and I thought Liverpool had used up all of their luck and then some in their game here.....
now Lucho slips and falls at the exact worst moment, leaving Torres unmarked to head the ball in. 1-0 Liverpool

I've been saying this ever since they won the UEFA cup years ago through several illegal goals:
Liverpool are by far the luckiest team I've ever seen. what's happening today at Anfield is quite simply not possible

question one: liverpool player grabs Porto player with both hands and throws him to the ground. porto player falls to the ground and the ball falls on his hand. what does the referee do?
answer: penalty against Porto
question two: liverpool player pushes Porto's goalkeeper into the ground with quite some strenght and in an extremely obvious manner, right in front of the referee, inside the six-yard box as a cross is coming straight at the goalkeeper, thus enabling Liverpool player number 2 to pick up the cross and calmly nod it in. what does the referee do?
answer: goal allowed
there is a zero percent chance that I'm not extremely pissed at this referee. it's typical champions league though...the bigger teams must make it through no matter what, otherwise the TV ratings will suffer

that reminds me of Real-Lokomotiv three years ago. Real must draw or win to go through. the game is 2-2 in the 88th minute as a lokomotiv player advances completely alone through the defence, just one on one with Casillas....the referee ends the game. in that situation, two minutes from the 90th.
so every time Real loses I feel slightly better

Wtf?! Moratti is one of the best referees around at the moment?! That italian piece of rubish?! Give me a break...
What pisses me off the most is that this s*** always happens when any english side needs to win to have a chance of going through to next round... Sorry if I offended anyone but it's true...

I'm sure it has nothing to do with bias towards the English team. It seems everyong except the English, want English teams to fail

I don't want English teams to fail. I just want the other teams to have the same chance of going through as Liverpool, Arsenal, Man Utd, Chelsea, etc...
It's not a question of being biased... It's a question of being unbiased... And you can't tell me with a straight face that the english teams don't get carried on to next round when ever they're in the risk of failing to do so...
And, believe me, I'm not saying this out of spite because my team is in 1st place and only needs a draw to go through...

To be honest i don't follow the big English teams, i have no idea where they are in their groups. I don't even watch the matches on TV.
I prefer to watch teams like West Ham, Man City, Portsmouth etc. So i never see any of these decisions that the referees make
So i have no choice but to believe you.
oh and the people wanting English teams to fail wasn't aimed at you or anyone in particular. I just noticed how much people disliked English teams when everyone was wanting England to fail in their attempt to qualify for Euro 2008, because they don't like their attitude, fans, over-ratedness, etc.

I thought corruption in football only happens in Portugal... Guess I was wrong...
Or maybe, the portuguese directors are so stupid that they're the only ones to get caught...

happens everywhere in every sport. get your head around it. a friend of mine has family in Sweden where one of his older brothers works in accounting for a second division team (I couldn't name it even if I tried) and he says paying referees for favours is everyday occurrence and that the accounting is "difficult" at best, because money disappears into seemingly nowhere and other money comes from seemingly nowhere as well.
so....

No one mentioned Moratti... I just talked about him because he is one of the 12 referees that were picked for the 2008 Euro and of the 12 he is considered the best one... And after his performance yesterday I can't help but think that what UEFA said was a joke...

I always found it incredible just how amazing Collina was - he was by the far the best ref in the world - I think I only ever saw him make a mistake once, but those scary eyes silence any complaints |
