Tour de Slovenie, 4 Stages:
Squad:
Maxim Gourov
Valeri Dimitrijev
Aleksandr Dimovskikh
Alexandr Diachenko
Valentin Iglinski
Alekzei Zaitsev
Dmitri Gruzdev
Aleksei Lyalko
Stage 2, Medvode - Nova Gorica:
A stage which was much tougher than yesterday's stage but even though we had some bad luck in the break yesterday we try it again today. This time we send Dimovskikh in a break which features some other decent riders.
The break of 6 is reduced to 6 on the final climb
The 2 in the back couldn't get back in the downhill section and since the gap is over 2 minutes with 12 kms to go these 4 will fight it out for the win:
2. M.Possoni (LAM)
43. A.Dimovskikh (CAP)
85. M.Riska (PSK)
116. A.Wojtas (MIE)
Favourite in this group is Riska but since Possoni hasn't been doing a thing all day long he will be the one with more energy left, Wojtas is exhausted from the climb and as Dimovskikh leads the sprint out it is Riska who takes it as expected
Riska in front of Possoni and Dimovskikh

Stage 3, Nova Gorica - Vrsic:
A mountain stage where the manager was so busy with...well 'managing' that he forgot to more pics. With a very strong field with guys such as Vila, Valjavec, Tiralongo, Mahoric and the famous Sabaliauskas it was going to be difficult to do a top 10 since Gourov is already quite tired as I explained earlier. Nevertheless it became clear to me that Vila was the clear favourite as all his teammates really hurted lots of guys. Meanwhile Podgorny is up front after attacking 50 kms before the finish and behind him is Fajt. Their advantage is getting smaller and smaller but it's still rather big as Podgorny leaves Fajt behind. Gourov waits and when Mahoric places an attack he follows him with Vila. Vila is too strong and so Gourov is riding on the 4th place with Mahoric and Senekovic. Up front Vila takes Fajt in but Podgorny takes the stage with 8 a second advantage over Vila, Fajt ends 3rd as Gourov ends 6th
Podgorny attacked earlier than the other favourites and it paid off
Result:
1. Ruslan Podgorny TEAM TENAX SALMILANO 3h42'38
2. Patxi Vila LAMPRE - FONDITAL + 8

idd, but I could have beaten Senekovic for 5th place if I didnt use up Gourov's energy in the final km
Of to another tour...to Serbia :!:
Tour of Serbia, 6 Stages:
Squad:
Maxim Gourov
Valentin Iglinski
Aleksandr Diachenko
Aleksei Lyalko
Dmitri Gruzdev
Aleksei Zaitsev
Gourov's shape was too good and therefore I decided to use him here to keep him in shape for the Kazakhstan Champs which will be his last race (depending on whether he wins the championship or not)
Stage 1, Beograd - Novi Sad:
We immediatly take off for a tough stage trough hills, with 50 km's to go it is the Croatian champion, Hrvoje Miholjevic who takes off...the reaction from the favourites comes too late and so Miholjevic's early escape pays off. Behind him Gourov does a good job ending 4th in the company of Hansen and Mahoric
Left: Miholjevic attacked at the right place and at the right time, Right: Gourov's tank is not yet empty!
Result:
1. Hrvoje Miholjevic PERUTNINA PTUJ 3h20'06
2. Mitja Mahoric PERUTNINA PTUJ + 1'52
3. Adam Hansen APOSPORT KRONE LINZ s.t.

Stage 2, Novi Sad - Gornji Milanovac:
Litteraly nothing happened here and once the sprint was there Zaitsev was too far behind to do anything...Jan Sipeky is today's winner :!:
Result:
1. Jan Sipeky DUKLA - TRENCIN 4h58'37
2. Adam Hansen APOSPORT KRONE LINZ s.t.
3. Aleksandr Kareev FLANDERS s.t.
4. Matej Marin PERUTNINA PTUJ s.t.

