The life of Brent Bookwalter-The American Dream
matt493
After yesterdays stage I got a call from my agent telling me that some Pro Tour Teams are sending scouts to watch me during the last few stages. I wonder what they will thing of me. There is only one American Pro Tour Team and I don't know if I am ready for the Pro Tour yet.

Well after that we still had a race. There were two KOM climbs very early so I broke away and was all by myself for the two KOM sprints. I immediately dropped back and reunited with the peloton.

i65.photobucket.com/albums/h201/matthew493/tropicale_stage4_I_break_2008.png

There were no breaks due to the fact that Mitsubishi was controlling everything. Everything came to a sprint and it wans't davis but another mitsubishi rider who rode away to take the sprint win.

OK that is it. I'm uninstalling the PCM 2.0 db and starting over with Spain. I will keep Bookwalter and pretty much the same thing. It will take a little while to get things going again. Sorry guys.

Disregard everything before this. I am starting over again on PCM Spain. I will have updated stats and goals soon.

AngryAngryAngryAngryAngryAngryAngryAngry More bad news. Looking at the PCM Spain database there is no Brent Bookwalter and no one who I think would fit well. So what I will do is try to start a new one (with Brent) on my other computer which is the original version(which has my slipstream story). So it should be back soon.

I'm gonna give this another go and here are his new stats. I am starting over. At least it was early in the season.

Main Members of Our Team.

Antonio Cruz: He is the veteran of this team and has a lot to teach us. He has ridden with the great Lance Armstrong and will be a good all-rounder also.

Martin Kohler: One of the few young sprinters on this team. Has great potential and can pick a few wins in the sprints. He recently road for Switzerland in the U23 world Championships.

La Tropicale Amissa Bongo Stage 1

The goal was for me to slip into a break and take the mountain jersey. if i couldn't get into any breaks than I needed to help Moos get the stage win.

On the first couple of Mountains I attacked. Once I picked up about 30 seconds on the peloton the rest of the escapees would sit on my tail and never do any work. Despite this I took the first KOM points.

i65.photobucket.com/albums/h201/matthew493/Tropicale_stage11_I_break_2008.png

Coming into the last climb Moos looked at me and said " I'm going to need your help." We both attacked and I did my best to carry him as far away from the peloton.

i65.photobucket.com/albums/h201/matthew493/Tropicale_stage11_I_breakwith_moos_.png

I busted my butt making sure he never could even see the rest of the group. In the end I knew it was his stage to win as he was the leader. Maybe someday I will be in his position?

La Tropicale Amissa Bongo Stage 2

I had a great talk with our manager yesterday. He praised me for helping out Moos. It was my first stage with the new team and I proved that I was a member of the team.

With me being in 2nd place I knew that there was no chance in hell that the peloton would let me break so I was forced to sit back in the saddle and rest my legs. Halfway through the stage, the break had a fairly large gap so Cruz, our veteran, came to the front and carried us to the finish.

i65.photobucket.com/albums/h201/matthew493/Tropicale_stage21_Cruz_controls__20.png

Everything came down to a sprint so I had no chance and the Australian Champion, Davis, took the win. Only 35 people finished with the peloton.

La Tropicale Amissa Bongo Stage 3

I'm still looking for my first stage win but I'm sure it won't be today or maybe even this race because all the other are flat stages.

Gaudin broke away very early in the stage and built up a pretty solid gap.

i65.photobucket.com/albums/h201/matthew493/Tropicale_stage31_Gaudin_Breaks_200.png

Knowing that he was a threat to the GC Cruz came to the front and carried the peloton, again, back into contention.

i65.photobucket.com/albums/h201/matthew493/Tropicale_stage31_Cruz_controls_200.png

Gaudin was caught and dropped. Cruz's pace was so high that only 19 men were able to stay with the lead group. Thankfully I was well positioned so that I was in the lead group. Everything came to a sprint and the Bouygues Télécom riders were too strong as Renier took the win.

La Tropicale Amissa Bongo Stage 4

Today is a pretty flat stage but in the first few kilometers there are a lot of KOM points to earn so I need those.

My goal today was to take the KOM points and I achieved that goal, clinching the KOM jersey unless I can not finish the race. I attacked and a few riders stuck to my wheel but no one could get past me.

i65.photobucket.com/albums/h201/matthew493/Tropicale_stage41_I_Break_2008.png

There was a solo break but they cracked with 30 km to go and were caught with about 25 to go. In the sprint it looked like Florencio was just on good form as he easily won.

i65.photobucket.com/albums/h201/matthew493/Tropicale_stage41_Florencio_wins_20.png

The surprising result was Cruz taking a strong 3rd despite having to chase down a break 3 days in a row. I still firmly have 2nd and will make sure Moos keeps his lead.
