That's the thing that makes me sad about the fact that HE can find a team cuz he off course does have great talent, but less gifted cyclists who have been more honest about it.(Davis/Jaksche for ex.) are left without teams and/or are having much more trouble finding a worthy spot back in the peleton also beceause of the damage that he created for cycling as a whole being the big name that he is and got caught |

Well, Basso never doped, he said it himself. He just intented to. Unfortunately, or fortunately, there's a Justice, so he was caught by the police before actually doping.
I guess that taught him a good lesson and now he will never be tempted any more and will always ride clean as he used to do. |

I don't think Basso doped before CSC but as soon as he got there he started doping.

If you can finish 7th in the Tour de France and white jersey without dope, you may as well win the Giro being clean. |

it's Fassa Bortolo. Fassa Bortolo. It's not like no one from Fassa was ever busted...

Basso definitely doped before his CSC years. That's damn sure. It was an even bigger part of "cycling" back then, he rode for Fassa Bortolo, he finished 7th in TdF, he won the white jersey. He was so doped.
Anyway, I'm partly with Dankan here. His suspension has run out, and he's allowed to ride again. Let's give him a chance. If he's doping again, let's hope he's caught. If not, good for him. |

No matter what I'm just thrilled about the prospect of seeing him riding again. I can't wait to how he'll do next year

At the Giro del Trentino, Italy's last preparation race before the Giro d'Italia, the top of the field riders heard of Ivan Basso's signing for the Liquigas team in 2009. After stage three, won by Vincenzo Nibali of the green-blue team, Cyclingnews' reporter Rudy Gaddo collected some reactions to the come-back of arguably one of the greatest names in Italian cycling, who is currently suspended for intended blood doping.
Former Liquigas rider Danilo Di Luca (LPR Brakes), who also sat out a doping suspension for his involvement in the 'Oil for Drug' affair, said, "I am happy for Basso and Liquigas, but now there are two things: remove the ethics codes or they [Liquigas] are out of the ProTour."
World champion Paolo Bettini (Quickstep) was also "happy" for Basso, but veteran racer Gilberto Simoni, usually known for his outspoken ways, preferred not to comment. "I don't say anything about that, or it will be a disaster," the former Giro d'Italia winner said.

Ah yes, Simoni. Didn't him and Basso crash into each other at an important time in the Giro at some point a long time ago |

Not sure... But I can remember them being seriously pissed off at each other during the Giro 2006 after Basso refused Simoni a stage win because he didn't want to pay him, or something like that. |
