Lotto Riders Refreshed after Camp
Pre-Season can often dictate the success of the upcoming calender year, as a good focused start can put the riders and the team at ease with each other as they head into another grueling campaign.

For the Belgian team of Lotto-Belisol it was a no expenses spared trip to Palma de Majorque, the sunny Balearic, as a 6 day camp was prepared for the riders to bond as well as train in readiness for the early season tests coming up down under.

New team manager Alex Pilsen said "We said this year that we had to gamble and take risks if we are to progress. This is probably a big financial 'risk' for us to take, but the rewards will be greater for us as we can see that everyone has taken alot of positives from this camp"

With Greipel and Van den Broeck amongst the lead riders for Lotto, Pilsen will be pressured on to ensure they can deliver the results expected from their sponsors.

An early test for the team will come in Australia with the Tour Down Under awaiting their arrival. However before that Australian rider Adam Hansen left camp a day early to set off for his National Championship events. He is probably regarded as an outsider for the event, with the likes of Porte (Sky), Evans (BMC) and a clutch of the Orica GreenEdge riders all favoured this year.

Hansen spoke briefly before jetting off "Im excited, I know the team worked hard for me in camp... its going to be tough, but its my home Championships and with the TdU coming up, its important for me to represent Lotto-Belisol in a positive light"

Lotto-Belisol will be just one of the 19 Pro Tour teams looking to get a jump start on their rivals, but with the positive vibes emanating from their recent trip to Spain it could well be that Lotto have the upper hand at this early stage.

I have to say that when it started I was quietly pessimistic about the story, but it's looking really, really good! Love the layout Smile.
Just a quick note, if you want to make the cyclingnews reports more realistic, spell everything wrong Pfft

Rogers Rides to Victory
by: Cycling News

Saxo Tinkoff benefit in first National Championship of the Year
On an expected hot day in Ballarat, the Australian National Championships got under way with the riders setting out to claim the Individual Time Trial crown in a ride of just under 35km.

i167.photobucket.com/albums/u150/elsworthmay/hansen1_zps8280f830.jpg
Above: Hansen looked to have surprised everyone with his early pace, however it soon caught up with him

2012 victor Luke Durbridge was one of a gaggle of riders much fancied in the event, as all the big names returned home to fight it out for national pride. The ride itself although not particularly gruelling, did have an edge to it due to the heat and it was to many people's surprise that at the first time check Lotto-Belisol rider Adam Hansen held a distinct advantage over the rest of the field.

Alas for Hansen he would quickly fizzle out in the second part of the race as it quickly became clear that Michael Rogers (Saxo-Tinkoff) had set a difficult time to beat. As Rogers waited for the field to finish, the nearest any challenger came was Garmin-Sharp rider Rohan Dennis, a solid 16" behind. Whilst Rogers team-mate Rory Sutherland would complete the podium places.

A delighted Rogers said "Last year I came here with high expectations but came up short, this time I knew what I had to do and the preparation was great, so it all came together out there and im delighted to be here as winner"

Clarke Benefits from Healthcare
by: Cycling News

Surprise Winner dominates in Buninyong
Jonathan Clarke a little known rider in the US Continental team of United Healthcare pulled out a remarkable victory today to become Australian National Champion at the age of 28. He stretched out a dominant lead much to the surprise of the posturing favourites in the peloton and didnt look back as he clocked up a 40 second winning margin.

Simon Gerrans 2012 Champion exclaimed "I think we are in shock, not so much in that Jonathan (Clarke) won, as we are all delighted for him... but more so in that there was no real reaction to his break and that we all sat back and left it too late to even get close"

i167.photobucket.com/albums/u150/elsworthmay/auspelo_zps9fd5e2fb.jpg
Above: UnitedHealthcare before Clarke's break for victory

"Disappointed" summed up Cadel Evans(BMC) feelings, whilst Clarke himself was almost speechless as he gleefully spoke to reporters after his win "Stunned, we came here hoping to be competitive but with calibre of riders here, you just dont think you can pull something like this out of the bag. Luckily for me, I just chased the dream and today it worked"

Clarke's victory has certainly put him and his team United Healthcare on the radar this year, but the bigger question will be how will all those supposed big name riders react especially heading into the TdU where expectations will rise once again.

Thanks again for the feedback and for everyone who is reading, much appreciated.

Tough start for Hansen but there is plenty of quality in Australia to keep even the best riders honest.

Greipel heads up Lotto-Belisol down under!
by: Cycling News

Andre Greipel looks to continue his success in Australia in 2013
Lotto-Belisol today confirmed their riders for the upcoming Tour Down Under which starts in Prospect in a few days time. Expectations will be high for the team and in particular German paceman 'Greipel, as he will be looking to collect more stage wins on the Australian roads. [IMG-r]https://i167.photobucket.com/albums/u150/elsworthmay/lotto_zps530b0159.jpg[/IMG-r]

New Zealand veteran Greg Henderson also makes the 7-man crew, as does Australian Adam Hansen who comes off of a disappointing National Championship effort. Hansen said "The negatives of my ride in the Nationals, are going to be positives for me here. Ive had time to acclimatize and its exciting for us as a team to have a decent chance to make an impact in my home country"

Roelandts is one of 3 Belgians who made the trip and he is also expected to play an important role for the team, whilst Sieberg adds another German to the contingent for Lotto.

Only time will tell if Lotto-Belisol have got things right this year, however like all other Pro Tour teams, a good start in Australia can be a sign of things to come... so expect fireworks, especially if Greipel is around!

Tres Bon' FDJ

Vichot out sprints Roelandts in hectic finish
The chase to the finish line, one of the most dramatic and engaging events in cycling as the riders cue each other up in readiness for that final burst.

Today we saw just that as the turn into the final kilometer saw FDJ rider Arthur Vichot have just enough in reserve to speed past the surprise effort of Lotto-Belisol's Jurgen Roelandts, who found himself in territory more suited to his teammate Andre Greipel.

i167.photobucket.com/albums/u150/elsworthmay/tdu1_zpsf586908f.jpg
Above: Vichot can celebrate as he edges out Roelandts at the line

Vichot who was helped out on the sprint by team mate Anthony Roux, spoke after his win "Very good for me, very good for my team... we are happy, I am happy"

For Lotto, they picked up the consolation prize of being in charge of the team standings at this early stage, with 3 riders finishing in the Top 10. Whilst British rider Andrew Fenn of Omega Pharma - Quick Step did enough to hold both the Mountain and Overall points standing at this early juncture.

Echo the sentiments of others regards the layout and interviews. Fantastic stuff so far and I can see a great story developing for you and Lotto.

The graphics are superb by the way, interested to know what specs your computer runs?!
