Not the best start for Roux, but that was to be expected with his TT stat . Bring on the hills.

Promising debut in the Pro Tour back with Wiggle by Ignatiev, and a solid ride by Diggle (for Wiggle!!) to take 20th spot. Now to see if they can maintain this performance level. Diggle usually hasn't been able to. |

Surprising ride from Impey. Do I dare to hope for him "pulling a Hoffman"?
Seriously though, if he can deliver a podium at a stage, I'll be very pleased.
Considering it seems hard to get any serious time gap on the hills, Phinney, with his sprint stat, could very well go on and win the race. Though, you certainly can't underestimate Trofimov's or Schumacher's sprint stats either! |

Nice to see that Aberasturi tried to get involved there even though he's clearly not even a sub-top sprinter yet.
Amazing that no 1t4i rider was involved in the crash. Maybe with the new sponsor, I left the crashing curse behind

3 unexpected ranking points for Sanz, probably the most we'll get out of this race
Swift justifying SN's rider distribution, though Granjel Cabrera gave him a good fight, this guy seems to overperform quite often.

Biondo
Pretty funny stage to read about considering my team. Great to see Juul-Jensen in the breakaway, would be amazing if he goes for that polkadot.
And an amazing sprint from Haedo, he shouldn't really be up there, mixing it with better sprinters.. Hopefully he and Impey can get a good position in a train later in the race, as I highly doubt a lead out from Haedo is going to be better than the rear wheel of Swift or someone else of the top sprinters
But nice try from our team, a good opening. Swift did what he was expected to, eventhough Cabrera put up quite a fight.

Close! Cabrera was perfectly placed, but just a tad too slow to beat Swift.

Nasty day for my former rider Biondo. Hope he wont suffer in the next stages.
Vesuvio's train is becoming a trademark of this season, with all those red shirts at the front of the pack. I'll start taking notes now.

It isn't inconceivable that Vesuvio could take a stage win at each of the split three stage races, which really does show squad depth to the full.
Swift does what he couldn't do at the Tour and wins a stage. His second of the season and I get the feeling he is stepping up a bit this year (mind you he had a great Qatar last year too).
Pleased to see the sprinters shut out Trofimov and Phinney, I am interested to see whether those two are a bit closer on stage 3 which looks a tough one to control.
Sweet FA shown from SRB after failing to get in the initial break - I'd like to see a bit more from here on in - the first two stages were right to be anonymous.

ViganĂ³ 5th in a mass sprint! That's way better than I ever had expected. Good TT by Craven as well. Hope he can end up quite high in the GC.

Trofimov really is a legend, reeling back Swift there.
I'm pleased with this one from a team manager point of view. All the hilly guys avoided the split and I am looking down the list and I feel as if one of my guys can make a move up the GC.
Sibilla gave the break a go on this flat stage which is the right one for him to have a go. Good experience for him.

Wait until a maxed Demare is around
Gives me trust in a puncheur version of him, though Cyanide might fix the problems leading to such constellations in the upcoming years

Yay! There we have Trofimov's first win of the season, hopefully with plenty to come.

That was worse than expected from Impey, seeing his positioning a couple of kilometers away from the finishing line, I hoped for a top 5, maybe even a podium. Though, it looked like he was pretty dead, hopefully he's stronger on stage 6, which could suit him. Though, Trofimov will be the rider to watch there too.
Strong performance by Swift as well. And Trofimov really is a handful in finishes like that. |

Really good start to the race for Swift and the leadout team. Very pleasing to have a leadout train working at the end of a stage like Stage 3, and 2nd behind Trofimov is a good result.

Last year, wins Tour of Qatar and a stage in ParisNice. This year, 2nd in Qatar and a stage in ParisNice. Whether or not he steps it up will depend on whether he can win some GT stages

Great win from Trofimov, i expected him to win four stages here, so just three to go.
