Cool, you've started a new story! I will try to follow!

Will you add loads of U23 races again, or was that only because of you running a U23 team last time? Wink

Australian Championship
January 8th, 2013
Buninyong – Buninyoung: 195.5 kms - Flat

The first race of the season is up to Cadel Evans as he races the other Aussies to wear the jersey of the National Champion. With a route that is only casually hilly and good sprinters in the field, Evans will have to make a hard move to try and drop them. To make matters worse, he doesn't have any teammates to help him during the race.
i12.photobucket.com/albums/a218/Centaursunder/BMC/2013/NCs/AUS1.jpg

So with only 15km remaining and one last time up the hill Cadel attacks, and separates gaining just about 45 seconds up the climb, only needing to hold onto it while Greenedge, Blanco and Sky finally started to work together to chase Evans down.
i12.photobucket.com/albums/a218/Centaursunder/BMC/2013/NCs/AUS2.jpg

For Cadel it wasn't meant to happen the Australian Greenedge team was just too strong to let one man breakaway at the end, but the team would get its sprint train messed up in the process as they had to burn too much catching up. This left the sprint wide open for everyone. Veteran and longtime LeadOut man Mark Renshaw (Blanco) would take advantage and win the Championship.

I kept all the races I added (which includes some that were already past before I started adding for the Bontrager game) The kids will ride the Tour Down Under to start their season. Would you like to have all the U23 races posted? (It takes me about 30 seconds to post a race, so it would just be an issue of clogging up the board.)

I'll certainly keep everyone updated on them and post major races either way.

Nah, it's not really necassary to me. You're not a CT team, so it's not a big focus I think Wink
An update for example half-way the season about some of the best ones would be nice, though Wink

Edit: No chance for Evans in the Australian NC, but well, it's hard to win from Orica there... More luck in the TT, maybe? Smile

Australian Championship (ITT)
January 10th, 2013
Ballarat: 37 kms - Flat

The other half of the Australian Championships is the 37km time-trial around Ballarat and Lake Burrumbeet. The course is mostly flat with a gradual decent for the first half and the ascent back to Ballarat in the second half.

Luke Durbridge (Orica) would get the put how power on display fairly early and put over a minute on everyone with large time gaps at the checkpoints as well. Durbo the Turbo was setting an example and a hard time for anyone to keep up with.
i12.photobucket.com/albums/a218/Centaursunder/BMC/2013/NCs/AUSTT1.jpg

Cadel Evans would be the first real challenger to Durbridge's time, leading him by 9 seconds at both the first and second intermediate checkpoints. The time would falter a little as he approached the finish as he nearly caught Cameron Meyer the rider ahead of him but then lost some power and watched Meyer pull back away. His time would remain good enough though 3 seconds ahead of Durbridge, but a pushing Richie Porte riding behind him would decided the race.
i12.photobucket.com/albums/a218/Centaursunder/BMC/2013/NCs/AUSTT2.jpg

Richie Porte (Sky) would be the 2nd to last rider to leave, and the final of the triumvirate that would finish around 45 seconds faster than anyone else. Going through the first checkpoint Porte would equal Luke Durbridge's time, nine seconds behind Evans. The second checkpoint would see him gain time on Evans, only seven seconds back, now two seconds ahead of Durbridge. The end of the race would be a challenge to Porte as well; though he still gained time on Evans, but only two seconds finishing 3rd, five seconds off of Evans winning time.

Santos Tour Down Under
January 17th – 22nd, 2013
PreRace Guide

Like every other UCI World Tour team, the season starts in Australia at the Santos Tour Down Under. Commonly a very sprinter friendly race, and generally won by a punchy sprinter, the heat also will play a role in the difficulty. The last two editions of the race have been won by Aussies Cameron Meyer (2011) and Simon Gerrans (2012). Much to the chagrin of the tour, BMC will not be bringing Cadel Evans to the race.

With two uphill finishes including atop Old Willunga Hill, a punchy rider will again likely take the GC and the remaining stages will be for the sprinters or the odd chance of a breakaway. BMC will be looking to be active in all stages of the race, trying to get riders into the break and then ready our sprinters for a mass sprint.

BMC Startlist

Leader:Greg Van Avermaet
Sprinter:Thor Hushovd
Free:Matthais Frank
Team-mate:Marcus Burghardt
Team-mate:Michael Schär
Team-mate:Daniel Oss
Team-mate:Larry Warbasse

Team Goals

We would like to look at getting a win with GVA or with Thor, both should be able to stay in the front for the hilly finishes, Thor could even get some time-bonus in sprints if he is in good shape. The remainder of the team will be looking to get into breaks, especially Oss and Warbasse, anyone not in a break will be expected to help protect Greg and Thor. Stage victories are nice, but we are looking to finish very high in the GC.

Santos Tour Down Under
January 17th, 2013
Prospect – Lobethal: 134.2 kms - Flat

The first stage of the tour is a moderately sprinter friendly flat stage. Perhaps just a bit too hilly for the true sprinters, but still flat enough the climbers and punchers shouldn't be able to drop anyone. An early KoM point provides the first to pass with the leader's jersey, and three sprint points should give the breakaway a good chance to lead in the points category at the end of the day. Daniel Oss would take these points alone as he tried to start a breakaway but had no support. He would keep away from the field just long enough to get the points.
i12.photobucket.com/albums/a218/Centaursunder/BMC/2013/11.jpg

With no breakaway out front, the first sprint point would be some free seconds to the major contenders that want to make a go for it. Viviani (Cannondale) and Thor Hushovd would take to the sprint, and gain what could be valuable seconds.
i12.photobucket.com/albums/a218/Centaursunder/BMC/2013/13.jpg

A true breakaway would finally form after the halfway point of the race and Reinardt Janse Van Rensburg (Argos), former BMC rider Karsten Kroon (SaxoBank) and Larry Warbasse. They would have the next two sprint points to themselves with Janse Van Rensburg having little difficulty beating the others through.
i12.photobucket.com/albums/a218/Centaursunder/BMC/2013/14.jpg

Just up on the final little bit of climb before the finish Matthias Frank would stretch his legs and take a shot, the climb and an uphill finish might give him a chance, and certainly should burn out the true sprinters opening up the field to the punchy sprinters like Hushovd.
i12.photobucket.com/albums/a218/Centaursunder/BMC/2013/15.jpg

Thor Hushovd gets a good line on the wheel of Elia Viviani and the Cannondale sprint train. Frank is still out front but the trains are moving fast and the coming mass sprint is taking shape. Ventoso (Movistar) finds a good spot as well on the wheel of Thor.
i12.photobucket.com/albums/a218/Centaursunder/BMC/2013/16.jpg

The sprint starts but Frank pulls away, the Cannondale train had to go too early and completely spent themselves too soon. No one would have the legs to bridge across as Matthias Frank takes the win! Francisco José Ventoso would move just fast enough to avoid losing seconds and gets the field close enough that they all finish with the same time.
