Our season finally got under way today with the first stage of the Santos Tour Down Under in Australia.
No win to report on but Roberto Ferrari did well in grabbing us an impressive 11th place, hopefully this will improve before the race ends |

TOUR OF QATAR
Ariel Maximiliano Richeze
Davide Cimolai
Elia Favilli
Andrea Palini
Davide Vigano
Diego Ulissi
Jose Serpa
We are simply looking to jump start our season, so a good performance from the guys is a must.
An aim of a top twenty finish isn't a hard ask from the board but a top ten and a possible stage win would be a lot nicer |

It's called a hard goal for a reason
And Pozzato has a small chance, though I agree it's a bit hard.

Hi, my name is Ahmed, I am from Qatar and I will have my blog here. The reason for the blog is that it is a big part of a PR action of the Lampre - Merida management. This way it is aimed to get the fans closer to the team's rider. I am from a country that is not so much known for cycling and am so taking the outsider-role, people like outsider, so I will have to write about myself to get people like Lampre, easy as that.
I'll start with a story of my childhood that brought me to cycling, people like childhood stories, I don't, so it won't be very long. Me and my family, that is father Abdullah, my mother Aisha and fourteen other women, basically toys of my father, live at the top of the fifth highest skyscraper of Doha. It belongs to my father. One day the electric of the elevator didn't work anymore, but I had to get to school which was on the base of the skyscraper. Usually we take in such situations one of our helicopters, but I had an argument with my father and he wouldn't let me take the helicopter. He said jokingly that I should take the bike, which he took as a souvenir from when he watched le Tour de France. I did to his astonishment. I really enjoyed the bike ride down the stairs and would take it everyday from then on, in the morning down the stairs, in the evening up. That's where my distinctive climbing skills come from.
Hope you now can more identify yourself with me, because than the Lampre management would count this action as a success.
Also I am going to tell you about my race planning, my first race is the Vuelta a Pais Vasco, which already started, I finished both time in the front group and will tell you more as soon as the race finished. My second race is the Presidential Tour of Turkey, which isn't that far from my home Qatar, maybe my family can come watch. In Turkey I will try to show my mountain skills. The last race is the Philadelphia International Championship, where I only will be a domestique.
When we travelled to the start of the Vuelta a Pais Vasco, I was surprised that the team had no private jet, that would have made travelling way more comfortable instead of being between all those common people. Afterwards I called my father and told him about that and he offered Lampre to donate a Jumbojet, but unfortunately Lampre declined that offer. |
