Now it works for me.
I don't know how I got it to work, all of a sudden it asked my to edit an existing profile. I then cancelled and restarted the game. Now I am in the game.
BTW: I have restarted the game multiple time as suggested. |

Is there somebody who bought the game from Gameplanet and can play?
A friend of mine and I bought from the same provider, but only I have the problem. Initially he had it as well, but after trying a couple of times it resolved itself. No sucj luck for me sadly. |

After the 4th restart the backspace trick worked for me and I got the Account already exist message, I restarted and created a new account without problems. |

I FOUND A SOLUTION (it works with me) just type your email and username, let the error appear and wait, just wait until your screen(with the error on it) shows a page with all your accounts ! |

I had same problem for two-three hours yesterday, created like 20 different profiles, with coming in and out of the game, i got just two messages - "steam auth fail" and "profile already exists", but the game could not start because of it.So i went to bed and when i launched the game this morning, the very first profile i have created yesterday was there to choose from and i was in the game.
So it seems random, or maybe time helps?
Stupidity...

Yep, same here. Yesterday I tried every method I found here and in the Steam discussion and nothing worked. Tried again today and: Instant access to the game
Perhaps a computer restart helps, or was it time? |

After trying for 2 hours yesterday with no luck I also got in on the first try today! Seems like Steam/Cyanide were able to fix the issue!? |

They didn't fix it yet, I guess it might be a problem with steam detacting you buying the game |
