Sydney’s Luke Davison claimed 2012 Subaru NRS crown

pelotoncafe.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2012/08/2012-Tour-of-the-Great-South-Coast-Day-1-Luke-Davison.jpg

Luke Davison (Budget-Forklifts) could celebrate after claiming his maiden Subaru National Road Series crown, with the 22-year-old unrivaled as he held the lead for the final six events of the Series.

“I feel relieved that all my hard work has paid off, it has been a long and hard year,” said Davison, who claimed line honours in the Tour of the Murray and the Goulburn to Sydney Classic.

**Giacoppo signed with Risa-Ergon (CT) prior to the 2013 campaign

It was a break through year for Davison's Budget-Forklifts team with a dominant display throughout the entrie 2012 Subaru National Road Series.

Victoria's Mark O’Brien held the leaders jersey for three tours after winning the opening three events on the calendar - the Mersey Valley (TAS) , Toowoomba (QLD) and North-Western (NSW) Tours.

Davison later continued this strength by winning 10 stages in total plus adding Goulburn-classic to his palmares.

Davison’s closest rival Anthony Giacoppo (Genesys-Wealth) needed to a top five finish in Inverell to take the title, however the sprinter was unable to hold on over the climbs in the notoriously tough race.

Although disappointed with not capitalising on the absence of the Series' leader in the latter part of the season, Giacoppo was pleased with his 2012.. he signed with Risa-Ergon, a new founded Continental Tour-team.

Very nice report. Looks great

tsmoha
Thanks, guys. I thought I would be nice to post a short review of 2012.

So I just start to post previews for the most important teams and riders. Here's the first, more to follow soon. And for those, who know the NRS: if there's any stats way off, please let me know!

Huon Salmon-Genesys Wealth Advisers Pro Cycling Team
[img-r]https://i1176.photobucket.com/albums/x323/tsmoha/Teams_Genesys_zpse09fdb9f.png[/img-r]Team Ranking 2012/ 1st (1481 points)

2 stage-wins Great South (Brenton Jones)

Watch for/ Aaron Donnelly - In his third year at Team Jayco-AIS had a six-month European adventure cut short in 2012 after a nasty crash. Won the most aggressive and young rider classification at the 2012 Tour of the Murray River.

Anthony Giacoppo took out the Budget Forklifts Tour of the Great South Coast, the fifth event in the Subaru National Road Series, in what has been a very successful tour for the team. He left the team to join Risa-Ergon and Genesys needs a new leader.

Mark O'Brien won three tours early in the season and finished 3rd in the NRS eventually. A huge year, which he has to repeat, as champion Davison left the team to join Drapac.

Dutchman Floris Goesinnen has claimed the 261.4km Melbourne to Warrnambool Cycling Classic in unprecedented style. The Drapac rider and young-gun Aaron Donnelly formed a break with 40 kilometers still remaining, yet after 220km of racing the peloton had nothing left to give.

Jesleyh
Nice previews up to now. I'm rooting for Goesinnen Pfft

Good preview's. Hope for some show on this race's.

sutty68
Luke Davison should grab a few wins for Drapac Wink

Jakstar22
Alex Wohler always goes in the break. He is more of a Cancellara type guy minus the TT ability. He can usually keep the break going if it's strong but if it isn't he goes solo and manages to hold of the peloton with his power.

P.S. I have raced with him personally. Well my brother has at least.

tsmoha
Thanks, guys. And thanks for the infos, Jakstar! This is really appreciated, as I don't know every rider's type Wink

Scott Law left the team to join GPM, and his strong sprinting skills will be missing here. Anyway, the team has a strong leader in Van der Ploeg.

Bradley Hall can be a reliable scorer for the team, as he proved his strength by taking 3rd in Melbourne to Warrnambool in 2012.

Those are nice team presentations!

Satalyst have some good fighters in their squad Wink

tsmoha
Thanks, guys. And, sutty, I tried to add a couple of good fighters per team. But Satalyst definitely has some interesting riders, yes.

Here's a new team to the NRS: a farm team of my ManGame-equipe Oz Cycling Project, which failed hard in 2012 Wink So we decided to start a development project in Australia. This is one of the teams I will focus on:

Ethan Kimmince (right), 7th in Liège - Bastogne - Liège Espoirs last year, joined the team in 2013. He's a stagiaire-to-be for Oz Cycling Project and wants to show himself in the "farm team". He's also going to write a diary/blog from his races in the NRS.
