@jt: Thanks! While Bellis has a bit of a lower hill stat, i'm quite worried about him actually, as he could beat Ulissi in the sprint. And we'll meet each other quite a few time in these races.
Alex: Thats #TheDream!
@SN: I've liked them since they were at Vesuvio, and i'm really happy i managed to get them in my team now. Them, together with Ulissi are actually a few of my favorite riders IRL!
@Wacko: I've lost a little bit of depth because i had to sell Roux and Schadlich, but Bilbao went from 3->4 xp last year, so he's almost as good as Roux anyways. I'm actually surprised i managed to fit my team into the 2.5m wage cap, without basically losing any quality (except for the cobbles, but i hated those anyways ).
@Ember: Like i said, that's the goal. I'm really happy with how my team ended up (a few more domestiques and i'm done). Now to hope they don't crash out, or lose to much time in hilly stages .

When maxed out:
While they're not at the absolute top of the talent pool, all 3 of them will become solid riders when maxed out.
Kiril Yatsevich, the current U23 World ITT Champion, and Pello Bilbao should already be able to shine this year in the PCT. Especially in some of the less crowded C1 races.
Mikel Iturria still needs a lot of developing though. While he won't become the next Madrazo, with the right training he could become a decent stage racer à la Florentino Marquez.

Last minute changes & Wildcards
After some internal disputes, the team management and Itera have decided to part ways before the season even started. This all started when we wanted to put our focus towards the mountains, something Itera didn't agree with. After some long negotiations, with both Bacardi & Itera, everyone decided it would be for the best if the team and Itera would part ways before the actual season.
Our loyal main sponsor, Bacardi, will take on the lone sponsorship again this year. From now on, we will be known as Bacardi Limited!
In other news, the UCI has announced the wildcards for the Pro Tour races earlier this week, and we are pleaced to announce that we will be riding 3 of the biggest races in cycling;
| Milano - San Remo | | Liège - Bastogne - Liège | | Tour de France |
In both Milano - San Remo and Liège–Bastogne–Liège our team will be led by Diego Ulissi. The Italian RR Champion is no stranger to these races, as he has already won MSR and finished in the top 10 of LBL before. His main support will come from Pello Bilbao, our upcoming puncheur. We're hoping for a top 10 finish in both.
For the biggest race of them all, Le Tour de France, we will send our all-star squad. Our first goal would be to show the strength of our new core team, led by Benat Intxausti and Rigoberto Uran. Both should be able to get a top 10, as they both have done so before. We're also bringing Diego Ulissi and Pello Bilbao, who will be hunting for a stage win.

Although i doubt that he'll be able to win it once gain, it's still a possibility and it would be very awesome. I'll hope he'll shine in his NC jersey on the flanks of the Poggio.
You ain't got a bad chance at a win yourself. Pozzato should do very well for you.

Grabovski will mostly be helping out Intxausti and Uran. However, in races where those 2 are not participating, he will get his own chance. While not the absolute top in a certain discipline, he's a very capable all-rounder.
Aberasturi is one of the better Spanish sprinters. He will get his own chances in some flat classics and flat stages in stage races. While he will be outclassed by a lot of sprinters, you never know if he can sneak in a win somewhere. After all, our very own Kocjan proved it's possbile to beat the top sprinters back in 2011.

Although it took a long time, we're delighted to announce that our 2014 shirt design has been finished! This year, our shirt has been made by the Dutch design company Salita and their lead-designer Deksel.
Without further ado:
After falling back down to the PCT, and mostly rebuilding our team, we felt it was time for a new image. Deksel did an absolutely magnificent job with our request, and the result is something he can be very proud of! Now it's our turn to show the jersey in the hills and the mountains!

