So that's where the cobblestones went .
Nice calendar, though we won't have much to do with it.

Last year in Strade Appia Antica, Tijs Crombez came 5th. This year if he was entered, I doubt he'd get 105th. It's a great race though, and should be interesting with the bigger teams and stronger riders. |

Just amazing, I never thought there could be a race which goes through my hometown, as a part of Man-Game and even in ProTour...

Nice looking calendar. I hope I can save some money to apply for a couple of wildcards.
I make kumazan's words mine. It's great that Appia Antica has been promoted, it's an awesome race. PT level awesome now.
Also I can't leave without praising that portuguese race. Even though it's in Lisboa and it's probably flat, I'll do everything in my power to get my troops signed in for that race
It starts and ends in Lisbon, so a flat finish. But the route loops as far North as Torres Vedras, so Ive found a few hills to include along the way.
It sounded more like a boring flat urban circuit, but that's a much more interesting choice. It also matches pretty well with the fact that Torres Vedras is the hometown of the greatest portuguese cycling legend. Nice job

Very nice selection of races so far for the Pro Tour and the HC. I am very excited to see the profiles. |

I was going to ask about this earlier when I noticed you could have 25 teams in a race when I was taking some screens - but then read this on Twitter -
Let's say Vespa were to re-sign Pozzo and apply for a WC to the Giro with a podium contende and a decent history of being Italian added to doing pretty well in the race last year. However, Meiji - Cannondale, Oz Cycling Project, Jaguar - Eritel, Rothaus - Aegon, Cisco Cycling Team, Tinkoff Bank - Rosneft OJSC and AMEX Pro Cycling all had applied too (nothing against any of these teams )- that would mean Vespa has 0% chance of an invite?
Just like to be clear on the rules - if there are more spots opening up for WC's, how about splitting them between new teams/teams to do well or teams with region specific links? |

Might only be 3 spots - 1 per gt. 200 rider limit hinders things - not ideal to have only 1 control rider for a grand tour.
But yes, Id sooner see gt wildcards for teams who did not ride a gt last season, than yet another Giro for Vespa. Jaguar certainly wont be applying for any gts!

Is there an ETA for the race profiles? I'd like to analyze each and every stage meticulously, then throw all that research to the wind, make like Waghlon, and buy the riders with funny names and off beat nationalities.

Simply Red Bull poster boy in France Mikael Cherel was excited about the realeased calender and had already circled some races in particular:
I'm excited about races like the Paris Nice and the Tour of the Basque country. At this stage of my career after a couple of years racing hilly stuff in the CTour with Pendleton's and JRB, I feel ready for the Protour. I'm not going to kid myself I am not a contender but I think if I work hard I could have some chances in the future.
The biggest target for Cherel looks like it will be the Ardennes week, though the Frenchman admitted races in the second half of the season could be where he achieves the most success.
Yeah early discussions were about that March to April period, I am not really a Grand Tour man. Okay the tour is the tour, but I've never done so well on the really big mountains. I actually fancy some of the newer classics and Il Lombardie is one I'd like to really have a go at. I've done well in a few Italian classics in the CTour, a trip over the Alps is not a problem for me.
Cherel also gave some insights into the rest of the teams thoughts.
The team bosses are a bit nervous with this calender it's going to be hard to make the kind of rocket start the team is used to. We started to race on the cobbled stuff last year, but we were outclassed in the main. I cannot talk too much, I've always found it difficult bouncing off of those. I think we may do okay in the stage races, obviously it will depend who comes in like others Simply have room for a star or two.

The calender looks good! Seems like I have to make a slight change in my transfer plan, though, and try to sign a rider with a decent cobble stat afterall.
