Something to Look Forward To:
As soon as Part 2 is underway we are going to properly introduce you to Franco Pellizotti, Emanuele Sella, Diego Rosa and Fabio Felline. The old and the young of the Androni Team. This will include results from over the years and a few things which some will never have known about some of our riders.

New Signing:
The Management at Team Androni are glad to announce the signing of 23 year old Italian Carlo Calzone after the agreement was made over a few drinks at Enoteca Carso in Rome.
The Androni Team lacked a real sprinter but Calzone is of the quality that will compete for victories on the World Stage.
His attitude towards his role is just what we need at Androni. A guy who will do everything he can to be the best in the World.
Being only 23 years old and already having the quality of a Pro we know that one day he will be the best in the world.

Calzone and his agent pass out after signing contract with Androni
No new day can go without a new headline. After numerous weeks of heated speculation, Italy’s infamous rising sprint star, Carlo Calzone, has finished all quarrels as he decided to sign with Pro Continental Team Androni Giocattoli – Venezuela. It’s his first contract as a Pro. In a nice little place, he signed a one-year contract with the team Androni Giocattoli – Venezuela and as he posed with Travio Rujano, both parties looked incredible pleased. An official statement has yet to be released by The Calzone, but twitter updates have exploded over time. While many people signal their surprise at the deal, many understand and appreciate it that the Calzone wants to prove his worth first in Italy, before he will conquer the world. Other people on Twitter also referred to that Calzones taste delicious, and as far as we are concerned, what looks great, can only taste better!
That must have been the motto of the night for Carlo Calzone and his agent as well. Rumours suggested that they have been partying all night long, drank lots of wine and later hooked up with some local bartender girls. Clearly a sign that he is just excited about the deal and to finally race in the professional peloton. However, they were so passed out, that Carlo Calzone actually forgot that he signed with Androni. Some old taxi-driver had to remind him about it, he confesses. The Calzone is thereby however already proving that he is not only a strong sportsman but also a man too risky to control and too wild to predict.

-Carlo Calzone-
Extravagance, quality & fame
23 years old | Sprinter | Italy |
-Profile-
Carlo Calzone, often time’s simply referred to as The Calzone or The Diva, is an eccentric, rising star on the Pro Cycling EPIC circuit. Born in Rome and spending much of the time riding away from the Carabinieri, this guy is the complete package for any flat or hilly stage win any day of the week. As soon as the big mountains begin, this guy is struggling and don’t expect him to do much work for his teammates. If he fails at doing so, don’t expect to hear anything from him rather than complaints and finger-pointing, The Calzone never takes the fall for his failure or anyone else’s.
He rides for himself, but expects everyone to work for him. He wants to collect stage wins and fame, he is in for the glory and sunshine spot. Rarely will he drop a word of praise of his teammates, but don’t be silly: If you want to sign him, you need to provide him with at least a half-decent lead-out. He doesn’t accept being the second tier sprinter in the team, so you better get rid of that old cow in your team that doesn’t win anything but costs a lot of cash. If you don’t follow his mentality, if you are not with him all the way, complaints and frustration will rain down on your mail-address very frequently. Also if you sent him to a cobblestone races, he will simply refuse to do anything at all. He could be good at them mind you if a team manager can convince him in the future to train this set of skills, but so far, The Calzone gives up just when you start talking about it.
But all these things aside, he is a quite an enjoyable guy and has a lot to offer for a team. The sponsor will love him simply because there won’t go by a week without him being in the headlines and his ravishing good looks will advertise their products like crazy. Reporters talk about Calzone if he isn't in a race, giving you more screentime than you could possibly imagine. His list of friends include numerous Italian football stars, breathtaking models, awkward millionaires that want to take photographs with him, and of course there’s a huge bandwagon of an entourage. Right now, there are at least over twenty official The Calzone fanclubs registered in Italy - and that's although he hasn't won anything of importance yet. Imagine how that number sky-rockets once he wins Mailand - San Remo? The Calzone appreciates friendship and a loyal manager, but that doesn't mean he will automitcally stay on your team for a lifetime (but you probably wouldn't want him to stay anyway). The fans will have finally one great Italian sprinter to cheer for again; you know, like in Cipollini’s time. His reign in the youth and amateur races is well-known, cycling forums all around the world praise him as the next big thing hitting our poor, craving cycling-souls. After some time spending on a cruiseship with Italian Playboy Models, he is now back on the track, looking for a team to prove everyone that his streak of wins in amateur races was just the beginning.

