Energy gel explained: +5 ACC for about 15 seconds. Not incredibly helpful, but it can be the difference in whether or not Cav gets dropped on the Poggio.
Source?
Not that I don't believe you, it's just the first time I have heard of this.
Same here. An ACC boost makes sense though. Or was 5ACC a hyperbole as well?
Not a hyperbole. I just did some math comparisons. It's sad though, because if it doesn't activate quickly, then it becomes useless...

It's not cheating.
Think of it like that. If you play at normal, and you use training camps - it's like playing at easy ( if not even easier than easy difficulty - just depends how much days you spent and how much stats you gain )
So for me I don't see any point in using them.

what about Recon and Pre Season training camps? would most people consider them cheating or not, or are they only generally percieved as acceptable up to a certain level?

Pre-Season TC is okay, as it only really affects January/ Early Febraury races.
However, it still gives you massive advantage over any other team at TdU for example.
I don't use them, but definitely acceptable. Never used recon's so can't comment.
And I wouldn't worry, if it's perceived acceptable or not, its your gaming and its your game to enjoy, so play it how you enjoy it most

I try to play the game without exploiting it as much as possible so I was wondering whether people cosidered tehm as exploitive or not.
e.g. I would use a pre season training camp but only to get my riders up to a similar level of fitness as each other as the variation at the start seems totally random and can be quite a difference, I think i've seen riders on my team have a range of at least 10 points difference on teh opening day of teh season and I can't see anything I can do to influence it.
I'm currently undecided on whether I want to use recon camps or not though, I would if it eliminated the chance of anything below 0 for daily form but if it almost garuntees a 4 or 5 then I wouldn't, I've not really figured out exactly how it works yet though so can't decide.

For me it is simple. I dont worry if using the camps or gels is cheating or whatever, but i dont ude them, as the game is too easy with them = not much fun.
Game is easy enough with strong team on extreme or weaker team on hard difficulty, so why make it even easier.

With a sucky team, I definitely use pre-season camp, because I can use the points I gather at the Tour Down Under never use other camps, though sometimes a reckon, because that only affects daily form, see no harm in that. Especially since I never seem to get my fitness levels right.
Gel always gets messed up anyway. By taking screenshots during the race I always accidentally activate it (pressing U for CTRL+U)
But, no, camps are not cheating. Using editors someone made to manipulate the game is cheating
But in singleplayer you can only cheat yourself, so who cares? |

2 mountain camps for the Tour with an average rider like Mollema = winning the tour and soundly beating Contador and Froome on extreme.
Yeah... training camps aren't cheating they are the blood tranfusions of PCM |

I gather there is general support against calling any of this activity cheating, unless we construe cheating as something that is ethically permissible. So really, it isn't a cheating problem at all, but a balance issue. Which was sort of my point.
In terms of balance, it seems that the training camps are over-balanced when you have strong riders and/or a strong team. But to put it into perspective, starting a career with a custom team at 0% financing and restricting myself to only young riders on startup (no free riders), and setting the highest difficulty, more than compensates for the advantage of training camps. In fact, I can hardly afford training camps for the first couple years. Conversely (as many have pointed out) if you start managing an established team, at any difficulty, training camps more or less guarantee a win.
I think the idea of temporary stat bonuses from training is a good one. It just needs to be executed better. I don't know the interior of the database well. Is there a mechanism for altering how the training camps work there? |
