and on his wheel he had Robbie Hunter, Barloworld. When the sprint began Hunter could easiely go around GC leader Fisher and win at home in South Africa.

Stage 3

i276.photobucket.com/albums/kk25/G_Larsson/WVC11.png
Stage 3 is like the first two. Flat with some small hills.

As usual a break went away, but they were caught. In the small hill at the end it happend some strange thing with Murilo Fischer, he dropped of the peleton but came back but he couldn't sprint.

Instead Robbie Hunter won his second stage win in a row. Rigotto finished second and the australian sprinter Wesley Sulzberger finished third.

Yup, the SSs are there now.

The only time so far youve mentioned your team is when you said who was in the race for you. Try to put more focus on your team's efforts during the stages than just saying what happened.

Stage 4

i276.photobucket.com/albums/kk25/G_Larsson/WVC12.png

Today tactics was to protect team leader Evan Oliphant because it is a tough hilly stage.

In the beginning 10 riders went away to try a long breakaway, but just 8 of them created a real gap. The most dangerous rider in the group was Woolcock of the South African team, Team MTN. He was just 48 seconds down in the GC, the same as Oliphant.
i276.photobucket.com/albums/kk25/G_Larsson/WVC5.png
Here we have the breakaway.

Oliphant didn't feel well and had a daily form of -4. In the first climb all the riders in the breakaway was caught by the peleton except Woolcock.
i276.photobucket.com/albums/kk25/G_Larsson/WVC6.png
Woolcock rides away from his breakaway friends when they are caught.

Now Woolcock had a gap of 1,32 minutes with 37 km left. But in the last climb he drops back, right through the peleton. In the same time Oliphant dropped off the peleton.
i276.photobucket.com/albums/kk25/G_Larsson/WVC7.png
Oliphant doesn't have the powers to stay in the front group.

The front group only consisted of 28 riders after the hill. GC leader Hunter also dropped of the group in front. With Fischer knowing that Franco Pellizotti helped the brazilian to a really good position before the sprint. On Fishers wheel Rigotto sat. But do Rigotto have the power to win over Fischer?
i276.photobucket.com/albums/kk25/G_Larsson/WVC8.png
No, Fischer wins!

Pellizotti, Rigotto and Fishcher won over the peleton with 34 seconds.

Stage 5

i276.photobucket.com/albums/kk25/G_Larsson/WVC13.png
Stage 5 is pretty flat, but the hill on the end is dangerous.

Many riders was dropped in the hill, including Oliphant.
Murilo Fischer won his third stage win of this tour.

Bikeline 2-day

Stage 1 - Individual Time Trial

i276.photobucket.com/albums/kk25/G_Larsson/BikelineTT.png

Sponsor Goal: Top 5

Bikeline is a stage race in Great Britain, it's got three stages, one ITT, one small flat and one up and down stage. This is the first stage, the ITT. It's 4km long and it goes downhill all the time.
This race is very important for Team Plowman Craven, it is a sponsor goal (top 5) and the team manager says that he expect a good race here in Britain.

i276.photobucket.com/albums/kk25/G_Larsson/TeamBikeline.png
Evan Oliphant will be the team leader. But it can change because it's very important that you are doing a good first stage.

The second starter was Collier of Healt Net and he set a good time.
i276.photobucket.com/albums/kk25/G_Larsson/Collier.png
Collier finished 10th, +5.

The guy who took the lead from Collier were Sotherland, also he from Healt Net.
i276.photobucket.com/albums/kk25/G_Larsson/Sotherland.png
Sotherland finished 3rd, +3.

The frenchman Boucher set a good time too. 1sec after Sotherland.
i276.photobucket.com/albums/kk25/G_Larsson/Boucher.png
Boucher finished 4th, +4.

But the man who won the TT was, Tom Zirbel of Bissel.
i276.photobucket.com/albums/kk25/G_Larsson/Zirbel.png
The winner of the first stage of Bikeline 2-day.

i276.photobucket.com/albums/kk25/G_Larsson/TT.png

The cameraguys screwed up the pictures of the Plowman riders. But all of them has a chance of getting the GC lead tomorrow, no one lost much time.
