Yes, but Blondel is a sprinter. He will have over 82-83 in sprint. They have different goals.
I think it's too early now, but in a few season I will see who is the best . I want to keep them both for a long time. |

Yes, Funch is better than Rouvenaz. Rouvenaz will be a good team mate and maybe a leader for some less important tours. |

Do you guys find that you have more luck with riders that dominate the U23 races, or riders that you scout and are Future Greats? You don't need scouts, most of the time are the riders the scout is scouting, riders from the u23.
So you basically just have to look after the u23 races, it can also be a good idea to look at their ages. I Sardone on the u23, when he was only 19 year old, and I only signed him because of his young age

I have also made better experiences with signing riders from the U23 races. I've found for instance a pucheur and a stage racer both with the potential to reach an overall of ~83-84 (I don't have the savegame anymore so unfortunately no screens).

Why ? First, I was like you, thinking that Funch will be good for some Classics and hill stages, but then I saw that somehow he will not be able to compete in the Classics with the very best.
Sorry for the wait, had an exam.
I'll give you a thorough explanation because I feel like
Going through the stats:
Flat: Not really good, but not an overly important stat for puncheurs anyway.
Mountain: Sufficient.
Hills: ~81/82 max, should be enough to keep up with the best in stage races and finish amongst them in classics on a good day. Might lose some seconds here and there though, granted.
TT: Really really good for a puncheur, gives him a good chance in Pais Vasco etc.
Sprint: Probably the best amongst the top puncheurs, can be a real advantage. Gives him even a chance in MSR.
Downhill: You need to go down most of the hills you go up after all, and he'll be quite good.
Stamina: Excellent.
Resistance: Difficult to say with 6 stars, but 75 at least, shouldn't disadvantage him in any significant way.
Recovery: He won't race for longer than a week anyway, so only a slight problem in the latter stages. Not that most puncheurs are a lot better.
Blondel on the other hand:
Flat: Quite okay.
Hills: Mediocre at best, will hinder you a bit compared to what similar AI sprinters suffer in lumpy stages.
Cobbles: Could be really good, or not.
Sprint: ~82/83. Convincing, yeah.
Acceleration: Acceptable.
Stamina: Probably good, maybe only low-70.
Resistance: Very weak, gives you problems when the pace is high in the closing kilometres.
Now add the fact that there are lots of promising young sprinters developing further (Kittel, Degenkolb, Demare, Bouhanni, Sagan .......) and that the established ones often have high stat limits as well (look at long stories like dienblad's), compared to rather old puncheurs with not that many talents, and you'll see a good puncheur is more valuable than a good sprinter hands down.
Funch has a special niche as well with comparably great TT and Sprint, making him a perfect rider for MSR, P-N/T-A, PV, Pologne, Eneco and the Canadian classics, while Blondel is a pure sprinter without any stand-out stats, rather falling behind in some important ones that make life difficult especially for human players.
I don't want to force any opinion on you, I just thought I might give a bit of insight on mine

Two of my biggest talents:
A young Dutch sprinter with a lot of progression:
And an Australian sprinter. I won the Australian Championships with him in his first year. He beated Sutton at the sprint of the breakaway (difficulty normal)

Thanks for all your analysis.
You are right, Funch is a more complete rider and could be use is some one week tours or hill classics. The problem is that I can not handle yet the puncher riders. I had some bad results with my punchers until now. But I will go better. For example, I win MSR with Monfort last season (simulation), and this season I tried over 5 times in 3D, without success (and I tried with different riders).
I will post the screenshots after a season to show you how the young riders evolved. But I have to wait to finish this season first . |

This is Yvan Graff, a French sprinter. Maybe he isn't the best sprinter, but his hills stats are very well. He has already won 2 stages at Paris-Nice. He also finished 16th at the final ranking this season. This year he will ride his first Tour de France.

I once signed a 76 MO rider in August. By the time he raced the next Giro, he had 84 and won the GC at 21 years of age
No screens anymore though.

A Goss-type. He can win a lot, I reckon! |

This is my biggest talent: Aylmer.
He has amazing progress potential, and is able to win GT stages even now! And it was just a gamble when signing him, although it was obvious that he was good, since he won every flat race(and even most of the TTs) he entered in at the U23 races.
Take into account that he hasn't got any days of training, this picture is from 1 January 2013(so the day I recieved him) of my old custom team career with the PCM France DB, long ago

Yeah, although I admit that talents from PCMFrance DB seem a bit better than the PCMDaily expansion pack ones

Yeah. It's a pity that I stopped playing the career when the new(well, it was new by then)PCMdaily expansion pack came out, it would have been nice to see how he developed, and what he could've won
