Medieval 2 was very good - totally worth buying, but the advance on Rome wasn't particularly huge - this one should be

the fabulous mod will be total realism mod. unfortunately they're still working heavily on Rome. they've basically made Rome a whole new game. much better.
they might do the same to medieval, but it's still about a year or more away, the release of the mod.
especially now that a few of the mod team were hired by Creative Assembly to work on Empire:Total War....

so is that Rome actually a different game or an expanison or a mod thing?
and is Empire:Total war a new game an expansion or a mod??
sorry for the questions
just a tad confused

Shogun: Total War -> Medieval: Total War -> Rome: Total War -> Medieval 2: Total War (the fans demanded a redone medieval with the new graphics) -> Empire:Total War (nobody wanted gunpowder, but we're running out of eras. there's not much they can do next. maybe Native America:Total War)
that's not counting expansions. every game has one or two expansions.

so they are all different games, released in the order you put them?
and that Empire one is the new game you posted had been announced?

A faction is just a country - yes their is patch. Go to their website, I think you find it in the forums
Campaign Rules - Long Game is this?
Advice Level - You should put it on fairly high until it gets annoying when you learn the game, then turn it off
Battle Difficulty - Medium for a beginner, then just up it
Manage All cities - Up to you, depends how involved you want to be
No Battle Time Limit - Put a time limit on, otherwise the opponents some times just sit outside your walls when they've lost all their siege gear
Show CPU moves - No - it just wastes time

And just choose England, their fairly easy to manage, I made a lot of money with them (Note - make most of your places cities, build up roads, markets, ports, and farming), they've got knights and longbowmen, and they get to attack the French and the Scots quickly. Perfect
