Argos-Shimano statement

Marcel Kittel ensured

www.1t4i.com/wp-content/uploads/marcel-kittel-team-argos-shimano-1t4i.jpg

Argos-Shimano are releasing this statement to respond to recent speculation that Marcel Kittel my be unhappy here due to signing of two climbers. We would like to announce that despite these signings Marcel will 100% be the team leader at this years Tour de France and Argos-Shimano will be sending the best squad possible based on him to give the 25 year old the best opportunity for stage wins for the team and a possibility of the green jersey.

Philip Kilo, the director sportif has said "It is important that we stick to our strengths in the biggest race in the world, in one of the biggest show windows in sport." This backs up the idea that the team still remain to do what they do best while they expand the roster. Kilo also added "Marcel Kittel is the figure head of this team and is are MVP, it would be silly to not utilize him in the most efficient way.

designrevolutionaustralia.files.wordpress.com/2010/11/santos_tour_down_under.jpg

Argos-Shimano look to start the year strongly

The 7 that will be taking up the starting line in Adelaide are:

John Degenkolb
Josh Burton
Will Clarke
Tom Veelers
Koen de Kort
Tobias Ludvigsson
Georg Preidler

John Degenkolb and Josh Burton will be our leaders in Australia, John Degenkolb will be going for stage wins on stages expecting to finish in a bunch sprint where as we have Josh Burton to go on the attack in stages where we expect it to break up over tough hills. Our goal here is for a stage win but believe we can get more than that.

Our new signings in depth

Josh Burton and Oreste Ghita

oi42.tinypic.com/2u8ukjd.jpg

We are very exciting to finally reveal both of our new riders together properly, here is an opportunity to learn more about the riders and their goals for this season.

Josh's calender

Tour Down Under
Volta a Catalunya
Tour of Turkey
Giro d'Italia
Clasica San Sebastian
USA Pro Cycling Challenge
Tour of Britain

Total race days: 60

Josh is an another young climbing talent from Great British, he has a high MO stat of 74 at just the age of 19 combined with his acceleration we hope to see him attacking up the climbs claiming KOM points.

Oreste's calender

Tour of Oman
Tirreno-Adriatico
Pais Vasco
Tour of California
Tour de Pologne
Vuelta a Burgos
Vuelta a Espana

Total race days = 60

Oreste is a cool cucumber in the peloton, his excellent climbing ability and time trialing makes him perfect for a stage racer, something we haven't had before. You won't see him attacking all day but he'll be there and will wait for the right time as he out powers the rest. Not a slow finisher either!

Tour Down Under Action!
Reported by Selwink

Stage 1

i1297.photobucket.com/albums/ag31/Selwink/EPIC%20Reports/TDU111_zps8a99ac7e.jpg

Disappointing day in the saddle for Argos-Shimano as Degenkolb comes in 7th after good work on the front all day by the team. Demare of FDJ takes the stage and the leaders jersey.

Today's hill top finish didn't leave Argos-Shimano unnoticed despite today's results as we saw George Preidler in the breakaway, not succeeding today. It's 2 in 2 for Katusha though as Moreno's win also gives them the climbers jersey while Meersman takes the leaders jersey by the skin of his teeth.

Argos-Shimano will be looking to find their first win of the season on the flats of Qater and we definitely mean business, Marcel Kittel will be heading up the team for a potential stab at the GC but will face fierce competition in the form of Mark Cavendish (OPQS) and Matt Goss (OGE).

Ciclotour, the biggest magazine for cycling fans in Romania will pass as for this month at a weekly issue, that’s four times more cycling news and more interviews, more analyses and more cycling material for you.

As you all know, starting 2013 Romania will have 2 riders in the top cycling world. Petre Lixandru, the new cobble master and Oreste Ghita, the future star of stage races, will ride for Cofidis, respectively Argos Shimano. They will have periodically a page in our magazine, where they will write their thoughts and impressions from the top cycling world.

In order to inaugurate this column, we will publish a face-to-face interview with both of them. Starting next issue, each one will have to deal with his own editorial space.

So, let’s meet the future star of Romanian (and maybe world) cycling world.

Paris - Nice & Tirreno-Adriatico

A hugely successful week and a bit saw 4 stage wins and a top 10 GC finish from new signing Oreste Ghita in Italy.

i1297.photobucket.com/albums/ag31/Selwink/EPIC%20Reports/PCM0301_zps7bf6acb3.jpg

Kittel took bunch sprints in France and donned the yellow jersey and kept 3rd in GC until the first mountain stage.

imageshack.com/a/img34/9242/jd1z.jpg

Degenkolb celebrates in fine style after jumping the pack very late on in the build up the sprint on stage2.

imageshack.com/a/img593/4007/uc25.jpg

Simon Geschke also winner in Italy won on stage 6 from the early break, much deserve win for the hard work he does for the sprinters, Degenkolb obviously delighted as him for the victory. Also a win for the rest of team who work so hard for the sprints.

Ghita, 23 finished his first race in Argos colours at T-A with a 7th place finish in the general classification after finishing top 10 twice in 2 mountain stages. We are very happy with his development and shows he is the rider we needed to evolve as a team.

Invitation from Euskaltel - Euskadi [img-r]https://hl2mp.tsgk.com/hlstatsimg/flags/es_states/euskadi.png[/img-r]

To the management and certain riders of Team Argos - Shimano

In our evergoing effort to promote cycling in the "extended Basque country" meaning Euskadi, Navarre and Aquitaine the management of Euskaltel - Euskadi have decided to host a Basque race series taking place with one race in each season break.

That means that someone on your team is eligeable to take part.
Since we respect that riders are bound by their contracts we want you to have the final word in whether or not they may take part They will off course ride in their usual team kit.

The lineup will consist of as many professionals as possible as well as a talent-team from each of the three regions.
The route will vary slightly from race to race but the first edition will be held on the route used for Clásica San Sebastián.

Your eligible riders are:
Yann Huguet

To take part all you have to do is confirm your participation below or by PM.

Sincerely
Alaon Etxeberdea
Manager of Euskaltel - Euskadi