1. Kenya Mountain Classic
Starting off in style: first race, first win!
Result
1 | Beñat Intxausti | Bacardi Limited | 4h35'09 | 2 | Fabio Duarte | Venchi - Ferranti | + 19 | 3 | David Abal | Team CSC-Orbea | + 47 | 4 | Rigoberto Úran | Bacardi Limited | + 56 | 5 | Florentino Marquez | Quickstep | s.t. |
2. Corsica International
So close: 6 seconds from the overall win
Only 3 stages, so we knew it would be a close race. In the time-trial only Brajkovic managed to take time on Intxausti. On the final stage which had a mountain top finish, Intxausti managed to beat out Brajkovic, but in turn he got beaten by Pozzovivo. Unfortunately, this proved enough for Pozzovivo to take the overall win by just 6 seconds!
Result
1 | Domenico Pozzovivo | Kappa-ENI | 6h14'44 | 2 | Beñat Intxausti | Bacardi Limited | + 6 | 3 | Janez Brajkovic | Heineken-Cal Giant | + 16 | 4 | David Abal | Team CSC-Orbea | + 33 | 5 | Dario Cataldo | Magna - Ryanair | + 50 |
3. Tour of Vancouver
3x second place on the stages and losing the GC by 2 seconds in the end
The same story as in Corsica, Brajkovic beating Intxausti in the time-trials, and Pozzovivo winning the mountain stage. In the end Intxausti took 3 second place finishes (one a TTT), and ended up finishing second in the GC with a mere 2 second deficit to Brajkovic.
Result
1 | Janez Brajkovic | Heineken-Cal Giant | 21h47'01 | 2 | Beñat Intxausti | Bacardi Limited | + 2 | 3 | Fabio Duarte | Venchi - Ferranti | + 4 | 4 | Domenico Pozzovivo | Kappa-ENI | + 17 | 5 | David Abal | Team CSC-Orbea | + 22 |
4. Sibiu Tour
Intxausti finally beating out Brajkovic & Pozzovivo
In the third clash of the season, Intxausti finally managed to take the win over Brajkovic & Pozzovivo. After winning the prologue, Intxausti also won the second stage and finished third on the final mountain stage. He had a big enough lead on the others to not have to worry in the final TT. In the end, Intxausti won overall with over a minutes lead to Pozzovivo. He also managed to win both the mountain and points classification!
Result
1 | Beñat Intxausti | Bacardi Limited | 8h10'25 | 2 | Domenico Pozzovivo | Kappa-ENI | + 1'07 | 3 | David Abal | Team CSC-Orbea | + 1'21 | 4 | Janez Brajkovic | Heineken-Cal Giant | + 1'34 | 5 | Robert Kiserlovski | Repsol-Cativen | + 2'43 |
5. Tour of Eritrea
The Eritrean mountain didn't prove selective enough
There was only one stage for Intxausti to make the difference, but unfortunately, the mountain stage wasn't hard enough for him. In an uphill sprint he got beaten out by the more explosive climbers; Marquez & Kiserlovski. They again proved themselves better in uphill sprint on the final stage. Intxausti did still finish the GC in third place and teammate & countryman Jon Aberasturi did manage to win the first stage in a bunch sprint!
Result
1 | Florentino Marquez | Quickstep | 9h18'28 | 2 | Robert Kiserlovski | Repsol-Cativen | + 8 | 3 | Beñat Intxausti | Bacardi Limited | + 1'19 | 4 | Natnael Berhane | Jaguar - Eritel | + 1'43 | 5 | Ryan Eastman | Heineken-Cal Giant | + 1'57 |
6. Tour d'Andorra
Starting off with a win ...
Our win goal of the season and Intxausti's most important race of the season. The race started off perfectly as Intxausti managed to win the first stage. He started struggling on the second stage however, almost losing contact with the other favorites.
... and ending with a struggle
In the last 3 stages, the race and goal completely collapsed for Intxausti. He just couldn't find the strength to match the other favorites, not even in the mountain TT. In the end Intxausti only managed to finish the race in fifth place.
Result
1 | Domenico Pozzovivo | Kappa-ENI | 21h01'02 | 2 | Janez Brajkovic | Heineken-Cal Giant | + 27 | 3 | David Abal | Team CSC-Orbea | + 46 | 4 | Florentino Marquez | Quickstep | + 1'17 | 5 | Beñat Intxausti | Bacardi Limited | + 2'06 |
7. Urkiola Igoera - Subida Urkiola
Intxausti again not able to match Marquez
On home soil, Intxausti's main adversaries were Abal & Marquez. On the final climb, Intxausti had to let Marquez go again. In the end they all got beaten out by Dario Cataldo who had an astounding race, rounding out a 47 km solo break.
Result
1 | Dario Cataldo | Magna - Ryanair | 4h52'33 | 2 | Florentino Marquez | Quickstep | + 14 | 3 | Beñat Intxausti | Bacardi Limited | + 52 | 4 | David Abal | Team CSC-Orbea | + 1'14 | 5 | Dominique Nerz | Team Puma - SAP | + 1'43 |
8. Int. Osterreich Rundfahrt
Leader Intxausti losing more then 2 minutes to the other favorites
Our goal was a top 5, but Intxausti was poised on winning his final race of the season. After 4 stages, Intxausti was in the lead followed by Abal & Marquez. The only real threat was the hilly stage 5. It shouldn't have been a problem as Intxausti should have been just as good as Abal & Marquez on paper. In the end he ended up losing over 2 minutes to several riders due to bad positioning. Intxausti fell down to 7th in the GC. He did manage to redeem himself in the TT by both winning it and moving up to 5th overall to secure our goal. A bittersweet ending to Intxausti's season.
Result
1 | David Abal | Team CSC-Orbea | 29h15'44 | 2 | Florentino Marquez | Quickstep | + 38 | 3 | Yevgeni Nepomnyachsniy | Kazzinc Procycling | + 1'02 | 4 | Walter Pedraza | Mobil - Aeropostal Ciclismo | + 1'18 | 5 | Beñat Intxausti | Bacardi Limited | + 1'32 |

