If the stage really does become too tough for Cav and Griep, Sagan is probably the favourite, but I think Bouhanni has a chance.
Im not sure it will be all that tough though, and I think we'll probably see Cav at the end.

BMC all in for Gilbert
i think it'll be more of a puncheur day, rather than a sprinter
edit: i just don't think the stage is long enough if the sprinters are dropped over the cat 2, and then not enough distance over the last hill to bring them back
or, there's someone like Sagan, that can actually climb over those things

Corsica is the only place where Gilbert's allowed to ride for his own, so he'll probably be in the mix and motivated. Not saying he's the favourite tomorrow, at least not unless Sagan hasn't fully recovered overnight. |

I'd be very surprised if Cav and/or Greipel were to drop already on Serra or Vizzavona.
What I could see happening is something similar to last year's stage that climbed Mont Saint Clair. Riders like Gilbert powering up the climb, reducing the main field to a group of less than 100. Anyway, I still think Cav and Greipel will get over it. They've both really improved their climbing lately.
Kittel will almost certainly crack, though.

Kristoff showing good speed on stage 1 to the point that I think he'll beat Sagan here if things work out tough enough to drop the A list sprinters. |

I've been away since the finish, have anyone dropped out of the race before this stage?

Agreed, but hoping they do somehow crack for the sake of excitement, with the Green jersey later on in the Tour.

Darryl Impey is a real chance tommorrow. Got a great turn of speed and is a very good climber as well. My outsider bet. |

Sagan obviously in the mix, as is Degenkolb and Rojas. Gilbert must be watched. But my big call is Cancellara. He always does well on these type of stages and really must be watched.
I bet you all my money (PCM and real) that he's not going to win the stage tomorrow.
Woops, meant Cuddles
I would say that is almost as unlikely as Cancellara winning. Yes he usually does well in these kind of early hilly stages, but it doesn't have an uphill finish so there is no way we are going to see him sprint for the victory.
We might see him active on the climbs, but the course is nowhere near hard enough to make a decent selection where Evans could win from. |

Sagan is an obvious choice but if he is injured then Kristoff looked great yesterday. I wonder about Julien Simon too, this is the right sort of terrain for him.

Reports tonight (maybe earlier) said that Martin has a concussion, lung contusion and 5cm gash on his elbow that's deep enough to affect the muscle making bending/moving that arm difficult. I think the concussion alone means he's really unlikely to start or go far, assuming that report is accurate. He probably shouldn't be allowed to go, if that's accurate. The other parts - his call. Shame - he has poor luck. It's like Gesink but with talent (sorry! sorry! I swore of Gesink comments for this Tour, damnit!)
It was eleven more than necessary.

He was last reported seen on a beach in Italy with 14 redheads. Possibly. Sensible man.

... the profile tomorrow is pretty flat after the first half of the stage. I would expect it to close up and go through the small rise toward the finish. Seems a group sprint is likely.

Sagan is not injured, he is bruised and grazed, that can hardly stop Hulk from smashing the opponents. So i bet him, or Gilbert, Chavanel, maybe Kristoff.
Cav with Greipel will not be in the mix after the last hill imo.

With such dangerous roads, I hope we get a sprint, and not a slaughter at the finish.
De Gendt already at the back yesterday so he'll lose time. Sagan is looking real sharp and he can handle a bike on crappy roads, so he would be my pick. |
