Hannes Convertor does work on Vista though. I worked it out a couple of weeks ago. Vista has some weird things wrong with it and one of them is that even if you're the only account on your computer/laptop it still does not give you administrator priviledges even if it says you are.
When you open up Hannes Convertor normally, in Vista, and try to open up a database it will come up with an error that says
"Unhandled exception has occured in your application...
Access to the path 'DYN_archive_contract_manager.hex' is denied."
It is denied because the system thinks you done have the priviledges to be able to open the .hex file. However you can get the priviledges by opening Hannes a different way.
Right click on the Hannes Convertor icon--->Click on "Run as administrator"---->In the box that pops up click "Allow".
Hannes Convertor will then recognise that you have the priviledges to be able to open the tables and .hex files, and the program will work perfectly. Hopefully it will be the same with your editor
EDIT: Also, that Startlists page, will it be possible to manufacture a completely real startlist using your tool, or can you only edit your own team. (I know you can make completely reall starlists for career-mode in Hannes, but that would take ages) Also I'm not really looking to do this, but it'd be a pretty cool feature if it's possible

I have Vista too and Hannes Converter works perfectly fine for me, and i didn't even need to do the things Addy said.
And your program looks awesome btw. |

Thanks Addy, that's good to hear, i don't have Vista anywhere near so i wasn't able to test it. I'll include your tip when i release it so people will know how to get it to work if they have any problems.
As for the startlists, atm it's only possible to extract the startlist for a given race, but i do want to include such a feature. But that may or may not be included in the first release. I've promised some people i'd include a startlists editor for single races (XML startlists), for wich my intention is to be able to import such a startlist to a career also, but im not yet sure how i'll implement it (initially i only had the WC's in mind, where not being able to select your own riders is a big annoyance).
As for stats editting, not possible for now, and it's not really high on my priority list since there are other tools (hannes editor/converter, for wich a new update is available on his site. |

Yep, i am. But even though i'd love toying with the new 2008 DB, i'm testing it on some savegames that are already half a season, 2 years and even 3 years in progress to (hopefully) anticipate on some things that changes during play.(using my own, and i think Panaflex's quickstep and someone's Slipstream savegame from the 'post your savegames thread'
On another note, if you'd like to get a raw beta of the tool to test things out and/or track down bugs. I'd be more than willing to give it to you, it hopefully saves you time going in and out of PCM. For ex. it's much easier to see race invites, teams sponsor goals, contracts etc etc. without having to create a new career for each team and test it in PCM itself. The tool itself works flawlessly atm, i'm only adding new features to it but the ones already in work 100%. I just have to build the installer and test it on a clean XP installation first, but that was in the planning anyway . |
