You must know some strange results get thrown up when the game is simmed.
I have simmed the last stage of the TDF a few times and a two man break ended up winning by 10'00+...twice! |

Horner still has a job, yes, but his contract expires this season so you never know
The 2nd season is well underway, expect more frequent updates from now on. I probably won't be posting any photos for a while since nothing big happens during the first years, but in 5-6 then we'll see some new stars emerge, I hope.

Expectations where high before the start of the season. Could Great Britain continue their dominance and could Froome toy with the competition like last year? As the season progressed it became clear we would not get a recap of 2013, but in Britains absence a nother nation stepped forward and pick up a flurry of wins.
During the spring, Belgium saw several great wins come their way, coming out triumphant in Tirreno-Adriatico, Harelbeke, G-W, P-R and Fleche Wallonie. Could they continue along the same track just as Great Britain the year before or was this it? Answering the sceptics, the Belgian riders continued their fantastic season in the autumn, winning Tour de Pologne, Eneco Tour an GP Quebec.
The first of the Grand Tours, the Giro, was hit by sadening news early on. Majka, who finished 4th last year, Wiggins, who finished 8th, aswell as last years winner, Uran, where all plagued by injuries keeping them away from the starting line up. Michele Scarponi took a nasty fall in stage 8 and was forced to withdraw aswell. Many thought this paved the way for the big favourite Nibali, but sadly no. In the absence of some major competition, Andrew Talansky took a surprising win, edging out Keldermann and Nibali by 13 and 26 seconds.
The list of injured riders for the Tour de France was even longer. Along with Majka, Wiggins, Uran and Scarponi who didn't start, Inxausti picked up a nasty injury keeping him out of both the Tour and Vuelta. This injuries thinned out the start ranks a bit, and perhaps contributed to Froome getting his 2nd Tour win in a row, making it three in a row for GB.
One man will look back at this season as one of his most successfull ones. Aswell as winning several major races, Valverde was triumphant in the Vuelta. Like Froome before him, he took control early on and kept the leaders jersey for a total of 15 days, picking up 7 stage wins and winning by a margine of 8'23'' down 2nd place.
Belgiums fantastic season ended on a high note with Greg van Avermaet taking a surprising win in the World Championship, thus putting a cherry on the icing on the belgian waffle. The WC ITT was again won by Tony Martin, making it his 4th win. He now has the same amount of wins as the famed Spartacus. Can "Der Panzerwagen" take the record for himself?

I like that you put the GTs in a different spoiler. Could you do the same for the monuments, please? |

I'll think about it, but I don't really think it's necessary. I've been toying withe the idea of putting flags next to riders, but it would be time consuming.

I like it when there is no overall ruling cyclist.
I prefer the results first. |

Another great write-up Cactus, hope you can keep this up like the previous one.
The Tour result was very realistic, and LLS and Kelderman surprised in the GT's which was interesting to see. The young Dutchman could be on the top step of the podium soon. |

The season started with some sad news. Several great riders announced their retirement this year, among them such legends as Chris Horner, Juan Antonio Flecha, Alessandro Petacchi and David Millar. Some teams also changed hands with Garmin being taken over by Coca-Cola and Astana by Walmart.
The spring races saw several of the usuall suspects take the win, among them Nibali, who was looking to improve on his dismal GT-performance last year, and Boonen, who had reason to celebrate since he won his 5th Paris-Roubaix, making him the all-time winner. Sep Vanmarcke continued Belgiums good performance in the classics, taking home both Ronde van Vlaanderen and G-W.
As the Giro came closer, many where expecting to see how high up last years surprise, Andrew Talansky, could finish with the starting line up being a bit tougher this time. He did better than many thought, finishing 3rd behind Roman Kreuziger who took a well deserved win.
The Tour however, was by far the most dramatic race of the year. Featuring a strong peloton, many were wondering if Froome could make it three in a row. Eyes were also on Kwiatkowski, the yound polak who was progressed steadily. Mark Cavendish should his prowess by taking yet another green jersey aswell as 4 stage wins in a row, thereby beating Merckxs record for the total number of stage wins.
This was reason enough to call it a Tour to remember, but what came next really pushed the boundries. At stage 4, Bruxelles-Roubaix, the dreaded cobbled section reared its ugly head. The peloton was edgy all day and tensions where high. At one of the cobbled sections, Froome made the mistake of staying too far behind when a crash occured. He was caught while the few remaning riders at the front continued on, among them where Kwiatkowski and Roche. By the time Froomes group got going the distance was too great and the front group wasn't caught. At the finish line, two time winner Froome was a total of 11'23'' behind Kwiatkowski.
As the race headed into the mountains he was able to gain a bit on the yellow jersey, but the distance was far to great. After an heroic performance Froome came in third, 8'19'' behind the polak. The time differences where huge, with 10th placed Quintana finishing 29'05'' behind.
After such a spectacle, the Vuelta could never live up to the Tour, allthough it came close. Valverde was leading Anton by only 11 seconds at the 19th stage was a time trial on the 21th. Anton had to attack, but Valverde broke him in the mountains before the ITT and there never was much contest, allowing him to make it two in a row.
Honorable mentions goes out to Taylor Phinney who wrote his name into the history books with stage wins in all three GTs in the same year. It should be mentioned, they where all time trials. Sadly, he didn't crown the year with the WC-title, that honor went to Tony Martin (again) who made it five straight wins, thereby beating Cancellaras record.
