That's a nice introduction Jean!
Really curious which team you'll end up.
I got a feeling that you'll ride at IAM or maybe BMC, but it could be a French team or even a team of an other country as well

Time to answer some more fan mail, I reckon!

That's a tough one, and I knew it was coming at some point.
Historic: Ferdi Kübler. He was Swiss and an amazing climbing talent. He had an unorthodox way of climbing and was famous for attacking early in the stage and often take the win at the end. My grandfather was a big fan, my father told me all the stories about him, and I will tell them to my son, if I ever have one.
Modern: Tough call. Maybe Joaquin Rodriguez. He's an amazing talent and always gives 100%. Betancur also has me under a spell, I'd love to see him in the peloton this year!
Hope that satisfies as an answer!

And if Kübler is my favorite rider of all time, Koblet is a close second. He was quite opposite, though. He was incredibly vain and had the most elegant style. If I could match his abilities, I'd consider myself the most happy man alive. His decline and death was very tragic indeed.
Also a special thanks to krisa, sutty68 and MrUfo87 for showing interest! And we'll just see about that, sutty, but I have high hopes! However I'm only starting, if I'm talented enough and I work hard enough, the wins will come!
Thanks a lot!

Good luck Jean. Postings might go a bit fast for me to reply always but I'll still be there in spirit, don't worry! |

Spoiler Maybe not an unimportant question: do you care about the story already going on, or would you rather have it had started/waits until the actual release of PCM13? There are 5 more reports ready before actual racing can begin anyway, though. But I don't know if you'd prefer them at the release closer together, or now in advance one day apart? |

Choose yourself. And please, please try to run it slower , 1 post per day is great.
In last story,it was too fast. I know i am doing that too,but just noticed how hard it is to follow on that way

@The website maker:
Spoiler It's fine Ian, it keeps me more curious for the actual story, and as long as you have enough reports until PCM 13, it's all fine for me
And last story might be a little bit too fast, but not a lot, personally, for me, it was fine.

We're now the 26th of October, 2012. My contract allows me to reveal the name of my employer for the next year! I will present the team and shortly discuss the riders. I won't do this too extended, though. You'll get to know the team throughout the year, I'm sure!
Yes indeed! I have signed a one-year contract with Française des Jeux! First, let me explain how that happened.
As I said before, my father set up the test for me. I told you he was a cyclist in his time, but he was actually pretty good. He rode one season for a top team (what now would be a World Tour Team), and his team mate in that year (1990) was Marc Madiot, now Directeur Sportif at FDJ.
The tests were really hard, especially since this is a World Tour team, but I passed. I will have to prove I'm worth it, though, and I only have one year to do it! It's a lot of pressure but I have all the confidence that it'll work. Riding at this team also gives me opportunities to get experience at the top level. However, I will have to fight for starting lists. But that's okay, I don't want to rush into the big races immediately. I want make a smooth transition, so .1 and .HC races will be great to start out with, in a helping or free role!
My outfit for the next year!
This is a World Tour team, which means the expectations are very high. It also means I will be working hard this year for the team leaders. I'm sure I will learn a lot this way. FDJ is a perfect team to develop for me. FDJ specializes in young riders and development. I'm proud to be part of that.
William Bonnet | Francis Mourey | David Boucher | Laurant Mangel | Nacer Bouhanni | Yoann Offredo | Sandy Casar | Laurent Pichon | Arnaud Courteille | Cédric Pineau | Mickaël Delage | Thibaut Pinot | Arnaud Démare | Jean Rémy | Kenny Elissonde | Dominique Rollin | Pierrick Fédrigo | Anthony Roux | Damien Gaudin | Jérémy Roy | Alexander Geniez | Geoffrey Soupe | Anthony Geslin | Benoît Vaugrenard | Arnold Jeannesson | Jussi Veikkanen | Mathieu Ladagnous | Arthur Vichot | Johan Le Bon | Émilien Viennet |
This is a squad full of talent, obviously. FDJ is filled with youngsters ready to take on any challenge opposing them.
The Sprinting Squad: Two of the most promising Frenchmen hope to lead the team to many a victory: Démare and French Champion Bouhanni. Both are powerful and handle length, hills and tough terrain well! They are helped by other talented sprinter Soupe.
The Classic Squad: Not our best feature, but Offredo is a beast. He's one of the major talents, but faced a suspension this year, concerning the whereabout system. He will be back this season to take on the cobblestones. Damien Gaudin left Europcar to join us and is a promising guy, he's a real bull, indestructible!
The Climbing Squad: All eyes are on Pinot. France hopes he is the next Tour winner. But there are many other strong climbers here, such as Geniez, Mourey, Casar...
I signed my contract in August, three copies were made, one for me. I'll post it here, for those who want to read it. But to sum it up: I promise to give it my all for FDJ, work hard and stay doping-free, in return I will receive guidance, gear and a chance to race. Not unimportant, my wage is also discussed, to be divided in 12 equal parts, for each month.
Length of Contract: 01/01/2013 - 31/12/2013
Gross Annual Pay: €36.000
Full Contract
All in all, it's a good contract. I'm guaranteed training, training gear and race days, that's all I need to prove myself. I actually just received my bike and outfit, so I will test it out tomorrow! Gina will come with me and take some pictures!
The pay is quite good for a starting professional, coming down to €3.000/month. However, that's gross, and planning a wedding, I tell you, I'll need to money! Gina's got an expensive taste...
It might be a good time to talk about what I want to achieve in cycling, as well. Obviously, I don't know how far I can reach, but I have certain dreams, and making them come true would be sheer heaven. This is a limited list of my hopes and dreams.
Win Tour de Suisse
Win Tour de Romandie
Become National Champion
Win Stages in all 3 Grand Tours
Win the Mountain Classification in the Tour de France
Good to know, pcm2009fan!
Thanks, admirschleck, Jesleyh, sutty68 & TimoCycling!!
See you in a little while!

Nice presentation Jean! And nice team choice, who doesn't love FDJ?
But how can you name Offredo for the cobbles and not Ladagnous?
Some tough goals! But I think you can do that, you're a big talent Jean!
