Best battle will be for KOM classification, though we will not see much battle today because only one HC climb comes at end and before that there is not much to offer.
I think Majka can win this if he gives a good try. J. Rodriguez has still been suffering a bit.
Tomorrow (Pla d’Adet) will be biggest day for KOM as there are four cat 1 and finish at HC climb. with max 90 points on offer. And then stage 18 will also be crucial with max 75 points. I think KOM winner will have to win one of these stages.
And who knows Nibali might win KOM too. By default. It has happened this race, some other teams reels down breakaway and then Nibali attacks, and wins.
If Nibali is within range on before stage 18, then I think Astana will setup for Nibali to win at Hautacam. Because before this race he has not had much success and they will take whatever he can. |

Pinot has been working on the psychological side and getting out there and putting in the downhill km's too - his descending seems better for it. He's also been working on his TT position which could prove more crucial. |

seriously, you could start this stage at the sprint point and it'd be a LOT more interesting
and yeah, my first thought when I saw the stage was "isn't this chaingate?"
It's logistical. The transfer on sunday from Nimes to Carcassone was already very long. |

Breakaway was reeled in only due to threat of Kwiatkowski, I guess. He is 15th and Trek and Lotto feeling threatened. Rest more than 1hr back. |

You mean theyre defending 12th and 15th? I don't think so. Kwiatkowski is 5 mins behind Frank and 8 mins behind VDB. I just think the group was too small, many teams didnt have someone in there thats why it for chased down. |

Good way of fulfilling the mininum quota of energy wasting attacks.

Even places in top 20 have value that earns them money, that's why teams fight for it.
Anyway Trek have said they are trying to place Zubeldia and /or F.Schleck in top 10. Letting such breakaway go can cost them. Easily they can have 10 min and 4 min will wipe away. Especially when Trek are down to 6 men, chasing late will cost them.
Certainly when Kwiatkowski went many teams became eager to get him back. |

Currently in the break are Bernhard Eisel and Vassil Kiriyenka (Sky), Jon Izagirre (Movistar), Michael Rogers (Tinkoff), Michal Kwiatkowski (OPQS), Matteo Montaguti (AG2R), José Serpa (Lampre), Jérémy Roy (FDJ), Kévin Reza (Europcar), Michael Albasini (Orica), Roger Kluge (IAM) and Anthony Delaplace (Bretagne).
So Kwiatek again in front, gap is currently 1:35. We'll see if peleton will chase them again.
Edit: gap is up to 1:50, it seems they will be let go.

Garmin chased down the break after missing it, but seriously looking at whats left of their squad no one has a chance of a stage win today so seems stupid to me. |

Interesting course, peloton has 50 seconds on a group with Purito and van den Broeck and Sagan. |

Same driver?
Nice break. Serpa and Rogers are my favourites for the stage.
Edit: it seems break is coming to its end now