1. Tour of Oman
Uran mistiming his attack
Races with only one mountain stage are always a risk and in Oman it didn't pay off. Uran was arguably one of the strongest rider on the final climb but he ended up attacking way to late, resulting in only finishing 5th in the overall GC.
Result
1 | Florentino Marquez | Quickstep | 21h11'56 | 2 | Ryan Eastman | Heineken-Cal Giant | + 1'07 | 3 | Vladimir Karpets | Karcher-Adira Racing | + 1'11 | 4 | Dario Cataldo | Magna - Ryanair | + 1'21 | 5 | Rigoberto Úran | Bacardi Limited | + 1'48 |
2. Kenya Mountain Classic
Uran and Intxausti pressuring the opposition
The ex-Vesuvio leaders were reunited for the first time since 2012 and they did a splendid job. They took turns attacking the other favorites before eventually Intxausti got the gap needed to win the race. Uran still managed a respectable fourth place.
Result
1 | Beñat Intxausti | Bacardi Limited | 4h35'09 | 2 | Fabio Duarte | Venchi - Ferranti | + 19 | 3 | David Abal | Team CSC-Orbea | + 47 | 4 | Rigoberto Úran | Bacardi Limited | + 56 | 5 | Florentino Marquez | Quickstep | s.t. |
3. Giro del Trentino
Uran salvaging his race on the last stage
The Italian race just didn't work out for Uran. By the end of stage 4, Uran was 17th in the GC, 5 minutes behind leader Cabreira. On the final stage, Uran did manage to salvage parts of the race. He finished third on the stage and climbed up all the way to sixth in the overall GC. Definately a bad race for Uran & the team, but it could have been way worse.
Result
1 | Janez Brajkovic | Heineken-Cal Giant | 17h58'35 | 2 | Fabio Duarte | Venchi - Ferranti | + 1'17 | 3 | Domenico Pozzovivo | Kappa-ENI | + 3'10 | 4 | Dario Cataldo | Magna - Ryanair | + 3'15 | 5 | Marco Marzano | Kappa-ENI | + 4'20 | 6 | Rigoberto Úran | Bacardi Limited | + 4'31 |
4. Tour of Japan
Uran won both time-trials
Uran managed to win both time-trials in the race, but unfortunately both Bacardi and Uran reacted to late on the hilly stage 3. This resulted in both the break and some other favorites getting an unclosable gap.
Result
1 | Mirco Saggiorato | Sauber Petronas Racing | 15h20'35 | 2 | Ian Bibby | Jaguar - Eritel | + 1'40 | 3 | Juan José Cobo | Team CSC-Orbea | + 2'11 | 4 | Andrey Zeits | Compal-Merida | + 2'26 | 5 | Rigoberto Úran | Bacardi Limited | + 2'31 |
5. Cartago - Irazu
Uran riding his frustration away
While Uran's previous stage races ended up falling in the water completely, he finally managed to redeem himself in Costa Rica. He did attack rather late again but this time he did manage to close to gap to front. In the uphill sprint he took the better of the ageing Kashechkin!
Result
1 | Rigoberto Úran | Bacardi Limited | 6h35'27 | 2 | Andrei Kashechkin | Repsol-Cativen | s.t. | 3 | Magno Nazaret | FCB - Polska | + 1'57 | 4 | Ryan Eastman | Heineken-Cal Giant | s.t. | 5 | Marco Marzano | Kappa-ENI | + 2'43 |
6. Tour des Pays de Savoie
Uran getting his second of three top 3 finishes
Uran managed to bring his great shape from South America back to Europe. He managed to finish on the podium three times out of four stages (2x second, 1x third). Unfortunately for Uran, Brajokovic dominated the race. Uran still finished a good second place, his best placing in a stage race up till that point!
Result
1 | Janez Brajkovic | Heineken-Cal Giant | 14h41'26 | 2 | Rigoberto Úran | Bacardi Limited | + 1'39 | 3 | Domenico Pozzovivo | Kappa-ENI | + 2'01 | 4 | Florentino Marquez | Quickstep | + 2'16 | 5 | Magno Nazaret | FCB - Polska | + 2'46 |
7. Volta a Portugal
Uran finishing his season in style
While Intxausti's wins came earlier on in the season, Uran had to wait till his last race of the season to finally get his overall GC win. He managed to win the Volta a Portugal after having a very consistent race. On the hilly stages he managed to stay in range of the other favorites before winning the mountain stage which lead to his first overall win of the season!
Result
1 | Rigoberto Úran | Bacardi Limited | 39h52'00 | 2 | Ian Bibby | Jaguar - Eritel | + 15 | 3 | Jaroslav Popovych | Metinvest-Emirates | + 1'33 | 4 | Dario Cataldo | Magna - Ryanair | + 1'43 | 5 | Juan José Cobo | Team CSC-Orbea | + 5'34 |

