People actualy protest Martin Luther King Jr. day in some areas down there. They said that they never get a white holiday. Which I think is crap. We get off Christopher Columbus day and he didn't even discover America. |

Ask Matt or Dave if they are KKK. Then you can stereotype southerners as racist.
Now if you REALLY wanted to stereotype southerners. Say they all pray at the altar of NASCAR and you'd be close.
Now are there stupid Americans? Yes, I would count myself among them but all of these colleges and universities that keep E-mailing me, aparently liked my SAT scores.
Are all Americans stupid? absolutly not. There has to be some reason that America has risen to the top of the International Totem Pole in only 230 years.

Yeah it's probably .001% of the population that's still racist. For president the two democratic front runners is an African American and a Woman So racist and sexist has gone way down.

Sure it's only one town, and I think that that is one of the problems of the States...
It's just too damn big... You will always have lots of problems because of your enormous cultural differences within your country... Jena 6 is only one example...

Here's hopping that Obama will win... Cause honestly, the only Clinton that I'd like to see in the WH is Bill... Not Hillary... Yeah, and McCain is way too old...

You seem to be pretty sure that a democrate will win... Does the general perspective seem to be that it will be a close race or are the democrates gonna kick the republicans ass in this election?
Btw, how many primaries are there left?

I don't know who will win. There was a movie I can't remember it but he made a good point. He said more people vote for American Idol than President. People have unfortunately people have stopped caring. So any thing is possible. |

Sure the people on the videos were idiots, but if you believe that most of the people they interviewed were that stupid you would surely be wrong. Anyone who answered correctly they surely would not have shown, because someone saying the right answer wouldn't be funny. It is called editing were they show you, the viewer, what they want. Now i won't deny that most of them were idiots, but I believe that this stems from the Monroe Doctrine. We live a half a world away and for the most part the average american does not concern ourselves with what happens out side of our borders. Is this right, no, but because of this many people do not think to learn about europe or the rest of the world. The same cannot be said of someone who lives in europe. They are part of a large european community, and as such have a much larger world view. And i don't mean any offense to anyone, but americans feel as is if they don't need to learn about the rest of the world because of our place on the food chain, so to speak.

Americans are portrayed as idiots, as that makes good TV.
Overall, they are just like any other nation on the planet - everyone has there share of idiots, but there are far more people who have enough brain cells.
In fact, if you want to say any country is idiots, just go for Britain. The Americans voted in Bush, but we voted in his lap dog

I completely understand your point...
The truth is that, for better of for worst, you are the top element of the food chain (to fit your analogy) and that lack of comun culture makes you look somewhat ignorant at the eyes of the rest of the world who started teaching the students that there's a world outside their own country a long time ago. And that's why globalization is having a hard time installing itself in the US... You have no problem in exporting your products to other countries but americans are not confortable with the idea of consuming foreing products on a regular basis... Sure, eating out at a mexican restaurant is just fine but not everyday...
I can't help but think that you will somehow be hurt by your tradition of labeling a lot of things as "euro-trash" f.e..
Globalization is just around the corner, and it will be a reality with the US or without the US...
That's why I think that your position in the "food chain" will come back to bite you in the ass somehow...
Not that I desire it... It's just my prediction...
