Congratulations!
I'm surprised noone else went for him.
I'll have 5 76+ puncheurs once everyone is maxed anyway, so there was no point in me participating, especially after I forced you to overpay on Sbaragli last season

Riders join - Riders leave
Being part of the PT now, we wanted a balanced team and so it was unavoidable to look for climbers and cobblers in especially. Something that our team used to ignore in the first two seasons.
So we are happy to announce "star"-signings in that department.
Luis Leon Sanchez Gil might be the biggest name so far. 15th in last year`s Vuelta he is still capable to perform around the top10 in most stage races. As a strong stage racer but also classic rider, he will be very valuable for our team.
Next big signing is young Belgium cobbler Sep Vanmarcke. He surely will be our leader for the cobbled classics. He is not yet as strong as the elite there such as Bewley, Boonen, Cancellara, Burghardt etc. But as 6th in last year`s Omloop Het Nieuwsblad as best result and some other decent performances in the cobbled season, he should be even stronger with gained experience to attack for good results.
Christian Müller might be less known to most people. But we think he is a nice addition for our team nevertheless. The experienced German is a good time trialist and will help the team in all those team time trials this season.
Obviously riders traded in also means that some riders had to leave.
And we have to say, that some big names, that secured promotion last season, have left the team.
First to mention here is Jonathan Bellis. The Brit had a lot of value and after our first transfer plans did not work out, we considered a great offer for him. So he is back in PCT, where he can fully show his strength for the RBC Pro Cycling Team.
Another rider, that celebrated his debut last season for us and already is to leave the team is German Simon Geschke. We considered him to have more value for a PCT or CT team. And so he is joining the new found German CT team Evonik - Signal Iduna. He is joined by our two 2013 stagiares, who were able to sign a pro contract with us. Both will ride for Evonik on a loan deal: Arnaud Grand and Alexander Edmondson.
Just like Bellis some other riders had to leave the team with the aim to make the team more regional focussed. This means we still have a big focus as most our riders will come from Germany/Netherlands/Italy and Belgium with 2-3 exceptions.
But some riders like Martin Velits, Andrei Kunitski or Xabier Zabalo were early told that they need to leave the team during transfers and so all three will ride for other teams in 2014.
But also two Dutch rider were transferred out: Rob Ruijgh, one of our 2012 climbers with some success was part of the LLS deal and is riding for PT team Project 1t4i now while Johim Ariesen is better suited to the CT after being already loaned away to Pokerstars last year.
So this makes 9 leaving with only 3 coming. So expect a lot of more news soon. |

Leader change at Rothaus - Aegon
After Bellis and Geschke were already said to leave the team, also Maxime Vantomme is out for the 2014 season as he was transferred to ambitious PCT team Quickstep.
With ~20 podiums in 2013 he had a incredible season and was our best point scorer. It`s sad to see him leave as he opens a big gap in our sprint department.
Also leaving the team is Michiel Van Aelbroeck, who was part of our TTT win in the Thüringen Rundfahrt.
On the positive side we can also announce some great riders leading us in 2014. First is our 2014 leader Martijn Keizer, a 26 year old stage racer from the Netherlands. He is joining from Volkswagen to lead our team in the hardest races. It has been some hard negotiations but in the end I think both sides can live with the outcome.
Our next signing is the direct replacement of Jonathan Bellis. Anthony Roux is joining from Bacardi - Itera to lead our team together with Sanchez Gil in the hilly races. His 9th in last years Paris - Nice proves his strength on top level.
Also joining from Bacardi - Itera the next German. Lucas Schädlich is one of the very best time trialists in cycling and proved this with a 3rd in last years Giro ITT. Seeing that there will be quite a few TTT`s in PT, he will add the needed quality to perform on a good level there.
Andrea Guardini joins the team on a loan deal to improve on the highest level. During the negotiations it was planned to get him as backup sprinter in races without Vantomme. Obviously this has changed now and the Italian will get a lot of more chances on his own.
Also joining are the two Belgiums Frederik Frison from Bpost, who is not at his full potential yet and looks to take experience to improve his ITT skills, and Sven Nooytens, a cobbler joining from Compal - Merida. Together with Vanmarcke, he will strengthen our team in the cobbled races.
Our provisional team so far:

