Nice team for the TDU. Not great in the Champs but hopefully Cadel can bounce back.

With no real sprinter we aimed to get into breaks and give full support to Evans in his quest for glory on his home country. It's a World Tour race so we brought a strong team.
Stage 1
On the first day we had the Mengler Hill just 7 km from the finish and we were hoping for a strong pace in there to break the peloton.
But the sprinters teams controlled the race and it was Coquard who took the win ahead of Rojas and Meersman. We had Brookwalker on the day break and then Nerz attacked on that climb but we had no luck.
Stage 2
On Stage 2 we had several climbs all day and the finish was not flat but apparently no major difficulty was on the way.
Again the sprinters teams, specially Europcar controlling the race but it was the italian Diego Ulissi who was stronger on the peloton.
Stage 3
Again a 4th category climb very near to the end with a downhill straight to the finish.
We knew we needed to get to that climb with our main guys ahead, so we came across Europcar who was controlling the race, just to see our leader attacking with 1 km to the end of that climb.
The attack was very strong and Cadel quickly got to the last escapees. The rhythm we imposed was so hard that the peloton couldn't respond now and Cadel Evans went on to give us the first win of the season!
Now we have the lead and we will defend it with everything on the last 3 stages.

@admirschleck, VoetsT - Cadel Evans is now on a good shape and he is one of the guys we need to make a much better season than 2013.
@Selwink - We have a good advantage but now we must be alert for breaks and of course Old Willunga Hill. Specially Ulissi is on a good shape.
How Stage 3 in TDU was won:
Spoiler
I sent 3 guys with effort 99 to the front and put Cadel at 85 being protected. As soon as the road inclined our team was at the front, despite Lampre and Movistar also put men at the front and soon my 3 guys were empty as well as Morabito and Cadel was at the front with full reed, so i attacked and red bar was empty at the top of the climb, then i maintained the 85 dot straight to the finish.

I'm currently participating on the World Champs of PCM On Line so i don't have much time for the story right now. TDU is already done and reports should come on the next days. After the WC i hope i can speed up the pace. |