Cool recaps there. Kinda weird season for Uran: 18th in the final rankings ain't exactly what one may expect him to finish the season. On the other hand, he didn't really suck anywhere, but just didn't dominate too often. Less race days can be bitchy then, since his Top-5 results did not deliver huge points.
That said, guess it won't hurt too much with promotion easily achieved and Uran still being a possible force next year - just as Intxausti of course.

Thanks, tsmoha. Completely agree with what you said. Only Trentino was a really bad race for Uran. The others were just bad positioning/strange AI. Like you said, the top 5's don't really bring in the big points!
And yes, Intxausti & Uran should do good next year (and might do even better with some training). I'm not 100% sure how i'll tackle the off-season, but i do think i will keep the core of my team intact, rather then doing big swaps like last season.

Nice recap and i agree with your words that you either podium stage races, or you are not getting much points and that was the case for Urán in several races, but Intxausti was exceptional.
Your trio of leaders looks good for PT with maybe some added training, so as you say, maybe a calmer off season for Bacardi, still there will be some cap to play with.
I am obviously targeting your certain rider, but that should not surprise you, as i am doing it for three years now and without success. Maybe this year?

Thanks!
About that certain (Ukrainian) rider . He has been and still is a core part of our GT squad, and one of our main parts of our TTT line-up. While i certainly wouldn't mind seeing him at a team from his homecountry, at this point the chance is pretty slim that i will let him go. If i however find a suitable replacement or need to free up some capspace, he might be among the riders that will become available as i'll be trying to expand the Spanish base of my team.

