Sutty - Hopefully
Bad day for Sutton.
The first flat stage without a kick at the end began today, And there was no breakaway as Team Sky were setting a high pace at the front of the peloton. On the downhill decent of the first short sharp climb, Andrea Palini, Fabio Silvestre, Theo Bos and Kenny Dehaes all crashed, Some were more heart than others. With 10km to go Nathan Earle tried to go on an attack, but it failed. At the 5km Sky were at the front with a strong lead out from Geraint Thomas and he lead at the front until just after 1km. Under the 1km banner Fabio Sabatini was best placed next to Tinkoff-Saxo rider Nikolai Trusov. Mark Renshaw took it on the line in-front of Steele Von Hoff and then Daryl Impey. Chris Sutton won't be happy with that as Geraint Thomas lead him to where he wanted but couldn't deliver. Chris Sutton came in 6th place, all Sky rider's got the same time as the winner.

sutty68 - Yes, Hopefully he can amens that with a podium place on the last stage.

Average day for Sky.

Judgement day in the Tour Down Under, with the next stage being flat stage. Willunga Hill was looming and it was looking fierce. The winner of today's stage could possibly take the leaders jersey. Today's stage like yesterdays stage had no breakaway because of a high pace from Sky. At the bottom of the first lap of willunga hill Jens Voigt, Daryl Impey, Geraint Thomas, Lieuwe Westra, Dries Devenys and Matteo Montaguti all tried escaping from the main pack but failed. At the beginning of the second and final lap Nathan Earle tried escaping from the pack but failed again. Attacks flared but no one could get away. With 1km to go Ben Hermans and Jens Voigt lead the peloton up Willunga hill. Pablo Lastras took it 9 seconds ahead of Ben Hermans and Moreno Moser. Even though Pablo Lastras took the win he was unable to get the Leaders jersey as he was 1 second behind Daryl Impey. Nathan Earle came 6th which was a great day for him, and Geraint Thomas came in 16th place. Geraint Thomas won the Mountain points by two points in-front of Lieuwe Westra.

Amens for Sutton.
The final day in Australia, and it was a flat one. But the Winners jersey is still up for grabs with three riders all within 1 second of each other, Time bonuses would be crucial. The stage began with a 7 man breakaway which contained Luke Rowe. Both sprints were won by Lasse Norman Hansen of Garmin Sharp. With 20km left the break were brung in and Sky were moving up the field for Chris Sutton. With 10km to go Ian Stannard was at the front of the peloton leading the Team Sky train, He had Geraint Thomas and Chris Sutton behind him. At the 1km banner Geraint Thomas peeled of the front letting Chris Sutton sprint it to the line winning by a few bikes lengths. Mark Renshaw and Michael Matthews filled the podium places. All riders were given the same time.
Results:
Stage:
1. Chris Sutton (Sky)
2. Mark Renshaw (Omega Pharma Quick Step) +0

sutty - Yes, I think Geraint would have been cross with him if he didn't get the win, Seen as he messed up on stage 4
01/02/14 Press Conference:
DB - Hello and welcome to another press conference. What will be the first question.
Press - Well we will start with the first race of the season, Australian National championships. How do you feel it went.
DB - It went Ok. It could had been a lot better. We felt like Richie Porte had been done over by the other riders with not helping him on the descent.
Press - Then to the Tour Down Under, were you disappointed in your GC efforts.
DB - Yes we were disappointed but we were able to over shadow that with two stage wins, winning the Mountain points and 4th in the Points classification.
Press - Where you happy with Geraint Thomas.
DB - Extremely a stage win, Mountain Classification and 4th in the Points is a great tour although he didn't do excellent in the General Classification but He didn't have much fitness.
Press - What will be your squads for next month.
DB - Right, First Tour of Qatar: B.Eisel, C.Knees, D.Pate, G.Rasch, L.Rowe, I.Stannard, Chris Sutton and E.B.Hagen. Mallorca: X.Zandio, B.Wiggins, B.Swift, K.Siutsou, V.Kiryienka, P.Kennaugh, J.Dombrowski and I.Boswell. GP Med: N.Earle, S.Puccio, R.Porte, M.Nieve, S.Henao, D.Lopez, J.Edmondson and P.Deignan. That's all so far.
Press - We know you don't like discussing tactics, So can you at least tell us who will lead your squad in each race.
DB - As i have said it is all about who has go the best from, But i will let you know that Ian Stannard or Chris Sutton will lead the Tour of Qatar. That is all, Thank You

Another great starter to the season, Tiago Machado came looking for some GC ambitions when he moved to Team NettApp, and he has certainly got it winning the Tour de San Luis also winning a stage.
Moreno Moser
Moreno Moser was easily the most lively rider in the Tour Down Under by coming 2nd 0 seconds down also taking the Young riders classification. He also had 4 podium places on stage 1,2,3,5 also a top 10 on stage 6. Only being 22 Moreno Moser future is looking very good.
Matthew Goss
Matt Goss finishes off the riders of the month, But started the first race of the season with a win managing to beat Cadel Evans over short hills in the National Championships. He will be able to wear that with pride all year. |

This story has a lot of potential. My only remarks so far would be the results and screens. For the result, you can put them in a table. For screens, they'd look nicer without the circles. I believe it's # for you, but it might be ' as well.
Anyway, keep up the good work. Your reports are very nice, well structured and results are fine.
Keep up the good work!