It's a nice looking squad, dunno how other teams look like, but surely you have a chance to stay up Depends on few factors though of course.
You'll be hoping Keizer doesn't suffer much in all the hilly stages at Grand Tours. Boom, Lulu, Roux offer great depth on hilly stuff and even Guardini could surprise with less competition in PT
All the best mate ahead this season

Alessandro Ballan completes our cobbled plannings
Ballan taking the win in the 2011 Milan San Remo
2011 was his season. Taking dominant wins in Milan San Remo first. Then with the cobbled classics starting also dominated Gent - Wevelgem and the Ronde. In the biggest, Paris - Roubaix though he had to live up with 5th. Still what a performance by Alessandro Ballan.
Since then the victories became less but still he delivered nicely. Last year in 2013, he still finished 5th in Roubaix and now, that he will again get the chance to ride the biggest classics, Alessandro Ballan will try to give all his experience to the younger cobblers. In that specific case this means Sep Vanmarcke mainly as also Sven Nooytens.
The trio should be able to perform very nicely in the cobbled races and could surprise a bit. Other than that Ballan is much more than a cobbler. He has a very powerful engine, which might let him perform big times in the end of a race. We are really happy to get him on a 160.000€ wage. |

It can be an exciting, but also very difficult debut season in the PT I reckon. Keizer will struggle to make top 10s in the PT, even in the lesser attractive GC races, same goes for Luis Leon, whom might do a bit better, though. You have a nice cobbled section though, and like Alakagom mentioned Guardini might do well from time to time.
Is your transferseason done?

Not yet and just got outbid after 35h. So still takes a bit. In especially as it makes other plans more difficult now... |

Gomez Marchante to ride for Rothaus - Aegon
José Angel Gomez Marchante can look back to great results like 2x 3rd at the Vuelta a Espana plus some more top10`s in his home race.
Last season he had to step down to PCT riding for the ING team. And even though he was not longer on his top level, he had a nice season, that in the end delivered ING promotion to PT and Gomez Marchante becoming a Free Agent.
The races became less famous but here a short overview of his 2013 results:
1st | Tour of Eritrea | 1st | Tour of the Vineyards | 5th | Vuelta a Burgos | 5th | GP Sudkarnten | 5th | Clasica a Quetzaltanango | 6th | Kenya Mountain Classic | 10th | Tour of Hellas | 10th | Volta a Catalunya |
Highlight surely being the invitation to the Volta a Catalunya with a wildcard.
Not only those results. Also the experience convinced us to sign him for the 2014 season. It`s a great step for him to be able to ride in the Pro Tour again but also might be his last PT season as the contract was only on a 1-year deal.
For our team he is giving us more depth in the mountain races. Together with Keizer and Sanchez we have a trio capable of decent results now. |

Team Presentation Part 1: Stage Racers
Martijn Keizer 26 years - 79mo, 71hi, 81tt 495.000€
Martijn Keizer is the team`s strongest climber and is obviously trying to challenge in the mountain races. Despite his weakness on the hillier stages, he is capable to gain time in ITT`s, where he belongs to the very best.
The team sees this signing as some kind of long-term planning as with the right training he could become a really good rider in any PT stage race.
He is joining us from Team Volkswagen - Mapei, another promoted team.
Luis Leon Sanchez Gil 31 years - 77mo, 79hi, 75tt 450.000€
Luis Leon Sanchez Gil is one of our most experienced riders. He already proved to be a good scorer on the highest level. His combination of climbing at any terrain as also not losing a lot in time trials makes him very valuable and is an important signing in our PT debut season.
As the team`s best puncheur, we also expect him to show himself in the classics.
He joins us from Team Project 1t4i.
José Angel Gomez Marchante 34 years - 79mo, 71hi, 69tt 450.000€
José Angel Gomez Marchante was our biggest FA signing and completes our stage race plannings. Despite his age of 34 years already, which makes him the second-oldest rider of our team, he is still an excellent climber.
Different to first two, he is mainly one of those Spanish mountain goat with less strength against the clock.
He comes into our team in the knowledge, that it`s most likely only a 1-year project with him but sees a last chance to perform against the best in the biggest races.