Tour of Serbia, 6 Stages:
Squad:
Maxim Gourov
Valentin Iglinski
Aleksandr Diachenko
Aleksei Lyalko
Dmitri Gruzdev
Aleksei Zaitsev
Stage 3, Gornji Milanovac - Top of Kopoanik:
The first and last mountain stage of this tour where Gourov wanted to win some time on the current leader, Hrvoje Miholjevic. But to my surprise no one tries to hurt anyone and the fact that our 3 non climber are able to hang on halfway trough the climb says enough. So Iglinski attacks to see if we can up the pace in the pack and this happens. Perutnina doesn't really chase him but atleast the pace is higher now...but not high enough for Maxim Gourov! Gourov gives it his all and in 1 km everyone is hurt by him and on the top of the climb he has a small gap to the pack. In the downhill Iglinski waits for his leader as Gourov joins him with the Austrian Faltheimer who was in Gourov's wheel during his acceleration. Faltheimer forces the 2 Capec's to work but I leave all the work to Iglinski and in the final 20 kms they don't lose alot and so they will fight for the victory.
Iglinski does a good job maintaning the lead
Faltheimer hasnt done a thing the whole time but in the sprint it is Gourov who seems to take the win and maybe the overall lead?
But no! Faltheimer pushes his wheel over the finish and wins it by a few millimetres :x
Result:
1. Werner Faltheiner APOSPORT KRONE LINZ 3h49'51
2. Maxim Gourov CYCLING TEAM CAPEC s.t.
3. Valentin Iglinski CYCLING TEAM CAPEC s.t.
4. Davide Bragazzi TEAM ENDEKA + 1'12

18 Davide Silvestri TEAM ENDEKA s.t.
19 Thomas Bontenackels TEAM PZ - RACING AACHEN s.t.
20 Jakub Kasidlo DUKLA - TRENCIN + 3'05

22 Gregor Zajc PURIS - KAMEN - PAZIN s.t.
23 Ronny Poelvoorde FLANDERS s.t.
24 Jan Sipeky DUKLA - TRENCIN s.t.
25 Andrew Roche TEAM MURPHY & GUNN - NEWLYN s.t.
Stage 4, Kopaonik Brus - Vransjka Banja:
In this flat stage we get our somewhat unexpected revenge for our 2nd place yesterday...Zaitsev surprises everyone including me by taking the win in the final sprint. But a picture wasn't made of this great win ops:
Result:
1. Aleksei Zaitsev CYCLING TEAM CAPEC 4h14'44
2. Vladislav Borisov OMNIBIKE DYNAMO MOSKOW s.t.
3. Tjarco Cuppens TEAM PZ - RACING AACHEN s.t.

23 Hugo Gootjes RUITER DAKKAPELLEN WIELERTEAM s.t.
24 Bas Robroek TEAM PZ - RACING AACHEN s.t.
25 Jan Sipeky DUKLA - TRENCIN s.t.
GC with 2 stages to go:
1. Hrvoje Miholjevic PERUTNINA PTUJ 16h24'10
2. Maxim Gourov CYCLING TEAM CAPEC + 48
3. Adam Hansen APOSPORT KRONE LINZ + 1'52
4. Valentin Iglinski CYCLING TEAM CAPEC + 3'14
5. Werner Faltheiner APOSPORT KRONE LINZ + 3'40
It seems impossible to win this tour with 2 stages to go, Miholjevic is the better rider when the terrain is hilly but you never know what Maxim Gourov can do!

Youve just got to hate idiots like Werner Faltheiner, doing no work and being rewarded for it. |