A Night Out Turns Interesting
After finding out about the new young lad on the squad, Franco Pellizotti went with Calzone to the local strip club where Franco had celebrated with his ex team mates before.
Upon entering the club Franco found the faces of two of the women very familiar. After closer inspection Franco remembered where he had met the two girls before.
After discussion between Travio Rujano, Franco Pellizotti and the UCI an investigation was launched into where the Giro d'Italia organizers were finding these ladies.
The Organizers deny everything but the investigation continues...
Have Franco and Calzone uncovered the answer to the question we are all asking?

The girls did nothing. It is the fact that the organizers may be using strippers on the podiums.

Ciao Travio,
I have recollected my spirits and recovered from my last adventure. You should have stayed longer. It was fun. I don’t know if the rumours are true about the Giro Girls. RCS Media Group might be able to do something like that, they certainly have the taste for it. All too often podium girls are not pretty enough. I think RCS is smart to do it like that. Plus, the chances of banging them girls increases when they are strippers, so I approve.
Speaking of the Giro d’Italia: I’d like to race it as the main sprinter for our team. I’ll need two lead-out men to compete on this high level and I’m confident to bring home some sweet victories. I don’t want to ride alas too many mountains but for an Italian apparently there’s nothing bigger than riding the Giro. Plus, if I want to beat Cipollini’s record of 43 wins, I better start now.
I’ve seen that the team also has goals in Brabantse Pijl and Tour of Turkey. I’d like to achieve them. Both races should be a nice build-up to the Giro d’Italia.
Cari saluti,
The Calzone

The Calzone
We bring you some good news regariding your request to race the Giro. You will be there as our lead sprinter but you will only have one proper lead out man, Fabio Felline. This is due to the fact that we are going there with a goal of a Top 10 in the GC and are therefore bringing a strong climbing squad. We believe that you and Felline will outsmart your competitors and manage to jump onto other team's trains. Good luck with beating the record, its doable but will require hard work and dedication from you.
In Brabantse Pijl, your first Pro Race, we are hoping for a top 5 or better. And in Turkey you will be going for a stage win.
Do Us Proud
Travio

Ciao Travio,
The Calzone wants to let you know that he isn’t happy with only one lead-out man at the Giro d’Italia. If you want him to perform on the highest level, he will need support. While everybody knows, he is an excellent rider and a unique sprinter, one thing is sure: Riders on his type cannot perform simply on their own. The fact that you need two lead-out mean at least to have a truly competitive sprint train is well-established on such a high-level. Otherwise, The Calzone will get too early into the wind or miss the speed in many occasions. The missing support is something that will possibly felt in every bunch sprint.
To put such an emphasis on a competitive climber squad is all good and fair, but competing and winning bunch sprints is an art form in itself. While the strength of our helpers really comes into play at a bunch sprint, a diverse squad of climbers rarely brings home the results or is able to fully protect Pellizotti. And obviously with a man like The Calzone, you also won’t need riders for a breakaway. Eventually, they don’t make such a difference in the mountainous and hilly stages themselves as is expected of them.
Additionally, Fabio Felline can also be considered a helper for Pellizotti too, since he is an extraordinary rider on hilly parcours as well. Similar things could be said about Gavazzi or Frapporti. They could do some spectacular jobs for The Calzone, while also providing assistance in the mountains and especially in the flat parts. For example: What if Pellizotti crashes on a flat parcour, do you think that lightweight climbers can bring him back?
The decision is overall very disappointing for Carlo Calzone, especially since he was promised leader status at Androni - Venezuela. This word of status isn’t worth much without the fitting support that should come with it.
Regardless of his feelings, The Calzone will of course try everything to be successful at the Giro d’Italia and the other races in Mid-Season. He likes that you trust in him to fulfill your goals and The Calzone is confident to bring home the desired results. We hope you understand our concerns though.
Cari Saluti,
Agent X
Manager of Carlo Calzone

A Look Back at the Highlight of Part 1
Today, we remind ourselves of the teams only Win so far this season, Stage 3 of Le Tour de Langkawi. After a mountainous stage it ended in a sprint where Franco Pellizotti took the win ahead of Duarte and Spilak.
