What a bummer. 56 points.
That's more than you get for 9th place in Praha. I really really hope Praha is a more standard flat classic, but the profile doesn't make me trust it at all.
Let's just hope Heineken doesn't get back into the fight again as well with another Pozzato surprise...
ToNE was ridiculously shit for us, and B&O scoring so much there wasn't on anyone's plan.
Just as last season now. Bennati has to get us above the cut, but Croket's Faso of 2012 will be VDB's Tasmania+Lombardia now.
Or a dramatic change of storyline: Ponzi and Ignatiev underperform and Wiggle goes down...

Cio won`t be happy.
Yeah absolutely.
I already plan for PCT pre-season -> season goes great
I change focus and spend 50+ hours planning for PT -> season turns shit again.
I'm about to throw something at a wall.
Important lesson from that: dont plan that much ahead!
The fight will be really tense till the last corner of the season, good luck to both of you!

I guess I'll have to settle for less than top 10 this season. That hurts...

I hope that my team will be the best promoted team at the end of the season and still Top 10 but therefore I need to hope that I get in Prague and in Lombardia a great result as Tasmania won't be a great race for us.

That's not the issue, I really enjoy doing it. I would just prefer if I could use any of it when transfer season starts

Santander's long slow decline continues, the buffer seems to be enough though.

Boonen in provisional lead after Praha-KV-Praha!!! Even though Phinney will take his leading back soon, I must say it was well spent 1M on his wage

Tour of Tasmania
Well, it was looking like it could be a tight finish at the top of the table. And then Wikipedia secured 1st and 3rd at the Tour of Tasmania, to ensure that it won't end up being close at all!
Now let's go straight to the battle that matters, 16th place! A KoM jersey for Kwiatkowski has proved crucial in keeping this fight alive - with B&O now jumping back over Puma-Sap. But it is one that will go down to the wire with just 26 points in it, and Van den Broeck *should* at least outscore B&O's best rider in Italy. Again Heineken have closed the gap, and with Pozzato to lead them, you still can't completely rule them out!
In the battle for 6th place, Cancelarra exceeded expectations and so lifts Simply Red Bull up to 6th. They have a useful gap too, which Vesuvio will do well to close now.
Project 1t4i and Aker-MOT both went will in Tasmania, and now look to Lombardia to decide who will take up place in the Top 10. Meanwhile an improved performance for Wiggle moves them up to 13th.

Wait 26 points? I calculated myself, and while I know I was off by a few points most of the time I did that, I had us still in the lead or at least a LOT closer!

If EBH podiums in Lombardia I think it will be impossible to keep that 10 even though I have three good puncheurs going to that race. It would be really sweet to achieve the top 10 goal though.

Feel free to PM me your calculations, but as you know, all the rankings sums are done by formulas, so are unlikely to be wrong.

Hmmm... This will be tough. Seeing the points given for a PT monument, I suspect we'll need Boasson Hagen to make a top two in Lombardia to get the needed points compared to 1t4i, as their depth should prove key.

Thanks for doing the update, I've been wanting to see it... obviously
26 points... it's a hard one to predict because Guldhammer is pretty good in these kind of races. The hills shouldn't favour VdB ahead of him and Guldhammer is a good climber aswell (not as good as VdB). My hope is that VdB's hill stat is not good enough for this race and I find myself a little bit convinced by that considering Pluchkin's performance in L-B-L this season (which he btw never gets to race again). If I remember correctly he didn't even Top 10 and if VdB is looking about appx. that result, Guldhammer alone could secure if for my team.
Then there's Grivko and Klemme. I see myself having a 60 % chance now and I really hope it sticks.
Good luck to Puma, I guess they kind of hope that I'm wrong

Lombardy should be really fun to observe - if I am honest I am rooting for Puma. Both teams have had their share of bad luck but I simply feel B and O have not bar Pluchkin been contributing to the protour much in the past few years in terms of riders.
Heineken are not completely out of it either, but Pozzato really isn't best suited to the falling leaves race I think.
Absolutely thrilled to see how well SRB are, masterminding another good season next year may be difficult. That said I managed to transform a workmanlike hilly squad into a decent protour one. Can we hold off the hot air men? Hope so!

I calculated three times, and every single time, B&O scored 32 points more in Tasmania than according to my math.
I sent SN the list of points scorers after my method, let's see if I am completely wrong.

It's really nice for once, to be able to step back and follow the fun from the sideline. The last couple of races have been without relevanse for us, and the last one is equally uinteresting for us, despite having Ulissi there.
Finishing 12th or 14th doesn't matter, and we are not in any sort of relegationproblems, and our goal of finishing in top 5 have been gone for aproximately the past half season.
I will be eagerly reading every single sentence in that upcoming report non the less, as this is the most thrilling thing I have experienced for a long long time. Especially because cio really wants to survive so badly, and also nico finally begins to believe in it, and now in the mix also an overperforming Pozzato finishing in his home country.
It will be such an epic end to a long and frustrating season for Festina, and the best possible way to get the beat right up to where I need it to be before the transferperiod.

Do keep in mind, that they only this season sold the new reigning World Champion - Edvald Boasson Hagen. And only in order to make room for new talents. Nico Keinath is soon to be, a subtop GT rider, and Rasmus Guldhammer will be an 80MO/78HI rider next season - Combined with 70 sprint he will probably score rather big next year. Also both Kwiatkowski and Arndt are on the rise to something interesting already becoming interesting next season - Especially Kwiatkowski.
They have previously provided the PT with nice riders, and it seems like they are soon back in previous level of quality. This is by far the worst season, in terms of quality, I remember seeing B&O in, ever. But I suspect they will be able to keep most of the team even if they demote.

What a season for me. I didn't really see this team as being elite, but things really broke well for me. Obviously Phinney was huge, particularly with the Giro, but Van Garderen and Summerhill really achieved all that could be expected of them.
This relegation fight really has been incredible to watch, and SotD is right, the quality of the managers has made it all the more exciting.
