Of course Cavendish comes to the USA and takes the stages for himself
I guess there really wasn't an American that could have been favorited even if Cav wasn't here

At least this one was close. Really does suck that we couldnt see Kittel and him battle. Tour of Cali usually has very well designed sprint stages. |

Was hoping for Sagan to battle for it today but Cav made it look easy ........again |

Stage 4: San Jose - San Jose (169.8km)
Might have trouble making it three from three tomorrow even if Cav could somehow survive all the climbing given the nature of the finish though, the final 400 metres to the finish featuring an ascent with gradients over 10%.
Probably even be beyond the likes of Peter Sagan due to just how much climbing there is, although his consecutive second places hint at some kind of form at least. Going to depend on what his climbing is like this year since he dominated a few mountainous stages in the past back when he was the "tour de force".
Certainly a day tilted in the favour of the climbers, whether that be from a breakaway or from within the peloton.

Jens in commentary
Mount Hamilton just been climbed by the riders, so time to take stock and see who has survived. 45km remaining with Tom Skujins of Hencapie Racing Team leading the first chase group including Jonathan Clarke, Daniel Oss and Evan Huffman with a second chase group behind them containing Travis Meyer and Oscar Clarke.
Team Sky have been leading the chasing peloton for much of the day so far.

First team this season with Phil and paul for me. Combined with Voigt makes the tour tracker much less enjoyable.
Who's the 4th guy?

Yeah not the greatest race to listen to if you cannot tolerate Ligget or Sherwin, or anyone else they get as a guest.
Seems Peter Sagan managed to stay in the peloton over Mount Hamilton, although he just had a mechanical problem. Then 'BAM!' Tom Skujins collects a hay bale barrier on the descent.
Edit #1: Jonathan Clarke messing up exactly the same corner...

Thanks.
Quite a tough descent. Expect more crashes when the peloton arrives there.

So I should eventually switch from German channel to the English one. German commentators aren`t that well neither. |

Don't mind listening to Brian Smith or Robbie McEwen (when he is on) because they talk sense most of the time |

Now Sky are just potentially being weird...
Peter Kennaugh puts a short dig in, causes a reaction from a bunch of riders, blows a few riders up, everything calm down again, they stuff about a bit regaining trust and organisation, and now everything is back to normal but short a few more valuable domestiques.
Either chase properly or race against each other in a write off of Sjukins ability to hold any lead in the GC over the rest of the race, just don't half heart both tasks.

Toms Skujins wins ahead of second place Sagan (2agan ). Chapeau to the young Latvian on a massive win for him and the team.
Edit #1: Sagan beat Alaphillipe to second...

Toms Skujins the new race leader going in to tomorrow's fourth stage. Unless Sagan or Alaphilippe are planning miracles on Mount Diablo the Latvian currently holds a 47" gap back to the best placed General Classification riders (Gesink and company).
Hencapie Racing Team also have Daniel Alexander Jaramillo, who finished fourth on the stage, sitting in 5th, 44" down currently.
