AG2R was ahead when Guido started putting the presentation together I'm betting. It looked like he started 2-3 hours ago and at that point AG2R had a lead. |

Tour Down Under
Stage 1
Mawson Lakes - Angaston
Lloyd Mondory
Renaud Dion
René Mandri
Yuri Krivtsov
Jean-Charles Sénac
Jean-Patrick Nazon
Stéphane Poulhiès
Christophe Edaleine
Lets get started...Gadret liked also sign himself up...I denied. In that new Pro Tour start he has nothing to do. Going after Protour points?..no need... yet. I have two strong sprinters Nazon and Mondory. if I need man who can go over those hills..then I got Mandri.
First stage doesnt start well..many bad looking crashes when we have 5 km. to go. looks like riders are forgotten at the winter ..how to ride in peloton. Nazon is down.
Saunier Jesus Del Nero looking for surprise at the opening stage ..he is trying to speed up a little. Kind of hopless move. Mandri helping Mondory to better position..fresh Australia champ Gerrans with CSC rider Goss looks most agressive at the group.
Gerrans is realy fast he's is showing us today that win over O'Grady for australian road champ. title wast just one flash moment. He is in exelent shape. Mondory is to behind..but he moving fast and passes many sprinters. And Ag2r managment let this guy go.
Gerrans..! Well done Mondory TdF ticket battle has started ..first start second place..few Protour points..nice beginning.
Aussie champ. Tour down under leader jersey owner Simon Gerrans.

It will be interesting to see the sprinters battle for the TdF spot throughout the season. Good start, and its very suitable that the new Aussie champ should win the opening stage of the Tour Down Under

Stage 2
Stirling - Hahndorf
Second stage..there is time already think. Is there anything to do against Gerrans..I'm not hoping that Mondory should beat him..yesterday 2nd. place was 85% pefomance for him. Today we have a little hilly stage..lets see how Mandri early season form will look like before important stages.
Hugh breakaway group..I was sending also Stéphane Poulhiès
in that group..he messed up in mountain finish point...and was falling back no need to chase down other riders he come's back to peloton. I also a little worried about Mandri today looks like sprinter Mondory feeling even a little better on those small hills
Finish?..no intermediate sprint point .yesterday podium guy are all there..who is winning this? This time I was lucky that young rider jersey holder Mondory takes max. points.
That is what is left at hugh breakaway group..11km. to go ..but main peloton with main sprinters closing fast this is gonna be close .
Here they come..almost has replay for yesterday del Nero is off..No way he can be succesive.
Mondory has founded best back wheel has possible..Gerrans. Another aussie Kemps trying different strategy today..he is go's at left side.
Gerrans again 2 for 2 now. Mondory is third today..what to say ?..great... lets try tomorrow again.

Stage 3
Strathalbyn - Yankalilla
Another sprinters..there is few left before most important stage five. Where we probably decide who will be Tour down under winner.
Mondory has starting to understand how find himself perfect position for sprint..he find Jermy Hunt. Second in the train isnt best place...he should open.
Here we go..doesnt have enough legs. Gerrans is a little boxed..but seems like new names is coming up. We see first time Suisse champ Zberg..Cofidis and Duque, Boygues Pineau.
Pineau is leading ..Gerrans is now in "open water" he is closing fast..gonna win again? Mondory is falling behind now me has manager as now thinking only will he manage to beat Kemps.
Pineau hold's. New stage winner..Gerrans started to behind and to late to find a way to front.
This new points system is strange..

In every story I've read with new database, Credit Agricole has been strong in Australia...especially with Gerrans and Renshaw.
Its ok Mukk...you'll get em' next time. |

Stage 4
Mannum - Strathalbyn
Mondory is activ again..he decides today follow de Nero ..yes the same grazy sprinter who has tryed to escape several times in final sprint. Kemps is just behind Mondory. This isnt best way..he will use Mondory has lead out rider.
No need to wait anymore last km. starts..and everyone go's what they have left. Looks good..but damn already looks like Kemps is to strong for Mondory.
Kemps is stage winner..Mondory just managed to keep second place.

Stage 5
Willunga - Willunga
Here we go...easy part is over. Very dangerous hill before finish...and tomorrow tricky Adelaide stage with very fast tempo and sharp corners.
Psamontes looks realy nervous today..he is trying to follow every atack,..and if now one atacking he going for solo himself.
Here we go..climbing time. Has few days our planned team leader mandri sayd no go..then they protecting so far our best man Mondory has long has possible. We got Ag2r, Rabobank (first time in the picture)..Caisse,,Agricole.
Moment that Mondory has afraid so..Muravjev atacking. Action time...Mondory having difficulty..there is madness at this point to think a counter.
When they passes mountain check point Tankink has solid lead..this can work.
33 riders group has sepparated..only Mondory from Ag2r has survived..he is clearly in difficulty to keep up with elite group.
Last Tankink still leading (biggest time gap he had was ´+33sec.)..but Agricole is coming with two man power ..tour leader Gerrans with Halgand.
Halgand managed to snach stage win..I acnt wait a moment when I get revange over Agricole..there is gonna be best french team title battle. Mondory managed to keep ´+0..and GC 3rd. spot. great if tomorrow something freaky wont happening then I leave very pleased with my 3rd. GC spot, and for extra young rider jersey.
