What a show of force from Cancellara.
Van Garderen did well to position himself there, hope this bodes well for his chances in the hilly stages. Still think Denifl stands a better chance of placing in the top 10 overall.

Contador and Rolland safely inside the pack, which is good as they are the riders I'm relying on for a decent GC result.
The team supported Guerao in an attemt to take him safely to the line, which is also pitch perfect. This stage was always going to be too difficult for him, and only a really slow pace could've kept him with the pack. He seemed to hold on for quite some time though which makes me wonder whether or not he can actually compete on stage 3 which I was initially hoping for. If not, then the team atleast seems confident enough to position him well on the last stage. I probably build in too poor a train though.
So far so good.

Not the best start, seeing "Nationality-bonused" Holloway heavily struggled in bunch sprint. When I read report and several notable sprinters had been dropped I was pretty confident about podium

I am pleased with how offensive the team is riding, showing that while we're in the continental tour, we're not a bad team.

Smowz had me searching for the stage 2 thread for a moment there
No gaps between the favorites and 3 guys with Machado until the end. Couldn't expect better.

Yeah, me too
Contador and Rolland still safe inside the pack, with no energy wasted so far. Thats good. Also nice that Guerao didn't make it across to sprint for 20th position. That would have ticked me off - Hoping for him to stick to the end on the real stage 3
Contador took it a wee bit easy today in the finish, I can't bare if he loses time due to taking it too easy in the final 3km.
For now everything looks the way it should. Contador and Rolland in no stupid time gaps, not using up important energy and hopefully fresh and ready for the 3 important stages.

Oops! Edited it back now.
Actually was pleased enough with the outcome really - it was a hilly stage and Van Stayen was with the pack until the end. He has chances to snatch back that jersey, though Impey remains dangorous. on the next stage.

Actually it looked even better for Rabon and my team when it was around 750m to go. Uran safely in the pack, good race so far.

Well done by Impey to just be able to hang on, eventhough the sprint proved too much for him. Will be very interesting to see what happens on stage 3, that's probably his last chance for a stage win.

That was really dissapointing. Contador did what he was supposed to and tried to follow Machado but couldn't. Atleast he could've kept on charging to finish in the stage top 3 for some points. Guerao made it to the line in the pack, but decided not to sprint.
That was a huge let down. Machado will clearly win this one.

Nice. Looks like I might get more points here than at the Giro! It'd be nice to win a KoM jersey. Hopefully Wyss/Pavarin will keep focused on that and possible stage wins. |

Meh.
Well, Machado should've been better in the end anyway, but that pretty much kills the small chance of staying ahead.
Not participating in the sprint doesn't help competing for green either.
Congrats to Pearl though for sure, that gives Machado a nice edge on all others.

Brilliant win by Machado, congratulations once again! Is this the moment when Pearl Adidas picks up the pace, with wins in California and Giro d'Italia the same day?
Big surprise by Biondo. A pleasant one too!

That stage was an interesting one. At least my entire team sat with the main bunch. That's a good sign... For Greipel.
Voeckler needs to attack and gain KoM points now.

Guerao is lacking the last bit of energy to compete for sprints like this. I actually though he would be further behind, so with the estimated training fee I'm going to offer him during the next off season he should absolutely be within touching ground on stages like this. That's pretty nice.
Hoping he can do something on the last stage.
Contador and Rolland still safely in the front group of 47 riders. Contador should be easily inside top 20, perhaps top 15 after the TT, while Rolland should be in top 10. I can only hope that the mountains will be a battle between Contador and Machado, with a gap of a minute or so to the next riders, such as Brajkovic.