Three solid and very interesting additions, imo. LLS brings a nice allround package and Keijzer offers you some nice options for further seasons. I was pretty shocked (well, kind of) to see Bellis and especially Vantomme leaving, but this could become a good decision if those three deliver to avoid relegation

Totally agree with you there.
Was not planned at all to sell those two. But certain circumstances made it necessary to form a very balanced team for all terrains.
I hope that the replacements will be able to compensate this even though Vantomme surely can`t be compensated to 100% as sprints won`t be as strong in our team as with him. |

Team Presentation Part 2: Puncheurs
Anthony Roux 27 years - 74fl, 78hi, 82fi 210.000€
Anthony Roux is our 2nd puncheur and so we expect him to score in the hilly terrain. He was traded in as replacement of Jonathan Bellis and should do well in our team.
We hope he can form a good duo together with Sanchez Gil and eventually can take the pressure from our team with nice attacks.
He is joining us from Team Bacardi.
Lars Boom 29 years - 75fl, 75hi, 78tt 220.000€
Lars Boom is the last of our top4 from last years PCT squad and goes into his 3rd season for our team. although his role might be a little bit different to previous years, where he always was in a standout leading role in many races, he still is seen as very important part of the team even though he might have to have more helper roles this year.
His allround skills will make him very valuable in many terrains like all kind of classics and time trials. But he also will get the chance to ride on his own a few times of course.

Team Presentation Part 3: Cobblers
Sep Vanmarcke 26 years - 76fl, 79cob, 77sta 150.000€
Sep Vanmarcke is a very interesting rider and was one of our biggest targets. So it`s not surprising, that he was our first PM this season and also our first transfer signing.
The young Belgium goes into his first season since maxed out and can already look back on a nice palmares last year when riding for Venchi in the Pro Tour.
With our best cobbler we hope to be a consistent top10 team in the cobbled classics in 2014 and eventually even surprise with a better result.
He is joining us from PCT team Compal - Merida.
Alessandro Ballan 35 years - 79fl, 77cob, 75sta 160.000€
Alessandro Ballan joins us as from the Free Agent market. The Italian is already 35 years but still a very valuable rider in the classics and sprint preparations. You could call him the road captain of our team as he is able to read the situation very well and this way helps our younger leaders.
He surely won`t be able to repeat his 2011 performance where he dominated the PT classics, but last year proved that he is still capable to perform with the best and surprise in some races. That said this year he is not the team`s leader in the cobbled races and so he is having a free role next to supporting Vanmarcke.
Sven Nooytens 26 years - 75fl, 76cob, 76sta 85.000€
Sven Nooytens also joins from Compal - Merida and so is rejoined with Sep Vanmarcke. As 3rd piece in our cobbled squad he is a really good helper which helps our depth in those races.
Despite that he already collected quite a lot experience on PT level and performed some top30`s in the biggest cobbled races. So this surely can help our team a lot as you never know how the pavès will influence the race.

Team Presentation Part 4: Sprinters
Andrea Guardini 25 years - 70fl, 78sp, 80acc 75.000€ 4.1 exp
Andrea Guardini will be our top sprinter in this season despite the fact that he is not maxed yet. Next year though, when he reaches his full potential, he is back at his actual team La Vie Claire as we only loaned him.
We hope that the Italian can do well on the highest level against all those top sprinters and eventually surprise with a stage win.
Giacomo Nizzolo 25 years - 71fl, 78sp, 77acc 250.000€ 4.12 exp
Giacomo Nizzolo is our newest Free Agent signing and our second sprinter. He was our big target the last few days and now we are happy that he decided to ride in our team.
Just like Guardini not maxed yet, but in this case we will take profit from his improvement next season, when he is fully maxed.
Together with Guardini he will make sure, that we are going to challenge all sprints this season as both will get a lot of opportunities.
Alexander Krieger 23 years - 69fl, 77sp, 77acc 50.000€ 4.10 exp
Alexander Krieger is our youngest sprinter with 23 years only. Still he is already in his 3rd season with us even though he was on a loan deal with Simply Red Bull last year. So it`s his 2nd PT season.
And how could it be any different. Of course he is also not maxed yet, which makes it a nice trio, that we have here.
While having to race as a leadout for the other two in most races, we guaranteed him to find at least 1 stage race, where he is our main sprinter as also the guarantee to let him race in Avenir as our lead sprinter.

I thought there was an issue with Nizzolo that I missed something...
And why too early?
