Any news on possibly injured riders who could have been interesting for tomorrows stage?
I guess Johan Vansummeren will struggle tomorrow despite being a great cobbler, but anyone else?

I think that you forget Greg Van Avarmaet. He will do it tomorow. He is always on super form but somehow he is not able to manage the top step on podium. He is really consistent. Five star favourites: GVA, Vanmarcke, Sagan....Greipel?

Greg van Avermaet is one of my personal favorites. I can't see him fuck up. To be honest I think he, and Daniel Oss, might do something epic, and put GVA in yellow. Him or Stybar (unless he fucks up fighting for Martin).

Pozzato crashed too. Not that I expected him to do anything tomorrow, though. |

Yeah..Daniel Oss is really amazing helper in every terrain and this suits him even better....But I think it will not be that way because there is Teejay. But lets hope that GVA will have a chance for a stage win..

Tony Martin is going to be interesting tomorrow. He never really showed something on cobbles so far but he should have lots of power to make others struggle and his form is definitely good.
I hope he can fully go for himself tomorrow and not work for Uran or Cav. Having Stybar in his team could also be a problem. |

He was a massive engine on last years cobbled stage, so I think he already proved that he was very strong. Kwiatek, Stybar and Trentin are amazing helpers. I think Stybar will be saved, and only be used as a helper if Tony looks likely to get the jersey, otherwise Stybar will definately try. Kwiatek and Trentin will help Tony - And if the stage is easier than anticipated, then Cavendish might get through to sprint for the win. He has done decent on semi-easy cobbled stages before.

Oh, that sucks. I kinda thought he was one to watch seeing as he is one of the few cobbled specialists who doesn't have a leader to look out for.

Well it is quite difficult when we don't know who will be available to pick from the different categories. Yates and Meintjes doesn't look good imo, and given that we are looking for young riders I guess someone like Kenneth Vanbilsen, Jens Debusshere, Florian Senechal and Matteo Trentin will be available from that category. Those should all be better. As a timetriallist I would also to for Tony Martin as he will definately try to get in yellow, and he has the team mates to help him. I would find room for Stybar, and possibly some of those cobblers that is basically just here for this stage, such as Vanmarcke, Devolder and Langeveld.
Westra and Boom could also do very well. We saw that last year (Aswell as Fuglsang and Nibali)

I really hope Stybar will be allowed to go for himself tomorrow. Sadly he will probably be needed to help Uran or maybe even Tony Martin. But if he is allowed to attack, he has a small chance to get himself into the yellow jersey. That would be absolutely amazing.

Either Sky will willingly give up the jersey, or we're in for two-and-a-half weeks of Sky-train-o-mania.
Fun on a bun.

NO. I do not support this.

Thibaut Pinot after yesterday's stage:
"I saw William Bonnet crashing right in front of me while he was coming to help me. That was traumatic, " Pinot said. "After that my legs were gone, I had no strength, nothing. He fell at 80kph and I really didn't feel good after that."
Sounds horrible to watch happen right in front of you.

It seems that Pinot is a bit mentally weak or how to say that. Of course it has to be horrible to see your buddy crash, but i have never heard about guy terrified from so many things that are part of cycling like Pinot is.
Today should be super interesting, with so many teams having dilemmas with strong cobble riders and GC guy to protect at same point, i just hope that my horses Sagan and Stybar ale allowed to go.
My pick is Degenkolb, he has no dilemmas.

Pinot is gone for this Tour I'm afraid. Read an interview where he was quite depressed about losing so much time already and saying he was pessimistic about the days to come.
Hopefully he'll get his head back together and go for polkadots or something like that, but I'm not sure if he's mentally string enough to do that.

He just needs a good day today and things will pick up for him, but if the slightest thing goes wrong I don't see him recovering for the rest of the race. It's a pity as he came into the race in great form.

Without knowing too much about him, Pinot seems to me as being a bit to "weak minded" to be a top contender (and athlete, for that matter). He might be dedicated as hell, but he seems to be all too easy influenced and thrown "out of his game" by incidents that we all know can occur.
I'm not saying that you should just brush off something like that, it might be a horrible thing to witness, but also when it comes to things such as downhills he doesn't seem to have the mental strenght to become a true contender.
