Trainer
Jan Adriaensens was a former Belgium cyclist. He was a good GC rider. His best result was a third place in the Tour de France of 1956 en 1960. His nickname was "lemme". After his career was he a seller of alcoholic.
Team
Our team hasn't a favorite for the gc, but we have some good riders for a stage victory. With Hinault and Schulze have we 2 riders for mass sprints. With Pinotti have we a time trial specialist. Pelizotti has a good chance to win a stage after a attack.
goals
- Win 3 stages
- Top 10 GC

STAGE 1: Pamplona - Pamplona (TTT) 16 KM
IT HAS BEGUN. We start this tour of the chosen, this Vuelta, at the north tip of Spain. A fast yet technical team time trial will decide the winners today and said winners will have one hell of a start to this 21 stage race.
Stage Favourites Faema are one of the earliest teams to set off, perhaps a disadvantage. Tjallingi and the others drive hard and .............. they set the first potentially stage winning time of 22'02.
Chavanel looked really up for it, but here you can only go as fast as your fifth fastest man. Alcyon finish down @ 22'09.
The leader of Tebag, Basso, will be upset with his team's efforts. The potential GC winner's team would finish 18th @ 22'31.
Another team which surprisingly disappoints was Carpano, who finish outside of the top 15 finishing @ 22'24. However, Kloden was looking very strong.
France Sport might have done better but they no doubt realise this race is a long one, they finish @ 22'19. Faema's time is still holding well.
Then come the big guns. Saint Raphael Geminiani are really eating up the course, you can see the huge effort required to stay in the wheel at the back of their train.
KAS are going well but slow up towards the final, another team finishing @ 22'09. As the Geminiani express fast approaches the line....
Geminiani go fastest, '12 faster than Faema with a time of 21'50. However, it was not without sacrifice as Geminiani's GC leader, Scarponi, got dropped in the final.
Sami Sanchez drives home Aer Lingus and can be content not losing too much time finishing @ 22'11.
Driven along much of the route by Voigt, Helyett Hutchinson Laroux are the last team that can seriously challenge for the stage win.
As they approach the line one thing is for sure, it will be a close run thing.
Eugene Wacker is the last man to cross the finish line in Pamplona and we have all of our answers.....
SAINT RAPHAEL GEMINIANI WIN THE TTT as the stage is engulfed by grass. David Millar officially gets the win. However, it was not without a challenge from Helyett who finished '3 down @ 21'53.
Not waiting for Scarponi proved to be the right thing to do as Millar will lead the Vuelta into the first road stage.

Auch, that is one unbalanced classification
But 7th is ok to start, too bad we didn't get the goal. Good to see this underway!
Changed my sig, this was getting absurd.

Hmm, that was disappointing, I definitely hoped for a lot more with all those decent TTist I have. But well, I haven't got 1 very strong TTist, so that might be the problem...

Hmm, i guess loosing only 35 seconds is ok, we don't really have any great TTists.

STAGE 2: Pamplona - Viana 179 KM
Here we go the first stage proper. We have over 1800 meters of undulating terrain to deal with but at this stage of the race all of the sprinters here should be in good condition to contest the final sprint.
Shirley (Stella) leads the peloton as we exit Pamplona and Bodrogi is the first to attack in this Vuelta as stage 2 gets underway.
The break get away without much of an effort. The 8 riders in the break of the day are: Bodrogi (Standard Chartered); Clain (Husky Energy); Day (Mercier); Grajales (Cilo); Rice (France Sport); Bongiorno (Carpano) and Olheiser/ Poos ( Tebag).
With 134 kilometres to go we reach the first points on offer at Tafalla. Day beats Clain and Poos to take the maximum four points.
Early on Banco do Brasil and a random array of riders were setting a comfortable pace for the peloton, many riders taking it easy.
There was even time for Cadenas to have a laugh after falling off his bike!
With 108 kilometres to go the break reach a zenith of 9:00 over the peloton before the gap starts to fall. Faema even add JC Peraud to the chase.
Bodrogi would wear a jersey today as he took the max KOM points on offer at the only KOM point of the day which was the Alto de la Chapela which summits 91 kilometres from the finish.
At Estella with 55 kilometres to go the break's advantage is down to 5:00 as Day once again takes the maximum sprint points this time beating Poos and Bongiorno.
The chase is truly on as race leader Millar, on the wheel of Papadimitrakis, looks on.
3 RIDERS ATTACK out of the peloton with 30 kilometres to go and the gap to the break @ 2:00. 3 strong riders as well. They are Leukemans (Alcyon), Engoulvent (Helyett) and Ballan (EMI).
They bridge across to the break before attacking again with 15 kilometres to go. Day tries to go with them......but no chance. The three are 1:00 ahead of the peloton with 11 kilometres to go.
The peloton looks to be in control despite the quality attack......
WHEN.....
....
