I think i have a problem with Vista on my comp and it comes in the shape of that i cant install Databases. Its a rather annoying problem because i dont like playing PCM with all the incorrect Names, and not may teams.
Here are some screenshots i encounter.
PCM Spain.
What can i do, i have netframework installed 1.1 i think. I downloaded Spain from here and i downloaded Titan from school today. I got the folder right in Titan. And yeah. Im a bit stuck...
The problem is that with Vista you can't write/change/delete files in the program files folder anymore. Wich is what all those editor do. There's a feauture in Vista that tries to overcome this problem called virtualization. Wich catches all the changes/delete/create files that a program tries to execute in the program files folder and instead puts them in a 'virualized' folder under application data(i think). This is where the problems start since there now will be two copies of the same file of wich the program think is in the program files folder but where vista has actually copied/changed etc. the files in the application data folder. There are a couple of things you could try, though i don't know if it will have any success.
1. Try copying (or alternativly install, altough that also probably won't be allowed by vista) the entire program to another folder on for ex. your D: drive (this is already not an option for kicker, but with hannes editor it may work)
2. Disable virtualization (since i've only played with vista for a short time and i don't have it on my PC anymore, i can't point out where that option exactly is, a google search should do the job)
Let me now if it works, cause im working atm on a savegame editor that utilizes the same components to import/export as hannes editor, so probably my program will fail too on vista, so im interested in any solutions there may be, i must admit i've already made the same mistakes but i should be able to fix it.
Also, im not a vista fan but there are some general misconceptions about vista that are simply not right, for ex. it's true that Vista eats much more memory then XP but when the CPU is idle it prefetches memory for frequently used programs so that for ex when you start Photoshop it starts almost instantly since it is already loaded in memory whereas in xp i have to wait for 20secs before it's responsive.
