what do you expect, it's currently the most populair form of story. otherwise these type of stories wouldn't have be story of the month five times in a row.
Not sure if that's a good reasoning. Nearly nobody makes a team story anyway, so it's not likely to win an award

I find that it goes in cycles. Started with team stories then one-rider emerged, and it continues to go back and forth. I wouldn't be surprised if we get a few great team stories in the next few months.
Also, new Story Spotlight is up. Check it out. The buy PCM14 news is sticky to the top so it's the 2nd news article at the moment.

I'm doing it for myself. I just don't have the perfect idea yet. That's why I want to hear if You have one. |

I think thats a pretty dumb thing to say, of course the one-rider stories have the same point, just like the team stories have the same point, becoming the best (team or rider). Also i think that most of the stories (or atleast the ones i have seen) are all unique and is written in different styles. Also in my own story ive been trying to be original and unique so it isnt just the same swim as always. The main reason for not doing a team story is because, atleast for what i think, is that it will take too long compared to a one-rider story. In a one-rider story you only have to cover the races your rider is in, while in team stories you have to ride about every race (or just the major once atleast), which causes the one-rider stories to go for more seasons than the team stories. Also the one-rider story gives an insight in the riders mind, which you dont have in a team story.
Thats just my thoughts anyway.
Better to light a candle than to curse the darkness.

I was just thinking about the large number of one-rider stories earlier today. Clearly many people jumping onto the band wagon that was forged by Ian and Mre and others this year. There is absolutely nothing wrong with that either. It just makes it harder for your story to stand out, so you have to work harder to make it unique and worth reading first over the competition. This could be done by picking a unique or different rider, or layout, or story line. It will be interesting to see how various writers handle this in a competitive story genre.
Doesn't make it easy for a team story. You still need quality to get the interest but you don't have to be as unique overall. I don't think it will be too long before a couple of stand out stories appear in either genre and start to dominate the sub-forums. For one-rider stories we can kind of tell who that will be lead by, but for team stories that spot is open to more people currently

I think it goes back further than last year.

I know one-rider stories go further, but the recent rise in popularity and stories is more strongly linked to Mre and Ian than to David or Dominic

Why do you keep underrating other stories? In my opinion, there are already some great one-rider stories, that, to be honest, both graphically and text-wise, can be a great competition to Two of Us.
Also agree with Valv on his point.

It goes back further than that
When I started my Ryder Hesjedal story in 2010, it was pretty much the only active One Rider story. I got out-voted by an ineligible Dan Martin story thats how bad it was.
They have always been slowly growing in popularity imo and the reason for it is because Team stories are becoming too generic.
Make intro -> ride races -> report races
One rider stories allow the writer to invest themselves more into the character of their story. There is more to them than just playing PCM and reporting.
Team stories are a lot easier to follow though.

Damn straight we do
Nah, I guess there always have been both kinds of stories (The Danish Puncheur started in early 2008, for instance), and for a long time, the team stories prevailed, now it's the other way around.
I think what valv said is probably the main reason, a story needs the readers to be involved. And for that you need to have a certain development -> the story needs to last long. That was the case for the likes of Dark Dog or Monster Energy, but few team stories made it past the first few months, while Ian's stories for instance reached the second year in a matter of days or a few weeks.
But I think it's very possible that the things turn again, I find myself being less and less intrigued by one rider stories because as admir said, the preset is often similar.
We'll see what's going to happen, but either way we'll always have enough good stories around, that I'm sure of

That's what I said above, it goes in cycles I feel.
But, truly... If it wasn't for Nerz and Veillux I can guarantee that Newton would have never got off the ground.
And I like the competition, just means Ian and I have to step up our game and bring new things to the table to keep people interested. And I actually feel like we both have come up with new stuff to make that possible.

I feel I canøt start a career without a BMC jersey, so I'll wait for a DB with all the shirts and then try to make a story

I dont know about the Daily stage, but I know on my respective national PCM site one rider stories have been pretty popular since 2010-11 i think. As Valverde points out its really boring, unless you make it extremly detailed and unique, to read a team story as it is pretty much just a race report with no indepht from the riders.
