I think you should include the results of sprints, cobbles and flat time trials to determine the flat skill. Success in one of these three kind of races would be enough to deserve a high flat. You would give a Tony Martin very high flat skill despite the fact he is neither sprinter nor cobble rider, wouldn't you? The same goes with Vanmarcke, who is neither exceptional sprinter nor time-trialist. And the same goes with Cavendish who doesn't have much success in TT and cobbles.

@Faillu; thanks, found those as well. 2013 is finished, but can't seem to get the results for 2012. Thanks for the effort though.
@Anderis; was playing with that idea. Will finish the results of 2014 so far and then will test some rankings. Will definitely also try your idea.

So, I've managed to collect all the data on the races from 2012 up until yesterday.

Here is the excel (19Mb's) with all the results.

Now the toying around with the stats will begin.
I've build in a pivot table to order the give a start tot the stats, but will have to fine tune it further.

Again this is open source, so feel free to use it, only to also post your results here.

OK, I've created a new Excel, this time with the calculated STATS inside them.
The formula's are obviously free to change, in order to get more appropriate results, but the first STATS are a fact... I am very eager to hear your thoughts on them.

Majka has done very well to earn the same as Froome and Quintana. But this is a great guide for DB makers.

These stats only take in account results that actually happened, but no results that could have happened. There are always crashes, injuries, illnesses, punctures etc..

I think you are misreading it.
Contador has 80 MO ... yes I know that is lower than what he normally gets, but his results of the past year have been slim. ( or atleast less then the guys above him).

And Basso has 77, just like Kelderman and JvdB

but I'm still fine-tuning the algorithms to calculate the stats... so any suggestions or even proposed Excel formula's (you can find them in the link a couple posts previous to this 1), are very welcome.

Doubting about the max sprinting... could be set to 82.

@MartijnVDD; you are absolutely right. This is only the scorecard afterwards, not who was the strongest in the race. I always see a lot of subjectivity in the DB's and I wanted to create an extra dimension.

For example, you can argue who's stronger in the mountains; Froome, Contador or Nibali. Fact of the matter is that Nibali has produced more ( better? ) results than the other.

I also said I wasn't creating a new DB, only creating a tool or a platform to give DB creators, more insights.

I created a mapping with the PackITA to see how the stats would be altered if I used the created stats from actual results. Every stat column is followed by my stat (in orange) and the followed by the difference (in green).

I haven't created a .cdb, but that can easily done.

I did also 1 other thing (something I also did previously for the PCMDaily database); the popularity of a cyclist. I calculated the popularity based on the CQ points collected over the last years. This can easily be altered in the database so that the sponsor reacts correctly to the riders in the team.

I will do the A.S.O. DB 2014 of OlegTinkov next.

first off, it is not a database.
second... it only the number of points scored in races of a certain kind by a rider.
And yes the races younger the 365 are counted times 4, the races older the 720 are counted once and between get 2 points.
Then when you look at the results in this year... these are the figures... not saying that this should also be the stats, but... those are the results.
