2026
The spring season was really kicked off when the cobblestone classics began. Again, Felix Ballin was bad before Ronde van Vlaanderen, where he won for the second year in a row. He once again cought Rodolphe Ribiere on the last mile, and it was such a hard run race that neither of the two riders could manage to sprint. It was the very last forces were pushed out, and the two fighting cocks led alternately on the last few meters, but eventually Ballin won with a section width. A truly harrowing ending!
However, Felix Ballin disappointed in Paris-Roubaix, where he was only placed 15. Instead, it was Florian Senechals turn to shine, and the Frenchman won the sprint of Derek Uhlmann and Kevin Hunter. On the whole, there was no cobblestone riders who was a level above the others in this season.
The Ardennes week was a mixed affair. Here there were three different winners in Matej Mohoric, Henrik Borg Hojer and Jack Haig respectively in Amstel Gold Race, Fleche Wallonne and Liege-Bastogne-Liege. All three victories, however, was quite convincing, but all were back at the same level as in the cobblestone classics.
Sander Engelstoft was once again untouchable. He ran nearly the same program (no Dauphiné) as last year, and again led it out in victory Tirreno-Adriatico, Volta Catalunya, Vuelta al Pais Vasco, Tour de Romandie and the Giro d'Italia. In the latter race he won with more than six minutes to teammate Noah Arendt, who switched Sky out with Velux to this season, and Engelstoft won six stages under the way to Milano, as is the habit in the Giro. The Dane simply can not be beaten.
The Tour de France was the second year in a row Benjamin Boesen won it. He was never pressured on the way to triumph, and the nearest competitor was Colombian Ismael Morote, as he on the penultimate stage took the second place from Jacob Jensen. On the way, Boesen took along some stages, and there is not other than to say that the winners in the next years Tour de France probably already found.
In Spain, it was a hodgepodge of Danish riders who left their mark on the Vuelta a Espana. Sander Engelstoft won once again, Benjamin Boesen and Jacob Jensen took the other two podium finishes, while Noah Arendt ended up in fifth and Michael Pedersen at number eight. Somewhat surprisingly Engelstoft only took five stage wins, and Denmark had another win in Hans Jensen, who won the final time trial.
But there is something that the superior Danes can not: they are completely gone to the World Championships. There is an interaction that is not working for them, a little surprising when they run on the same team all together where they perform at the top level. The Danes were favorites for the time trial, but, a little disappointing, they had to settle for a third and fourth place as Felix Ballin and Hans Jensen was beaten by Aaron White and Joop van Stee. In turn, the Danes brokes the bad streak for the road race, for here won Simon Kampmann front of Pablo Guido and Dariusz Scheiffele.

No Green Jerseys for Sagan. The sprinters have been too good to Sagan, who did not evovle in sprint. A bit disappointing, and now he is 37 years old. We will not see more of him. |

Sorry, a Kiwi is a New Zealander. I know sometimes they don't develop very well, but I'd like to see how they are doing in your game.

On my game there was a new Kiwi Sagan in young riders. I think he was 21 with 76 hill and 76/77 Sprint stats

2027
The Danes sit on the throne of sport.
In Ronde Van Vlaanderen it was a purely Danish podium where Magnus Cort took the top step. The De Koninck team won the first major cobblestone classic, but the pure Danish Velux team had to settle for second and third place with Geo Andersen and Jonas Singel. It was the Cort and Andersen in a one-on-hand, and here was Cort superior. Geo Andersen was so slow that he actually was millimeters from being picked up by the group behind.
In Paris-Roubaix the 23-year-old Geo Andersen, however, got a rematch. Here he was today's best rider, and he won by 25 seconds to the Italian Rodolphe Ribiere and French Florian Senechal. Andersen was the best cobblestone rider of the spring season with Kevin Hunter, who won both the E3 Harelbeke and Gent-Wevelgem.
Matej Mohoric has had a brilliant career, and in 2027, he has outdone himself again. He won, both in sprints in a large group, Amstel Gold Race and Liege-Bastogne-Liege. In Fleche-Wallonne, the favorites lurk fit to each other, so it ended up being maverick Christopher Bongiovanni, who won the Flemish race.
2027 was also the year when the impossible happened! In the Vuelta Ciclista a Pais Vasco was Sander Engelstoft turned down the pedestal. In fact, he was only number six, but it was due to the crash near the end of a stage, the Dane was beaten. He won, however, as usual, Tirreno-Adriatico, Volta Catalunya and Tour de Romandie before he was sovereign in the Giro d'Italia, which he won ahead of compatriots Noah Arendt and Jan Kaas. The 29-year-old rider won the Italian race for the sixth time in a row, and it is a record. Moreover, he succeeded in winning the green and the mountain jersey and eight stage wins along the way, before he went to Criteirum du Dauphine and won there. Outstanding!
Benjamin Boesen arranged for Danish success in the second prelude race to the Tour de France, Tour de Suisse. The Dane won clearly, and the favorite, thereby acquired a quite excellent prelude to the Tour. Here he was also the best rider by several lengths, and his victory was never really threatened. The one who came closest was French Aime Pineau, which ended more than four minutes after the Dane, and so was Jacob Jensen number three.
Sander Engelstoft also won the Vuelta a Espana, as it has become a tradition. He won several stages along the way, like the other Danish participants also were allowed to range arms in the air. The Spanish tour have been almost completely Danish, and it is here where all Danish riders perform at the top level. They dominate the course like no other!
But then we came back to one thing, the Danes have problems. In the world championships time trial was the best Dane Felix Ballin at number ten, while the Dutchman Joop van Stee won in superb style. Something atypical from Sander Engeltoft's race program, he chose to participate in the road race this year, as it was a very tough route. That he exploited to the fullest! He went solo to the finish, while fellow countryman Henrik Borg Hojer was superior in a sprint against Ulisse Intiso from Italy. Engelstof has reached new heights this year!
