I think people expect way too much from De Gendt after last year's Giro. I don't see him counting in the GC here.
It will be nice to see what Gesink can do. He has a very nice chance to win this, after being so close in 2008.

Talansky to do very well. Porte likely as well.
Wonder what Costa can do, this is his big goal.

Tirreno, Tirreno and Tirreno respectively
And Wiggins was going to be there too, "to win", he said, but then announced he wasn't just a few hours after Contador was revealed to ride....hmmm

I wouldn't be surprised if Danny Pate went for the breakaway on Stage 4. Robert Gesink will win it though, and Tejay will podium.

So, Löfkvists chances in the GC? showed some good form so farm and there are not many GC-riders here. Might be me as a swede overrating his chances but think top-10 GC is realistic with top-5 not totally out of the question. |

Would be realistic, if he hadn't come down sick after the Tour du Med.
His form is a big question mark right now

1 Costa
2 Gesink
3 Westra
or something like that
Add Quintana as other favorite if he survives the wind stages |

to be honest i am not as confident on costa's chances, i think he will be on the top 5, maybe even on the podium but for some reason i don't see the win happening.
one thing is for sure, it looks like this will be a very open race and that's cool

I would love to see quintana up there too, but seems hes going to be the whole year working for someone else, Vuelta a AndalucÃa, Vuelta a Murcia, Volta a Catalunya, Dauphiné, TDF and Vuelta for Valverde, ParÃs-Niza 4 Costa and maybe an Stage win, only after TDF will have the opportunity to lead at a 2.1, 1.1 race. |

Indeed, it's a real pity. With the form he had in Tour Med, he would've been a solid top 5 / 10 contender. Would really like to see him back on top in a big race, but I fear that we'll have to wait another little while for that.
Costa vs. Porte vs. Gesink for me.

Costa and Porte are the main contenders, not sure about Westra, because of the Mountange du Lure. Van Garderen, Talansy and Gesink will have a word to say too. |

Costa is sick (has a cold) but I think it will fight for the GC. Last year he won the tour de suisse and nobody expected that ...
1- Costa
2- Tejay Van Garderen
3- Porte
4- Gesink
5- Talansky |

If Costa is sick the I change my Top 10. I cant see him making making a top 10 with the temperatres at the Moment in France and with a cold.
My Top 10 will be:
1. Tejay van Garderen
2. Robert Gesink
3. Andrew Talansky
4. Richie Porte
5. Nairo Quintana
6. Thomas De Gendt
7. Andreas Klöden
8. Nicolas Roche
9. Jakob Fuglsang
10. Thomas Voeckler |

I'm wondering if Peraud can manage a top 5 or even a podium here. Clearly he is in form after 2nd overall at Tour Med and a win on Mont Faron. The Col d'Eze TT definitely suits him (3rd there last year) and if he has that sort of form then he should avoid losing too much time on stage 5. Also the lack of any punchy finishes will help him.
I'm just not sure who can take it out of this lineup. So many question marks over form and so few top contenders. In fact screw it I'm going out on a limb and saying that Peraud actually wins this. I'm not confident but hey, at least I'll look good if he does?

Péraud said his Tour Med achievement has been like a revelation to him.
Id say that's only words, but maybe it's a sign he can do what you're expecting him to do. |
