Great posts Riis! Punta Veleno is an extremely steep and hard climb and it can be used as a pass which is great!

Fauniera and Sampeyre areawesome climbs! It is a travesty that they haven't been used in Giro for years. Also they didn't go all the way to Fauniera in '03 Giro, they went till Colle Esisichie. Also, you can finish the stage at Santuario di Valmala or after climbing Santuario di Valmala, going to Saluzzo:
Isola-Saluzzo via Lombarde-Fauniera-Sampeyre-Santuario di Valmala:

The stage from Bolzano-Rettenbachferner with the combo of Pennes-Monte Giovo-Timmelsjoch-Rettenbachferner combo:

Or if you want Pennes from the hard side, wait for the stage 20 of my Giro which I'm posting in the Race Design Thread on cyclingnews forum. (the stage will probably come in 2-3 days)

Passo San Marco is another beauty and if you climb it from the southern side you can have a finish in Morbegno, Val Masino, Gerola Alta, Pescegallo, Tartano, or Caspano.
if you climb it from the northern side you can have a finish in San Pellegrino in Terme, Foppolo, Zambla Alta, Valtorta, or Cusio.

Col du Romme is another beauty, and there are many possibilities with it. I included Romme in the Solaison stage I posted in my first post. Another stage I designed with Romme is this:
Annecy-La Clusaz via Glieres, Brizon, Ramaz, Romme, Colombiere, Plan Bois, Croix Fry:

Couldn't find a profile for Brizon but it is 6 km at %9

Or you can have a finish in Col des Annes:

Or you can have a finish in Les Confins:

Hahaha, 7000 elevation gain on 164 km. Brutal. Its the stage I want to see the most in professional cycling, no doubt - but its pretty unrealistic RCS and Vegni want to go in such direction. Zomegnan, on the other hand... wouldn't you agree it probably would be the hardest stage ever?
Anyways, seeing just two of those climbs in the finale would be great and I would be a happy man. That should definitely be possible if they just don't continuously ignore those beauties.

Always great to talk to others about this as its a pretty big passion of mine despite I haven't spent to the time yet to try to map all those ideas out and maybe make a Giro or a Tour. Endless possibilities... Wink

If you include Auna di Sopra as well it becomes almost 7500 m of elevation gain on 185,5 km.