iddbut I will have sweet revenge
Tour of Serbia, 6 Stages:
Squad:
Maxim Gourov
Valentin Iglinski
Aleksandr Diachenko
Aleksei Lyalko
Dmitri Gruzdev
Aleksei Zaitsev
Stage 5, Vranje - Niska Banja:
This was the last tough stage and perhaps someone could grab the lead from Miholjevic who has been in the lead from the start. But none of the favourites is going to win today's stage as a break of 5 has an immense lead with a certain Brit being stronger than the rest as he takes off with 50 kms to go
Left: Urquhart is no threat to Miholjevic, Right: The remaining 4 dont co operate at all and Urquhart is going to win today
Once Urquhart is over the line we look at what's happening in the back, 5 minutes later Slota wins the sprint of those who couldn't follow the Brit but behind there many favourites try to attack even though Perutnina does a good job in maintaining a high pace. Still, 4 guys manage to get away but Perutnina send someone with them...the 4 are Mahoric, Hansen, Bragazzi and...Gourov. They fight for the place 6 till 9 but whats most important for them is winning time on the others, how will this attack affect the GC?
Then I realize that Miholjevic isnt in this break...Will Gourov take the...overall lead ???
Result:
1. Duncan Urquhart AGISKO - VINER - CYCLING.TV 5h35'22
2. Jakub Slota DUKLA - TRENCIN + 4'48
3. Nan-Simon Dekker RUITER DAKKAPELLEN WIELERTEAM s.t.

GC with 1 (flat) stage to go:
1. Maxim Gourov CYCLING TEAM CAPEC 22h07'10
2. Hrvoje Miholjevic PERUTNINA PTUJ + 7
Hiigh Fiive!
the final stage which is flat, but anything can happen...
Stage 6, Nis - Topola:
With Gourov in the lead we didnt mind a break getting away...the break gets smaller and with 20 kms to go 4 are left with a Capec man amongst them, but it would soon be 3...
Left: Lyalko, Weiss, Nestor and Williamson with a lead that should be enough for the win, Right: Disaster strikes for Williamson!
Meanwhile in the pack disaster strikes for Perutnina while the 3 in the break start their sprint!
Miholjevic loses his 2nd place to Hansen while Mahoric gives up , Right: Lyalko in a perfect position
and when you have the best sprint, energy left, and in the best position you finish it off like you should do B)
Lyalko who has suffered troughout the hills and the mountains grabs the stage B)
So, lots of unexpected succes in this tour for Capec... B)

Will a Capec rider get to wear the Kazakh Champ jersey next year? And if so, who?

From the Team Capec HQ
Astana, KZ: Today Team Capec hosted an important press conference, here is what he had to say:
"Well first of all Im not leaving to clear some things up, but I do have some anouncements...
First of all we parted ways with the following five riders, they won't leave immediatly but per 25-7 they will have to look for another team, the 5 are: Meddianikov, Vdovinov, Yuda, Gruzdev and Jumabekov. That leaves us with 10 riders so I think you can already see where im going to. As youi all know our jersey changed because we wanted to show the world that Capec wanted to leave the pas behind them and become a seriously strong team that aims for Pro Tour. On our jersey you could see the sponsors Air Astana and Ford, these were their demands back then
Ford
 Sign Riders from the UK, Australia and the USA
 Also be more active in races in these countries from next year on
Air Astana
 Sign riders from nearby countries (Belarus, Ukraine and Russia) and from the Baltic Area (Estonia, Lithuania, Latvia)
 Atleast 10 Kazakh riders
We have 10 riders then, so our plan is to get around 2 riders from all the countries listed and 3 from the baltic area (1 per country) But when there are some real great riders available in the offseason we could take more than 2 per country. We will have a minimum of 25 riders and a maximum of 30 and our aims are high next year. But since there is still lots of talent out there on the market we decided to start off with signing riders right now, now that the budget allows it...so here they are, all our signings:
and per 31-7 this guy will also join us:
Most of these guys will not see many action this year but expect them to show up next season!"
Next: All NAtional Champions + June Review and after that we will go to France for our only race in July

Nice signing in 2 Welsh riders, Thomas + Winn, although why Julian Winn is listed as 23 years old, I have no idea. He is actually 33. |

Basso wins le Tour but a certain Operacion takes away his title and Sastre is the official TDF Winner!
Since a Slowakian race was accidentaly simmed we head to France for a criterium and our only race of the month
Criterium de Lisieux
Only 2 riders could participate here and for Capec Zaitsev and Iglinski are the lucky ones to participate, a break makes with Iglinski involved but a man from the north is just a bit too strong
Kaggestad beats Iglinski by a small margin
