Meeh stage. Didn't expect a breakaway win here. Dangerous gap!
Oz anonymous and I fear Bobridge may struggle. Congrats to Meiji anyway

A good win, and that means points for having the leaders jersey with it being the first stage, so I will take that for sure. Nice to see Zaini and Kinoshita in the main bunch too!

Nice showing by Edet - a not-so-expected third place. We'll take any point we can get |

Congrats to Meiji, big win for them here.
We have no expectations really, just a bunch of break success hunters here for us, shame that Lavery was not able to hold with the japanese collegue from the break.
Our only hope here next to breaks is Zmorka taking it easy for few days and going all in for top10 in final TT, but it will be hard.

A bit of a dsiappointment for the hilly guys there - good for teams with chrono specialists though it is the hill top finishes that should give gaps anyway. This was classic breakaway victory type stage really.
Hopeful that more control can be had on the flat stage.

Very surprising winner in opening stage.
If Lay survive all difficulties in first 2/3 of second stage, there could be a chance to score few points from him. Obviously, Van Stayen followed by Holloway are clear favourites here though.

Not expecting a lot from this race, even though I sent both Flügel and Claeys. Hope the can do something on the hilly stages
Sad to see Brändle loose so much time on the first stage :/

Bobridge doing better than in the hilly opener, showing some interest in the sprint - finishing 12th. Now for the key stages. Tomorrow's uphill finish is definitely important.
Congrats to Venchi. Easy win, it seems. Morton though.. lucky one. (Don't expect too much from him anyway)

Looks I was way too optimistic about Lay´s sprinting abilities

That's a nice fourth place from Boasson Hagen, but I expect this is where this race starts for real, with an uphill finish on stage 3. Fingers crossed he's up for it with a decent daily form.
Congratulations to Sykkel_Freak, taking that expected win. |

Most important today was to hold on to the leaders jersey and we did that.

Grrrrrrrr, I don't like the look of the GC and how invisible Bobridge is in the hilly stages.. Would be good, if he limits the losses prior to the TT. Anything outside the Top-15 would be bad.

Great ride from Tejay! Never going to beat Bakelants 1-on-1 so 2nd is perfect.
*Looks up Bakelants TT stat* Hmm.. yeah probably not going to happen.

Wow excellent stuff from bake lasts and TvG there, a few people will be disappointed with that. I was hoping for a bit less gaps but really good for the hilly guys.
Trofimov defo not up with previous year and certainly MO stat not big here. Also not quite Hagan disappointment.

Good stage from Boasson Hagen! Not much to do with Bakelants and Van Garderen the way the race played out, coungratulations to both, and especially to Crommy, obviously!
Thanks for the report as well, Selwink and SN, that final climb to the finish line looked brutally steep!
It will be interesting to see the two next hilly stages before the TT. Stage 4 might not give any gaps due to the easy finish, but stage 5 must be considered the Queen stage. On the other hand, that final hill on stage 4 looks like another steep one, hopefully Boasson Hagen at least will follow dangerous attacks there if some of the GC guys try their luck. |

Not a bad result for us. Had hoped that Preidler's early attack could lead him to a stage win, but wasn't that lucky. I'm happy to see him attacking though, with his stats he should win something this year if he keeps doing that