1. Tour Down Under
Ulissi finishing second behind Froome
Ulissi had a good first race of the season. On the hilly stage only Froome was able to finish in front of Ulissi. It was however Van Stayen that managed to win the overall GC after winning 3 out of the 5 flat stages. Ulissi finished on a solid third place overall and teaammate Bilbao managed to finish tenth overall while helping Ulissi.
Result
1 | Michael Van Stayen | Venchi - Ferranti | 17h13'56 | 2 | Chris Froome | Quickstep | + 2 | 3 | Diego Ulissi | Bacardi Limited | + 28 | 4 | Hassen Ben Nasser | Team Kenya Airways | + 32 | 5 | Cyril Gautier | La Vie Claire | + 40 |
2. Strade Bianche
Ulissi countering Van Stayen's attack
Ulissi rode a good race overall, unfortunately he had to let Van Stayaen and Ben Nasser go on the flat part before the final hill. Ulissi did manage to still secore third from a bigger group of 13 riders. Mancuso managed to snag the last place of the top 10.
Result
1 | Michael Van Stayen | Venchi - Ferranti | 4h38'31 | 2 | Hassen Ben Nasser | Team Kenya Airways | + 17 | 3 | Diego Ulissi | Bacardi Limited | + 34 | 4 | Juan José Cobo | Team CSC-Orbea | + 38 | 5 | Tommy Zaini | Meiji - Cannondale | s.t. |
3. Scandinavia Open Road Race

Ulissi leaving the others behind and taking the win
Ulissi powered away from the other favorites to take his first win as Italian champion. He countered most of the dangerous attacks before attacking himself on the downhill and holding on for the win!

Ulissi having to let Di Maggio go
Ulissi had a very good race but unfortunately had to let fellow Italian Di Maggio go. To make matters worse, he got no help in the chase from Ignatiev and Ventoso who still had more then enough left to power away from Ulissi in the sprint. In the end, Ulissi finished in fourth place.

6. Nelspruit Classic
Ulissi finishing behind Di Maggio and Monfort
A group of six riders managed to get away after a relativly calm race which contained most of the favorites. It was Di Maggio again that managed to take the win in the uphill sprint. Monfort managed to hold off Ulissi for second place.

7. Tour of Britain
Ulissi leaving the other favorites behind
Ulissi was by far the strongest hilly rider in the race. Only a few were able to match his uphill performances. Unfortunately, he lost a little to much time in the TT to contest the overall win. Breakaways also made it that he didn't manage to win a stage as they managed to stay ahead in most of the stages. Third overall is still a very solid result!

8. GP Quebec
Ulissi and Bilbao with a good result in Canada
Ulissi launched multiple attacks this race and perhaps it was this what costed him in the end. He had the best position at the start of the sprint and was the fastest on paper, but still had to let 3 others pass him. In the end he had to settle for fourth place while teammate Bilbao finished in his wheel to take fifth.

9. Milano-Torino
Ulissi having to let the others go
Although the race was on homesoil, Ulissi didn't manage to repeat former Bacardi-rider Ricco's triumph from 2011. The race ended up being to mountainous for Ulissi to really shine. Froome managed to take the win after a strong showing while Ulissi barely managed tenth place.

10. Tour of Beijing
Ulissi winning stage 3 ahead of Bobridge and Monfort
After stage 3 Ulissi was in the lead after a strong win. Bobridge did manage to snag bonus seconds on stage 4 & 5 which put him ahead of Ulissi in the overall GC. Unfortunately for both, Betancur and Skujins snuck into the break of the day on the final stage and managed to hold on to the finish. They had enough of a gap to pass both Bobrdige and Ulissi in the overall GC.

11. Japan Cup
The French and Italian champion trying to create a gap
In the last race of the season we had already secured both promotion and our top 5 goal so Ulissi had no more pressure left. He tried attacking a few times but in the end Di Maggio proved to strong once again.
